Could say the same about all the top young defenders out there right now though. Koulibaly, Romagnoli, Stones, etc, etc. I would rather have Christensen as an option instead of paying out 40+ million on a defender with similar or inferior potential.

Very good window. We haven't overspent tbh and have brought in quality in areas we needed strengthening. Kante and Michy are great acquisitions, especially the former, and can only see them both getting better. Alonso I honestly know zero about so we will see, but if he turns out to be very good player for us then that's an added bonus. Luiz we know all about, so be interesting to see Conte can do with him. We've spent the same amount on 4 players as Utd have on 2

Why are we looking at the loan market when we have Tomori and Clarke-Salter? Seriously?! Our lack of faith in those two at Cb is frustrating. They have been spoke about as having so much potential and would give their best for us if given the chance, but we're reluctant to give them those chances it seems. It really does bother me.

Would rather see Chalobah given a chance, admittedly, but if this guy is what Conte wants/needs in midfield then who am I, or anyone else for that matter, to complain.

A loan would probably be best all around. He gets playing time, Madrid won't be playing his wages, they still get to keep him, and James can decide if playing in the EPL is something he would like to continue doing once he's experienced it.

Tbh, Koulibaly is a gamble after one good season, and the same for Romagnoli and others. At least this guy was part of that '14 Holland side as well as being touted as having potential to become a very good defender.

I also wonder why we're only being linked publicly with defenders in the Italian League. We have done well in the past scouting in the French league (with Zouma and Azpi). Maybe the only decent defenders available are in the Italian league as Spain's top defenders play for Madrid, Barca and Atletico.

But wasn't Napoli's plan to buy Maksimovic and partner him with Koulibaly? They are cash rich at the moment with the sale of Higuain, and weren't exactly short of a few euro before the sale of Higuain, so they aren't in desperate need to sell.

Conte will have provided the board a list of options I am sure of that. Koulibaly being no.1, maybe Romagnoli no.2, so now we go after option 3 or 4, whomever they may be. Everyone has got a price, and I am confident Roman will pay the price needed in the end to bring in Conte's targets. Also, who knows, the "lesser" option/s could turn out to be the better options for us. Just because the likes of Koulibaly and Romagnoli are hyped, doesn't mean they're any better than other potential signings at cb.
