1. I dont know if you missed it but he is a sub right now. He lost the first choice keeper place to another fantastic keeper called David de Gea (19). So if Chelsea act fast they could get a fantastic goalkeeper who can keep Cech on his toes and maybe even replace him since he is already a great keeper, even though him being only 20 years old. Dont get me wrong, i think Cech is great but a little competition never hurts.
2. Maybe it's a little too early but it seems like Ancelotti is finally realising that the 4-3-3 (4-2-3-1) formation is the best formation for Chelsea FC. I really hope he sticks to that formation. But that brings me to the point that we do really need a few changes. Replacing the old with the young. Sell/Out: Hilario, Fereirra, Carvalho, Belletti, Deco, Kalou, Sinclair, J. Cole (BIG maybe) Buy: Asenjo, Jerome Boateng or Kjaer, Gourcuff or Van der Vaart, Ashley Young or Aaron Lennon Bring Back/Promote: Patrick Van Aanholt, Ryan Bertrand, Mancienne, Cork, Matic (never plays), Kakuta, Stoch DEFENCE Hilario out and promote Turnbull to second choice. He is a good goalkeeper and since he is only 25 he can still improve. Or maybe get Asenjo who can spice up the competition. He is a fantastic keeper and he is very, very young being only 20 years old. Cech wont be able to slip up with those two fighting for first choice. Carvalho out. Still a great defender but no so consistent anymore and injury prone. He can also bring some money in since he is still one of the better defenders out there. Bring in a young defender. I would love to see Kjaer or Jerome Boateng (HSV), both fantastic young defenders. I would prefer Boateng since he is cheaper and he has pace and agility. He is also very strong and tall (1.92 m) and he can play as a fullback (left and right). Boateng can even give Alex a hard time for first choice. Hutch is too injury prone and i think Mancienne is more comfortable at the DM position. Promote Bertrand and PVA. GK: Cech, Asenjo, Turnbull RB: Bosingwa, Ivanovic (Boateng and Mancienne in emergency) CB: Terry, Alex, Boateng, Bruma, Hutch (Mancienne, Cork and Ivanovic in emergency) LB: Ashley Cole, Patrick Van Aanholt, Ryan Bertrand (Zhirkov and Boateng in emergency) MIDFIELD Desperately need a good playmaker. Van der Vaart and Gourcuff are the best options. Hamsik is a great AM but he isnt a real playmaker like VDV and Gourcuff. Rafael van der Vaart would be a good buy. He is simply world-class and very cheap. But he is 27 years and he is a little bit injury prone. Gourcuff is the best option. Young and very close to world-class. Bring back and promote Cork. DM: Essien, Mikel, Mancienne CM: Lampard, Ballack, Matic, Cork (Malouda and Zhirkov in Emergency) AM: VDV/Gourcuff, Lampard, Kakuta (Malouda in emergency) ATTACK From what i read Anelka is ready to stay with us and sign (lower wages). So he would be a fantastic back up for Didier. I dont think DD will be able to play as much as this season (he isnt the youngest) when the new season starts so he would get a lot of game time. Aguero is not needed if we stick to the 4-3-3 formation. He isnt a winger and he isnt the lone striker type. I think we're covered with Malouda, Zhirkov and Kakuta at left wing. Sell Kalou. He just isnt Chelsea material, too bad because i do like him. If Joey leaves then it would be best if we buy Ashley Young. He is a great winger and only 24. He is expensive but worth it if you ask me. Aaron Lennon is also a good option. He was one the revelations of the league before his injury. He is a player that could give defences headaches with his extreme pace. LW: Malouda, Zhirkov, Kakuta CF: Drogba, Anelka, Sturridge, Borini RW: Ashley Young/Lennon, Stoch (Anelka in emergency) Starting line-up --------------------------Cech----------------------------- Bos/Ivan-------Alex------------Terry---------------Cole ------------------Essien---------Lampard---------------- --------------------------Gourcuff-------------------------- Young------------------Drogba------------------Malouda These changes will give us a good mix of youth and experience. And with this team we can finally be a consistent side again.
3. ANCELOTTI: TIME FOR ANELKA, TIME FOR Chelsea Posted on: Sat 27 Mar 2010 Carlo Ancelotti expects Nicolas Anelka to return to his starting line-up this afternoon, and is hoping the Frenchman has benefited from his midweek rest. Anelka was an unused substitute in Wednesday's 5-0 win at Portsmouth, and has gone 10 games without a goal having previously scored six in six. Ancelotti is at a loss to explain the goal drought, but indicated that the 31-year-old has contributed in other ways. 'He didn't score but did a lot of assists,' the manager said. 'I don't know what happened really. He changed a little bit the position and maybe he had some difficulty in a new position.' Indeed Anelka has dropped a little deeper and wider in a more supportive role to Didier Drogba, usually alongside Florent Malouda, a potent threesome but one which appears not to have gotten the best of the former Arsenal and Real Madrid man. 'I never asked him to have a right position on the pitch, he likes to move and I want him to move because he can improvise,' Ancelotti continued. 'It is important for a player to have discipline when we defend, but when we attack I can give ideas but you have to use your instinct and your quality, you have to move with your team-mates. Defensively it's different, I ask to work hard to chase the ball and take the right position.' Anelka returns to the side for a crucial match against Aston Villa, one we must win to maintain our title challenge ahead of next week's trip to Manchester United. Ancelotti believes Chelsea's time has come. 'It is a lot of time when we didn't win a title and we need to win,' he said. 'We have been a lot of time at the top of the list and we want to come back to stay there and win this title. I think it is time for Chelsea to win. 'After the game against Portsmouth there was a different atmosphere, more excited, more confident, and I hope [against Villa] we will do a fantastic game, play well and look forward with optimism about the next game against Manchester.' Looks like my prayers haven't been answered, Anelka is likely to start at the right wing again . Why can't Ancelotti see and accept that he just doesnt bring what we need from that position. You play Anelka as a deep striker or behind the striker in a free role. A more central role. Joe Cole is the only real right winger we have and he did a good job coming on against Portsmouth. He keeps praising him but he doesnt have faith in Joey .
4. Hoping for the best. We really need to win to really be back in the race for the title. Even though we crushed Portsmouth, it wasnt a that good of an performance. That first half was horrible for title contenders standards. Against we need to play well and focused from the start. Luckily Villa drew last night so hopefully it will have an affect on their performance on Saturday. I liked the fact that we finally played a real 4-3-3 formation (well when Joey was in the game). But that choice to use Danny as a right winger wasnt a good one. Joey did a great job when he came in and he should be the one starting at right wing. You could see that we were playing much better with a real left and right winger. Real contribution from both sides. But Ancelotti's words yesterday did worry me a bit. He said that it was more rotation than a tactical change. Praying that Joey starts . I saw that some people weren't so happy with Deco's performance. But give the guy a break, he just came back from a injury . I didnt think he did that bad. I must say that was a fantastic pass he gave to Joey for that last goal. He gave the ball with just the right accuracy and speed. We dont have anybody else for that free role and i think that he is the one to break Villa's tough defence. So i would go with the following formation. ---------------------Cech----------------------- Fereirra-----Alex---------Terry--------Zhirkov ---------------Mikel--------Lampard---------- -----------------------Deco---------------------- Joe Cole------------Drogba----------Malouda Subs: Turnbull, Bruma, Van Aanholt, Belletti, Matic, Kalou, Anelka If all goes well, i would love to see Kakuta, Matic and Van Aanholt again.
5. With all due respect, but i really hate it when the 'older ' fans/supporters say that ten, twenty years ago we would be so happy if we only won the FA Cup. Of course you would ! Back then Chelsea FC didnt have a squad that matched the likes of Man Utd, Barcelona and such. So of course you would be super excited if you won the FA Cup or League Cup. But times have changed. Now we do have a squad that that matches the likes of Man Utd, Barcelona and such. Now we are a European powerhouse. Now we do have a fantastic Academy. And dont forget that Chelsea FC is the club with the highest wage bill, a shocking 150 mil pounds. Add that all together and you have a club that should win 'everything' every single season or at least one major trophy. If we dont win anything than imo you have the right to be disappointed. It's natural. Especially since we seem to fire every manager who doesnt do so. I hope Abramovich has learned from his mistakes and at least gives Carlo the time to build his own team. But going back to my point. After being disappointed for a while, if you are true fan you snap out of it and cant wait to see what next season will bring us .
6. I dont know. If im right, according to Esk Kakuta slipped in form. And his last game was his first good game in a quite a while. So i dont think it would be smart to play him with him not being in form in the reserves. And isnt he more a player for the left wing ? I would love to see him getting like 20, 30 min of game time.
7. A must win game so no time for playing youngsters. He should have used them more earlier in the season. I seriously dont know why every manager is such a coward when it comes to playing them. We have some real rough diamonds at the club. I agree with Shane's line-up. Ancelotti needs to realise that Anelka sucks at right wing. I just wanna see J. Cole play like 4, 5 games in a row and see what he does. He hasnt been given the chance to do that and thats not fair. Anelka has played that position since Drogba's return and hasnt played well at all. It's Joey's turn now Oops double post..

9. I think it was (painfully) quite obvious to see that we lack creativity in the midfield and real pace up front. If we had Sneijder at our side, we would be the team to reach the quarter finals. Ooh well, lets hope that this is a lesson for Ancelotti and Abramovich. We do really need more youth and creativity in this team if we are ever going to win the CL and the PL for that matterHilario, Fereirra, Belleti, Deco really need to move on. I dont think i need to explain why as it is very obvious why. Defence Turnbull should be promoted to second goalkeeper. With that super talent Matej Delac joining us soon, i think we have three keepers that we can trust. I think that Delac could give Cech some competition. I mean a 17 year old that is the first keeper of his team, thats pretty impressive. I also think that selling Riccy would be a good move. He is not that world-class player he used to be. It's finally time to pass on the torch to Alex. So it would be best if Chelsea get a young defender. Simon Kjaer would be perfect but he is a starter at Palermo so it would be very hard to get him. Or maybe Tomkins from Westham would be an option. I haven't followed him lately but i do he is very mature for his age. Maybe you guys have some other suggestions ? And bring back Bertrand and promote him. Maybe Van Aanholt too ? So that would leave the following: RB: Bosingwa, Ivanovic, youth player
CB: Terry, Alex, Ivanovic (emergency), new player, Mancienne, Bruma, Hutch
LB: Ashley Cole, Zhirkov (emergency), Bertrand, Van Aanholt *Note I do feel that Mancienne is more a DM than a central defender, what do you think EskWeston ?. But Chelsea should keep him and give him the chance to prove himself. He would also be a good utility-man with him being able to play as a CB, RB or DM. Midfield We really need new players in midfield. Players with creativity and or speed. Hamsik or Rafael Van der Vaart would be a good buy. I would prefer Van der Vaart as he is experienced but not too old (27). Hamsik would be a good buy as well of course as he has youth on his side. He could become a true superstar. Ballack should sign for one more year but as a player for the bench. He would be good cover for Lamps.Matic should be promoted and be given more game time. Cork should be brought back and promoted. DM: Essien, Mikel, Matic, Mancienne (emergency) CM/AM: Lampard, Hamsik/Van der Vaart, Ballack, Matic, Cork Attack Aguero should be top priority. Fantastic player and very young. His pace, dribble and goal-scoring abilities are very needed. And i do feel that people underrate his strength. He is very strong for such a small guy, you will have to work hard to get him down. Pato in that matter is too light if you ask me. And he is injury prone so we dont need him. Bring back and promote Stoch, promote Kakuta and give him more game time. Sturridge also needs more game time. He is very promising and with right guiding he can turn into a great player. I would love to see Anelka stay but not as a right attacker. He sucks there. He should be Drogba's cover. If he decides not to sign a new contract then Chelsea should keep him untill his contract ends and get another if needed. It depends on Sturridge's and Borini's development. Sell Kalou. He just isnt Chelsea material. I like Salomon but selling him and getting some money would be best. Joey can leave too if he wants. He claims to love the club but if he leaves us for Man Utd, i would be very disappointed. Left Attacker: Malouda, Kakuta, Sturridge (emergency) CF: Drogba, Anelka, Sturridge, Borini Right Attacker: Aguero, Stoch, Anelka (emergency)
10. :goodpost: I do agree with you on the Joe Cole thing. Playing him in midfield could be the solution to the lack of creativity in midfield. IMO we need to attack and not the '' score 1 goal and defend after that '' tactic that send us out of the competition last season. That tactic is also bad for the hearts of Chelsea supporters . And he also could switch to the right wing when Anelka is roaming around the field. But on the other hand, Ballack does help a lot at the back. Sometimes he helps too much if you ask me with those annoying fouls because of his short fuse. But if it was my choice I would also play Joey in midfield. It would surprise the heck out of Jose .
11. Mourinho: '' I keep winning important things, they keep winning.. something. '' That man still cracks me up. The only way to shut this man up is by winning a the PL and finish him off by winning the CL. I do feel quite confident about this game. The boys should go out there and play there football. We should have won in Milan but scoring that away goal was vital. With the fans supporting the team and our impressive home record we should be able to send them off. I just hope Ancelotti is man enough to bench Anelka as he is not performing well. We hardly produce somethin from the right and thats why we need Joey there. We do have a dilemma at the back. Alex has been performing very well these last two matches With Terry and Alex we will lack pace and mobility at the back. Milito has a lot of pace and is very agile and Eto'o has extreme pace and agility. With Sneijder behind them with his world-class passing ability, we could have problem if he is in top form. With Carvalho at the back we have a player with mobility and pace. Yes he has lost pace but he still is the fastest and don't forget that he has performed well in the big games this season. But if he asks Ivanovic to stay at the back more than he usually does, then it is possible to play Alex. I trust Ancelotti to make the right choice. But i doubt it when it comes to the issue of putting Nicolas on the bench. I hope he surprises me .
12. This is a hard one. I think it's down to Didier and Branislav. Ivanovic has been fantastic all season long and never seems to play a bad game. With his six assists so far he's been very helpfull from the right and i love his determination on the field. But then you look at Didier, who has been very important this season. I mean 27 goals and 14 assists, that's amazing ! And don't forget he has scored some very important goals that got us three points when it didn't seem we would. But for a striker it's extremely hard to be very consistent, so he has had his share of bad games. I think Drogba will be the POTY and Ivanovic the player's POTY.
13. Whats up fellas (and ladies of course). New member here and i go by the name of Blue_Soldier (soldier of the Blue Army for those who dont understand the choice of the name ) as you can see. Just wanted to say that i love the site and i appreciate the hard work by those who made the website. I'm confident that the men on the field will send WHU back home with 0 points. I just hope that Malouda keeps on playing in that midfield role on the left. I've always felt that one the key reasons of those defeats against Everton, Inter and Man City is because our midfield is just too slow with Mikel, Ballack and Lamps. With Malouda in midfield we have a player with speed and creativity who can take on a man but is also hard working. I just hope Ancelotti sees that too and will choose for the obvious back four Ivanovic, Alex, Terry and Zhirkov. In midfield Lampard, Mikel and Malouda. And the attacking three Anelka, Drogba and Joe Cole. IMO Joe Cole should be given the chance to start like 5 full games in a row just so he can get that rythem back in his game. It's very hard for a player, who was out for 10 months, to get back to his best without playing many matches in a row and never the full 90 minutes. Ancelotti keeps on saying that he is very important and that he is a genius but his game time doesnt really reflects his game time. I strongly feel that Joey is the guy we need when things arent going our way. He is the only one who can create something in that final third, something we have been really lacking this season (creativity in the final third). Chelsea should definitly buy at least one more player with that creativity, someone like Rafael Van der Vaart who is just rotting on the bench at Real. Thats all i have to say for now. I hope there are people out there who get what i mean .
