  1. That's strange. I thought he was very poor. But maybe I'm missing the sarcasm.
  2. Ugh Mourinho football sucks. It's like reading a textbook. But 1-0 ahead, so yeah. Come on, Chels
  3. You wouldn't enjoy an Europa League party with Utd and Arsenal?
  4. Why Kovacic? Happy for them as the underdog and finishing above Utd. I don't support a Dutch side but I sympathise with Ajax.
  5. Buying actual quality with those millions would help. Thanks for the history lesson but scoring eight goals in a single match remains a very difficult thing to do. You usually lose the real hunger and sharpness after 4 goals. And Real had nothing left to play for. Notice how you have to go back years to think of examples and I never said this was a legendary achievement. Ronaldo always scores in clusters against weak sides. Repeating what I said. I wish Chelsea players always scored in clusters against weak sides. That would be fun. Bottle every big game. That's not even close to being true but I'll leave it at that. Best player in the world. Not for me.
  6. Real won 8-0. Ridiculous. Cristiano scored four goals. Mr Binge. Cristiano is on 88 CL goals. Sick.
  7. Epic failure. PSV sweat buckets over a €5-10 mil purchase. This wasn't their strongest team either. Amazing achievement.
  8. PSV! Long live the underdog. Utd lost which makes it even better. Was watching three games at once and kept looking in every direction. What an exciting matchday. Proper football entertainment.
  9. Male cheerleaders are an abomination.
  10. I'm honoured. A few demands: 1. £10 mil a year. I'm not greedy. 2. No press. Ever. 3. Private helicopter. All expenses paid. Not by me. 4. Batmobile + Batcave. 5. Jennifer Lopez as my personal assistant. 6. Get rid of the ugly male cheerleaders. Non-negotiable.
  11. Very true. I did think of Hiddink's tenure but I can imagine Italy saying no. But then again, all that's left is friendlies until the end of the season.
  12. People are too harsh on Conte. He took over a Juve side that finished 7th and won three straight league titles. That's an amazing achievement, I don't care how you want to spin it. He lost in the CL QF against Bayern. That Bayern side would beat any team, as they proved by winning the treble. CL 13/14 was disastrous. But it's one campaign. They were also a bit unfortunate in that final game. I remember that terrible pitch and weather conditions. Game never should've been played. Nonetheless that was still very poor. But two European campaigns is not enough to draw conclusions imo. 102 points with +57 GD in the league that same season, that's fantastic. He's also done good work with Italy. It's not the most talented team, especially in terms of creativity and firepower (Insigne's, Eder's and Pelle's form is encouraging, but they aren't world-beaters), but they're a tough team and they can hurt you on the break with some intelligent play. He's a good manager imo. He wouldn't be my first choice as new head coach but I wouldn't mind him as an interim manager at all. His high energy style and motivational skills would be welcome in the current situation. But it depends on whether he speaks English.
  13. Prime Cech>Courtois>Prime Van der Sar(>>>>>>Lehman/Reina>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Almunia) Always thought VDS received too much praise. Saved an incredibly weak penalty from Anelka in the CL final (still a bit bitter about that) and people went crazy about him. Big Nose is going to comfortably surpass them both.
  14. That's the plan after I retire from my career in space travel and adult films.
  15. He is much better in the air, that's true. But De Gea is much better with his feet and with his distribution, he is simply excellent in these areas. I do think De Gea is the better shot stopper. I know Courtois makes it all look easier with his superb positioning but De Gea is so great at dealing with an onslaught of shots. I could be wrong though and deceived by the flash. I'm not familiar with De Gea's ability to stop penalties but Tibo is pretty great at dealing with them. They both aren't real generals when it comes to organising the defence but that's most likely related to age. Both consistent performers as well. I think they're both generational talents, with their strengths and weaknesses. I'd always pick Courtois but I can't say whether I'd say the same if De Gea was a Chelsea man. I'm not so sure about that myself. I think it would easier to find a worthy replacement for Courtois. Not as good, sure, but a great GK nonetheless. Hazard is the only attacking player to truly touch elite level in the Roman era, and it's been over 10 years. We must have seen over 20-30 players come and go and not one was as good. There was Robben but he was nowhere near as good back then as he is now. So Zola in the 90s till Hazard in 14/15. Just look at the difference between at Chelsea with an in form Hazard and an out of form Hazard. Willian is in the form of his life but it's not close to being enough. And I'm not pinning this disaster on just that but I do think it plays a big part. Hazard carried the attack with his individual brilliance because this team always had a hard time offensively (bar the infamous honey moon period). And I just wanted to add how great Courtois is on the the ground for a big man. It's astonishing and I love that about him.
  16. I don't agree with the last part as I rate De Gea very highly but agree with your post overall. He's exceptional. Scary career at the tender age of 23. I do hope his luck improves in the future regarding his fitness.
  17. Sign two midgets in January, Mourinho resigns immediately, no pay off, problem solved.
  18. Good point. You bring in a manager in the summer and he'll need at least that summer to assess the quality of the squad and areas in need of strengthening. You find a manager in the coming weeks and he can already set targets for the summer.
  19. Excessive touches, I agree. But he's always had that in his game. It's the disappearance of his driving runs forwards that makes it more annoying.
  20. I was even more confused than the mechanic. No idea what that old manlady said. At least players actually do make the move. Even a player like Douglas ended up at Barca. But never managers. I've never understood that. Atletico's choice to go for Simeone when they were seriously struggling turned out to be a stroke of genius. Of course his history at the club played a big part in the appointment. Is Emery really that attacking? I've always viewed his Sevilla as a hustle and bustle team rather than a stylish and adventurous team.
  21. True, it's a major weakness. He can only turn one way, is forced to everything with his left (making him easier to read) and he's easily passed by on his right. Willian is like that with his right foot but he has the advantage of being quick.
  22. Do you know managers who made that move straight from South America to Europe's elite succesfully? Or even unsuccesfully? I can't think of anyone. And I also wonder why it barely happens.
  23. The idea of an interim manager is starting to sound better and better. This is all so sad. What are the chances of Chelsea managing to convince Di Matteo, Zola and Petrescu to work together as head coach and assistants? That would make the current situation more bearable. It's too bad Hasselbaink signed with QPR.
  24. Was always going to happen, wasn't it? He's a boy.
  25. Imagine buying a car and it only works in first gear. Congratulations, you just bought a Cesc. Also known as an Obi in different countries.
