  1. They've lost Sanchez and their first-choice midfield pairing though and they're getting results. They also lost other players at some points. I'm not saying they'll win the league but I think you're painting them as a more fragile side than they are. This is the first time the 'everyone can beat everyone' phrase has actually been true. You can't predict the title winner this year. You can't even predict the top 4, top 6 and teams going down.
  2. Why is Touré always refered to as a powerhouse? He's just a very big technician. Gorgeous goal.
  3. Win or lose, don't you love how Arsenal's fullbacks operate? Proper fullbacks. Best fullbacks in the league for me. Ozil is such a joy to watch. All year too. Think he'll be the one to be break the assist record as well. Think that makes it 15 in the league this season alone. I love how Giroud bounces back every time he gets heavily criticised. Not world-class but a very good striker.
  4. What happened to Louis Van Gaal's Red Army? The Sovjets lasted a lot longer than this. Oh well. Mourinho at Utd. That's going to be fun.
  5. Hiddink will unleash Djilo like he did with Ivanovic. Two headers vs PSG.
  6. Don't forget about Courtois and to a lesser extent Willian (and possibly Pedro). I agree with you. I don't believe in the club being forced to sell at all. There's only a handful of clubs able to afford the fees and wages. Don't think the elite (Bayern, Barca, Real) will be interested in them. Though I can see Real wanting Courtois and Pedro could return to Barca possibly. English clubs don't stand a chance so that leaves you with PSG. Don't think Hazard or Courtois would make that move. Willian and Pedro maybe. The likes of Cesc, Diego and Oscar could leave but I don't expect it. Wouldn't hurt the club too much either. The only problem I see is the new blood. People always say look at Utd. Signings a la Schneiderlin, Herrera, Blind, Rojo, Schweinsteiger, Depay, Martial aren't upgrades. It will be hard. A top 4 miracle will be necessary for better signings in 2016.
  7. Interesting theory but I don't buy it. Hazard has been on the receiving end of ridiculous amounts of praise and expectations since his career started. He was compared to Messi long before he put on a Chelsea shirt. He continued to progress in terms of taking responsibility and reach new levels from season to season though . He is in a terrible rut but I'm confident he'll recover.
  8. The whole possession thing is such a silly discussion. If you pull of moves succesfully, you retain the ball. The higher the succes rate, the higher the possession. Dortmund and Arsenal don't play the same footbal but they both average very high possession stats. Like you said, 'possession football' goes so much further than just one specific style of football. Attacking football is about getting forward, playing the ball vertically and taking risks rather than obsessing over keeping the ball for long periods of time.
  9. The manager you worship was the one who compared him to Ronaldo, claiming he outperformed him.
  10. Meireles was extremely frustrating. And he was one of the favourite scapegoats back then. He would produce such awful plays on the ball. Some moments of quality and he worked hard. All in all he was okay at best imo. But it was signings like that that made Chelsea slip from the top. I liked him though. Just look at him, such an odd ball. That goal and celebration vs Benfica was great, yeah.
  11. http://www.espnfc.com/club/bayern-munich/132/blog/post/2758099/pep-guardiola-heading-to-man-city-man-utd-or-arsenal Makes sense.
  12. Chelsea scored a corner after 5 min of play. 4 or 5 men at the back won't prevent that from happening. It was an excellent header from Ivanovic. Typical Chelsea goal. 7 min later Pedro plays the ball to Ivanovic on the right flank. He's completely unmarked with plenty of space. Van Aanholt (I think) moves from a tucked in position to the left flank. But he decides not to press him and stays more than a few metres away from him. Again, no one is around him (Sunderland offered a lot of space throughout the game). is He's pretty far away from the box but decides to cross the ball early. Nothing new about this scenario. The cross is poor. Again nothing new. But the ball lands in front of Pedro after a richochet. Close range, he smashes it, goal. 12:14 and you are leading by two goals against a poor team at home. How easy life becomes all of a sudden. They were terrible. Chelsea has been very poor but let's not exaggerate. Games have actually been won this season and even a team in worse form than Chelsea would win a game like that in most cases. This was of course a game that could've been lost. But heading into the game, a win, draw or loss were all perfectly plausible scenarios. Losing was not the most likely outcome though.
  13. You figure Abramovich has a deep, manly voice or a soft, girly voice? I always imagined he has a Michael Jackson voice.
  14. Staying at Bayern would be a lot easier. Guardiola's not the type to stay long at a club. Do you then pick a rebuilding process or a team where you can cover your needs with one or two windows? That's sensible. It's football fans always trying to paint him as a genius or the greatest or whatever. I don't think he's looking for such adulation. I'd love to see high-profile managers take 'small' jobs though. Let's see how influential managers are when taking charge of a midtable side or a so-called sleeping giant.
  15. I turned off the game after the ref robbed Rayo with that 2nd red card and the penalty. Stupid. 10 goals. It was against 9 men though but still impressive, I have to admit.
  16. Fairytales never last. At the end of the day it's about the quality on the pitch. Like the poster above said, you can't coach Vardy and Mahrez turning up every week like this. Their form drops and suddenly everything changes.
  17. We might see Giggs and Zidane coach Utd and Real at one point. And I wonder if Villas-Boas will soon get a big job again. Maybe PSG.
  18. After trailing by three? No way. I know they got some life back in them after scoring but that's normal and that happens whether your Chelsea, Barca or Juventus. Let's not lose our grip on reality after a few terrible months. Full 90 min of domination is extremely rare. Of course this team is still wobbly mentally, I agree with you on that. It was a good performance and Oscar was fantastic but it was easy so personally I'm not impressed. Watford, Utd and Palace are up next and I'm very interested to see how they'll play against those sides.
  19. That's what I mean. They need better players to become a top side. A manager upgrade can only do so much. He's lucky he can take Chelsea's usual spot in the top 4 this year.
  20. He really wouldn't. He's too wild for Barca. You never know what he'll do on the ball and he's quite wasteful. He lacks that intelligence in his passing and positioning. And he's so hot and cold. Dani Alves is the complete opposite. Cuadrado's not a defender either. Barca don't play with three CBs. He's always linked with Barca but they never buy him and it makes sense.
  21. Proves managers aren't miracle workers. He'll need time and money. That goal difference though.
  22. This is Watford? Gulp. They're playing with such confidence and authority. Guus Dinkywinky has hit work cut out for him in the next three games. Flores looks like a modern cowboy.
