  1. According to whom? Big gesture if true.
  2. Interim choice is hard. This is a very tough situation to step into. I'd like Conte but that would be difficult with his Italy job. Hiddink is popular but Feb 2009 was a very long time ago. Not been succesful in his most recent jobs. His stint as Holland coach was a mess. Might be out of touch with today's demands. But he still has people-managing touch. Rodgers could have an impact. Helps that he is a former Chelsea man. Cappello is a bit like Hiddink. Possibly out of touch. He's not a people person but a strong tactician. At least he used to be. Di Matteo is possible. Could step back in an assistant's role after the season is done. Juande Ramos was brilliant at Sevilla. Did well for Real and Tottenham under the circumstances. But that was a while back and I don't know how well he did in Russia. Bielsa delivers great football at first and drops off after a few months. Could be the solution but he's crazy and I don't know if he speaks English. What about Monk? He could do a decent job. Rudi Garcia seems to be on the way out of Roma. Not ideal after his last few months at Roma but he did do well at Lille and initially at Roma. New head coach I have these guys in my amateur mind. Random order. Simeone (summer) Koeman (summer) Pochettino (summer) Emery (summer) Favre (now) Ancelotti (summer) Jorge Jesus (summer, a dream as he doesn't appear to be interested to work outside of Portugal) I have the feeling I'm forgetting about someone I had in mind but okay. I've heard about Sampaoli doing great work for Chile but that's unlikely. What a horrible season this is. There's just so much to fix.
  3. I wish the club would go back to Chelsea men in an assistant position. Like with Wilkins, Di Matteo, Newton. Men who can keep the club culture alive and men you can trust to only do what's best for the club. But also someone who will remain at the club, despite the manager in charge. Think that's important for the club. Someone fly to Qatar and China and convince Zola and Petrescu to come home. Di Matteo returning as an assistant would be brilliant as well.
  4. I don't believe in a happy marriage between Guardiola and Chelsea. Not now anyway. The constant comparisons with Mourinho alone. Nah...
  5. Agree. Didn't even celebrate Scolari's departure. It's a weird feeling. To me, Mourinho is like that cousin you're not very fond of. But something happens to him and you feel sad. He's still your cousin. But this was inevitable.
  6. Doubt it. Team is a shambles. Winning is possible but 3 points against Sunderland is anything but a great achievement.
  7. Too much competition I think. City and Utd will strengthen again. Arsenal will probably add here and there while the core grows stronger. Klopp will most likely continue to book progress while also strengthen, think his status, his eye for talent and Bundesliga connections will benefit Liverpool massively. I guess it depends on how much damage repair can be down before the season ends. But still, even if Chelsea finish 6th or 7th, that's quite the leap to make to 1st. Not to mention how hard it will be to get quality players in the summer. I'd be impressed with a top 4 finish in 16/17 tbh.
  8. Don't think he's responsible for the mess. That's on him, the players and the footballing side of the board. Things simply weren't working. A case of falling and not being able to get up. It happens. Usually not in such extreme fashion like this, especially in Mourinho's case. I do think his time here was close to being finished. I thought he would be here until the end of the season but he worsened his situation with the drama and the antics. You look at how Klopp dealt with his situation at Dortmund last season and you look at Mourinho, and it's just a massive difference. He'll do fine elsewhere and Chelsea have to try to repair the damages as quickly as they can. This season has put the club back unfortunately. Such a mess.
  9. There's also a different pressure now. This season has set the club back. Winning the league in 16/17 is unrealistic. Scratch that, downright impossible. Think it will be between the Manc clubs and possibly Arsenal. Finishing in the top 4 will be the goal. Even a title in 17/18 seems far-fetched. The coming years will be about repairing the damage and introducing new blood.
  10. Mourinho in survival mode, haha. I originally wanted to ignore everything involving this subject but I came across it anyway, damn internet, and I just can't help myself. His passion comments are priceless. It's such hogwash. He's playing the crowd, making full use of his god-like status in the eyes of many Chelsea fans. He knows that word is something that hits the hearts of many football fans, especially in English football. And unsurprsingly, it has hit home with many fans. People who are actually watching the games start to see a team that is 'not trying and doesn't care'. Nonsense. They are running, they are defending, they are attacking. It's just not working. Nothing is working. There was no difference in terms of effort in the games vs Porto and Leicester. The matches were different though. Football is and always will be a game that is decided by the slightest of details and margins. 'Passion' - better known as excessive running and tough tackling, let's not kid ourselves - doesn't win you jack. If so, British nations and the likes of Ireland, Turkey, Uruguay, Ghana, Australia and many other countries would be extremely succesful. Wenger's early Arsenal team didn't win because of passion. Mourinho's first Chelsea team wasn't succesful because of passion. Passion wasn't the staple of Ferguson's dominance of English football. They won because they played good football. Quality and calculated football. That's it. More passion wouldn't have caused Chelsea to leap up from 16th to 6th on the table. That 16th place is the result of terrible football. Never expected Mourinho to stoop so low. I always saw him as man who knew that if he gets sacked at whatever job, he'll easily get another top job and be succesful again. So these kinds of desperate attempts - throwing players under the bus, publicly bluffing the club and putting himself on such a high pedestal - would never be necessary. But I guess this is just him trying to save his job. The circumstances seem to be different this time. I think it's because he's in such a terrible situation right now. Going out like this is a big dent on his rep, despite his past succes. His time is up imo. The candle is flickering and the wax is almost completely melted. This experience does not make him a bad manager but this isn't working. You'd have to create a new team every two, three years because every team would eventually lack passion, balls and vaginas and betray his work. That's not how football works. You can get longevity out of the core of a group with two or three managers at the helm over a 5 to 10 year span. I don't understand why such a big deal is made of him being a short term manager btw. The vast majority of managers are short term so it's not a bad thing. He'll be fine.
  11. Hazard averaged 50+ games per season (club record) in the past six seasons. That's between the age of 18-24. He's already played well over 400 games for club and country. When he's taken off in a game, something that doesn't happen often, he's not happy (that's also a problem for some though). He always wants to play. That's evident. He's rarely injured so he obviously does something right when it comes to his fitness. When he feels something is not right and he can not go on - something that almost never happens - I trust his reasons to be legit because of his record, which is a fact. As for that last part, I need some proof and arguments. This season is proof you say but I don't see it. His career and the burden of responsibility he's carried, becoming a star man and someone you can count on at a very young age, suggests the opposite. Be annoyed with his performances. Criticise the level of quality he's producing. But when you question his professionalism and attitude towards the game and make all kinds of claims, you begin to sound silly imo. And that's putting it lightly. That goes for the vast majority of players btw.
  12. Injuries are a crime now? How often does it happen that a player goes off only to be fit for the next game? A common occurence, no? How is this an issue? The club truly is in absolute chaos. A player can not continue to play and it is actually an issue. Wenger continued to play an Alexis Sanchez (who was apparently) on his last legs and got hammered when he got injured. What is right and what is wrong?
  13. They were character players, definitely. No, I wasn't comparing them to Barca/Bayern legends as players. I mean their players, whether that's Xavi, Iniesta, Robben, Lahm, Pirlo, Vidal, Pirlo, are known as leaders but their nothing like JT, Drogba, Scholes, Giggs when comparing their personalities and their connection to their clubs. Touré and David Silva are nothing like them either but they are the leaders and City men. That's why I find the term leader interesting. It always seems to pop up when you lose. I find it very hard to define a leader. How is Drogba a leader compared to Iniesta and Zlatan? Do leaders lose? Schweinsteiger's and Lahm's leadership was questioned after losing the CL final in 2012 and missing out on all the other trophies (lost the CL final of 2010 as well). They were legendary leaders after winning the treble in 2013. But whatever. Chelsea is crap and it sucks.
  14. Not saying that it is but what if the job those managers did was simply never as bad as we are currently seeing under Mourinho in 15/16? Is that possible?
  15. When you win, players are leaders and love the club. When you lose, they are mercenaries and don't care. Chelsea's and Man Utd's old leaders are nothing like Barca's or Bayern's or Juve's leaders but they're all considered leaders. It's a very interesting term.
  16. Who signed Djilobodji? Who signed Hector? Who signed players like Luis, Salah, Cuadrado etc, only to find out they don't suit the team or whatever after a year? These people never lose their jobs. Matic, Cesc and Diego were initially praised but aren't good enough anymore. Pedro was signed, praised heavily and is now in and out of the team. Baba was signed but not trusted. Oscar was the future but now he is 'crap'. Cahill is 'better' than David Luiz but now needs replacement. Remy isn't good enough to be trusted. Mikel is only good enough to come on as a late sub. Ramires is only the answer when the team is in terrible shape but becomes one of the problems after one or two games because his limitations always become apparent. Terry and Ivanovic are the leaders but past their prime? KDB, Mata, Lukaku, David Luiz, Schurrle are sold but their replacements are worse or not better. That's a lot of mistakes. Or maybe they are better then appear to be right now? Maybe someone else needs to be in charge of signings? Maybe Chelsea needs a new board?
  17. Fulfilling a joke role in the team right now. Collecting checks. Truly pathetic. This has nothing to do with today's result but I see him on the bench all the time and I think it's ridiculous.
  18. I feel sorry future Barca teams. Can you imagine their fans comparing the future teams with Barca of 2005 - 2020 (something like that) Barca? I can imagine words like leadership and love for the club popping up quite a few times. Comparisons are futile in the end. But they are stealing a living right now, yeah.
  19. They should transfer the players' and managing staff''s salaries into the accounts of all the fans who have put up with the crap we've been fed for months. What a happy day that would be.
  20. And I thought his 'if they sack me, they are sacking the best they've had' comment was quite disgusting. This is something else. Nice work, Mr. Mourinho.
  21. Please tell me the post-match comments aren't true.
