Mourinho didn't trust him in midfield, only played him in advanced positions. What a big mistake that turned out be. True. Mourinho has a different vision of a great team. I'll never forget the infamous Alonso-Pepe-Khedira midfield.

I'm not saying he was the next Zidane but talent wise he could have easily become one of the best #10s of his generation. His technique was brilliant and the boy had fantasy. And what about his shot. I mean, come on. Turn, create space and wham. But I guess we can't all rate players the same. I thought he was amazing at his best. Fair enough on Pato if that is true.

http://www.espnfc.com/blog/tactics-and-analysis/67/post/2700593/mauricio-pochettino-building-tottenham-from-back Checked the stats. Davies has 7 starts in the league and Rose 5 starts. I personally wouldn't want Walker because that would mean Azpilicueta on the left. And I remain a bit skeptical, he's not even first choice for England. Clyne is solid but not great. It would be nice to have some real class in the backline again.

I don't know why you let that stuff upset you. It will always happen. South American football is the unknown in Europe and achievements there will always be met with great skepticism in some corners. You say Neymar's style bothers people but it brings great joy and excitement to a lot more people. For all his detractors, he had far more fans. He was already a superstar before he joined Barca. People outside Brazil/South America (myself included) watched Santos to see him in action. Diego was great for Bremen but that's it. And that was only for a few years (I'll give him that first loan spell at Atleti). Bremen wasn't top level either. I forgot all about him before I saw him against Ajax in the EL. He should've had a top career with his talent. Pato's not a flop imo. He came to Europe and lived up to the hype. But his poor fitness became too much of a burden. I also read about the partying but they turn a blind eye to that if you just keep performing.

Not a fan of Walker. His athleticism is amazing but his lack of tactical intelligence and average technique always put me off. Plenty of players like that in Europe. I don't watch much Spurs anymore so I'll believe anyone who says he's improved but two years ago he was average. But if he isn't better than Clyne, he hasn't improved too much. Danny Rose I don't rate either. Think he's at home at Spurs. From what I've read he isn't even undisputed first choice.

More like the easiest fixtures of the season.

No. He has canaries for breakfast.

Release the Djilo.

James is back. I've missed him.

I wouldn't even blame them. It's easy to write off the unknown. It wasn't just here but you heard it everywhere. There have been plenty of flops but in most cases it's not because insufficient talent but for other reasons (I chose not to speculate as I don't know them). That goes for Robinho, that goes for Diego (remember him?). Immensely talented but it simply didn't work out. What Neymar did in Brazil and South America wasn't normal, especially at such a young age. I've always been extremely impressed with his professionalism, his ability to carry a team and perform under great pressure. He's reaching a new level this season and I can only enjoy his exploits. The argument of him feeding off Messi, and Suarez to lesser extent, no longer holds water. That goal vs Villarreal is what football is about and he's been performing at a phenomenal level this season.

I remember you. Haven't seen you around here in ages. And I agree.
-
Is that the eye Mourinho poked?
-
The one-two's in this team suck!! Haha. It's so bad. I see him initiating them all the time but they always mess up. It always takes ages before he gets the ball in dangerous areas. By the time he gets it, the opposition team is fully organised. And don't get me started on Bayern. I watched their game today and that first half they played was simply spectacular. I'd be more upset today if I wasn't riding that football high. (I recommend everyone to watch the first half of the Bayern game, if you need some football healing that is.)
-
Not just partly but almost completely. Costa is the type of striker that is heavily dependent on the service he receives. Same goes for someone like Cavani. When/if the team ever gets back to normal, he'll score goals again. Now he'll just frustrate. I'd be less annoyed if he stopped the Thierry Henry impressions. It's embarassing. Somehow he's convinced himself he's a great footballer. Needs to be brought back to earth.

It was €50 mil but still too good to pass up, yeah. It's just a shame a true upgrade was never purchased.

I read an article in L'Equipe not too long ago. It said Mourinho's not a candidate because of his style. They want a manager who will continue their current brand of football and hopefully elevate them to a new level. And it also mentioned how Mourinho's relationship with Luiz plays a factor in not appointing him as manager if they had the chance. I don't know if it's true but at least there's logic in the reasoning.
-
Attacking and defending are connected though. If you fail to score, there's a big chance the other team will. That's why the team looks fine (defensively) before conceding.
-
A cruel joke? They did fill us with the hope of better things to come. Maybe the PSG tie was a (giant) hint.
-
I'm not joining the blame game but what does that have to do with anything?
-
But I thought the road to Munich and the victorious end was a gift from the gods? I guess not. And the punishment must've started with the Atletico trashing.
-
What? The effort talk? I don't believe in teams that don't try. So when some people were talking about the team not trying before, I did not join in. They might not always be succesful and low confidence might make it seem like they're not trying or 'don't care' but they always try.
-
Get outta here with the deserve talk. How often did Chelsea win 'undeservedly' in the past? There's no such thing. A win is win. A loss is a loss.
-
Already thought points were going to be dropped. But I was thinking a draw... I don't know what to say anymore. I've said plenty. Bunch of losers.
-
Chelsea used up all their luck for the next century in that campaign. You aren't even allowed to fantasise about it.
