  1. I'm not a fan of all these crazy inflated prices but why is it always a problem when it's about us? Man Utd bought Anderson for €30 mil and back then paying that amount of money for a young and unproven player was considered even crazier, but that wasn't a outrage? And some advise, stop caring about the prices. If Chelsea is interested, the price goes up by 10-15 mil.
  2. People shouldn't go crazy, he's not starter material yet. Welcome Oscar.
  3. Mehh a role playing behind a striker doesn't suit him (ideally). The guy just screams offensive central midfielder, similar to Lampard's former role. Well that's the way I see it. Though he could do a decent job as a 10.
  4. Are you for real? Hmm a loan to Werder is interesting. I was thinking about a La Liga side myself but this would also make sense. Not too much pressure and a good chance of him playing regularly. He definitely needs to loaned as he needs to play and gain experience at a high level. But he has the ability.
  5. Buys like this make me wonder why we even have a academy..
  6. The Eredivisie is of a higher level and most importantly, it's how they play in the league. Like I said, there is a emphasis on technique. Something which Romelu is seriously lacking in. He'll never make it at Chelsea if he doesn't improve significantly in this area. Playing in the Eredivisie will do him a lot of good of developing in this area. While the emphasis on attacking total/possesion football also means attackers learn how to move and link up, sounds simple but it isn't. Just look at how the succes rate of players who move from the Eredivisie to a big league is far higher than players moving from the Jupiler league to a big league, especially when moving to a big side. Judging him on 3-4 games? Read my post again. I've seen him before he joined and I've always said the same thing. There's a goal-scorer in him but that's about the only thing he can do. That's not enough, not at this level, and that part of his game isn't even close to the necessary level (yet). I'm not having a go at him or anything, he's simply not ready for this level. He needs to go and play regular football somewhere. But he's not ready for Fulham imo. I can just tell we'd end up regretting sending him there.
  7. It's really painful to watch him play. He's playing like he's got a gun aimed at his head.
  8. Can't believe Bayer turned down 20 mil. He probably would've been ideal as an option for the striker role if whatever would go wrong with Torres (again) and Sturridge.
  9. He's good, not great. It would be a bad idea to pay big money for him imo. We need to stop getting ripped off all the time.
  10. It's a shame really. Even before he arrived, it was so incredibly obvious that the guy is very raw despite the ridiculous hype that surrounded him. Ideally he would've been sent out on loan quickly after he signed, instead of wasting a whole year on the bench. Don't give me that training with big stars nonsense as that only makes him improve slightly. I hope the rumours of him going to Fulham aren't true as he's not good enough to be a starter there. Two years in the Eredivisie at a side like Feyenoord would do him a lot of good, a league which emphasises on technique and attacking football (plus he speaks the language). To then loan him out to a a PL club for a year would be the best way to go with him. A similar approach to what the club did with Courtois, which is the best way the club has ever handled a youngster in the Abramovich era.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pj_bBcwBL20 Drogzilla has arrived.
  12. Raul's having good tournament, keep it up.
  13. Fair enough. Buffon is the exception. He's good at everything.
  14. A best GK discussion is useless due to the different requirements of different leagues. Van der Sar didn't do well in Italy but was incredible in England. Casillas is not a GK suited for the PL due to his weakness in the air. Cech made a silly mistake. It happened, move on. All GKs make mistakes, all of them.
  15. I'm agreeing with you a lot lately Seb. Good player, knows how to attack and defend. Would make an excellent buy imo, rotating with Lamps.
  16. Gotta love all the sudden negativity surrounding him now he's joined Chelsea. What envy can do to people.
  17. I'm probably the only one but I still have faith he'll come good. Not as a starter but as a good back-up, able to do a good job whenever called upon. I just know he's better than he was overall last season, I've seen him play at a higher level at Liverpool and Portugal. And I'm sure with the whole team being much better next season (surely), he'll perform better as well. His defensive contribution last season shouldn't be taken for granted though. He's not a good tackler but he's pretty good when it comes to putting pressure and intercepting. And despite all the harsh criticism, he managed 6 goals and 6 assists, which is decent. McEachran isn't ready for Chelsea. He should be loaned out to a Eredivisie side, it would do him a lot of good. A year at a PL side after that.
  18. Nonsense. Besides the Sporting, Porto, Benfica and Braga the league is filled with average and poor teams. Ligue 1 is a stronger league and the top four leagues are far superior to the Portugese league.
  19. The PL was pretty disappointing in terms of quality the past two years. On one side I'm thinking I wish he didn't join them but on the other side, this will make the league stronger. So bring it on Utd and let's make it an exciting season.
  20. Absolutely right. But like Tomo already said, Frank can't play two, three times a week. We need another player for that role. That's why I'm hoping the club is looking for a central midfielder. There are plenty of options around.
  21. Can't wait to see him in that beautiful blue shirt. Amaze me Eden, amaze me.
  22. A player of his calibre managed to stay at one of the top 5 European clubs for 6 good years. Has to be some kind of record. Anyway, good luck Salo.
  23. I prefer us going for a winger now, a Valencia type. As in a player who'll stay out wide, stretching the opposition defence, going around the fullback and putting in crosses. The prospect of having two wingers cut in doesn't excite me at all. Width is crucial. Moutinho would be a great addition as well, playing alongside Mikel in the double-pivot (rotating with Lamps).
  24. I've been saying this to myself for months and still think he could make a quality RB. He relies too much on space to be succesful as a winger on the long run.
