  1. The emotion JT showed after the final whistle today was probably my favourite moment of the game. Won both the aerial and mental battles with Austin and Zamora today; was totally dominant. His fist pumps at the end were even sweeter given how their fans treated him all day. CLL!
  2. Loved the way he rode the abuse from the QPR fans today, even leaning back further over the fence to cop more and at one stage giving some back himself. Awesome!
  3. Not his greatest game, but took his goal well and did very well to get the ball through all those legs and into the back of the net. Loved the celebration too! Does anyone have a logical explanation for why Cesc is not taking as many corners anymore? Willian seems to be taking just as many as him now, and even Oscar stepped up when he came on today. Earlier in the season, Fabregas would take almost every corner, with Willian taking a couple here and there, and Oscar only taking them when the other two weren't there to do it.
  4. Gave us the spark that we needed when he came on in the second half with a very good five minute burst. Perhaps went out of it a bit further on, but he still played some decent passes and made some good runs that for a variety of reasons didn't bear fruit. On balance he played an important role in the victory by injecting some quality to our attacks when he came on.
  5. Sounds like a contact injury to the calf muscle as opposed to a strain for Remy. Jose told Sky Sports that Loic "got a kick in training yesterday" and "doesn't have full movement".
  6. Haha, sorry! I'm well known for overcomplicating seemingly simple things! Agree with this. People say it would stunt his development and what not, but I reckon he would gain more out of working with Diego and Loic for a season (as well as potentially/hopefully Didier as a coach - the best striker coach you could possibly hope for in my opinion) despite getting less game time. He'd probably spend half the season as #2 anyway with all Diego's injuries! Whilst I'm not against a loan to an EPL club next season, I think he's ready for Chelsea.
  7. Bit of a grey area I suppose isn't it... I guess when someone hears that he "missed" a penalty, it sort of implies that he didn't get it on target and it was entirely his fault. Whereas if a penalty is saved, yes the penalty taker probably hasn't produced his best effort, but the goalkeeper still has to do his job to save it, therefore not entirely the penalty taker's fault and in my opinion not deserving of the word "missed". Having said that, you could argue that a penalty being saved is a "missed chance" and therefore a "missed penalty", so to answer your question - no, it's not really incorrect to say that, although I do think that in it's written or spoken form to someone who hasn't seen the game it can be a bit misguiding.
  8. It was saved wasn't it? Apparently he wasn't going to take it initially but then stepped up following a minor argument...
  9. I think that sums it up pretty well - Dave certainly isn't the first name that would pop into everyone's heads, and non-Chelsea supporters or people who are less knowledgeable about our club would probably be surprised if he was appointed, but when you actually sit down and think it through, he really does tick all the boxes. I hope that the powers that be at the club have the courage to look beyond perhaps the simple conservative decision that would be to give the captaincy to Cesc (because he was captain of Arsenal) and make a gutsy decision that I'm sure would pay off.
  10. That alone is enough to refute your statement that it was a pointless signing. He's scored some useful goals and is a Chelsea legend with experience and an infectious personality that I'm sure have been invaluable to our playing group this season. As far as I'm concerned, Didier deserves his EPL Champions medal as much as many others in our squad who may have contributed more on the field, because his impact off the field this season has no doubt been immense.
  11. Scored twice in our 4-0 win over Roma in the UEFA Youth League Semi-Final. What a season this boy is having! Hopefully he can back it up in Monday's final.
  12. If you look at the two men who have played there the most this season though, Fabregas isn't quick either and Oscar is hardly a speed demon. Willian is the only #10 we've played with this season who has speed as one of his big attributes - and he's played there significantly less than the other two.
  13. Expect him to be part of the subs this weekend and may well get half an hour or so of playing time if we have a game to shut down and Jose wants to take Matic off to avoid a yellow and subsequent suspension.
  14. Want him to play in the big games coming up, but not instead of Remy. Maybe he could play #10?
  15. Yeah, Andre is one of the better ones as far as I'm concerned.
  16. Whilst I think it looks as though Cesc Fabregas will be the next Chelsea captain, I seriously hope it ends up being Cesar Azpilicueta. Here's why (in my opinion) Dave has all the necessary credentials. - Age: He's young and could be in the job for many years, but not too young; he's got more than enough experience. - Performance: This takes care of itself; he's one of the best in the world for his position and is very consistent/reliable. - Speaking: His English is good, he speaks confidently and articulately. - Personality: He seems like a very humble guy, whenever he's interviewed he tries to dodge questions about his own performances and talk about the team instead. - Body: He has a pretty good injury record, more than passable in terms of being on the park often enough to maintain a captaincy position. - Spirit/Commitment: He's an absolute warrior; the images of him collapsing in exhaustion after repelling yet another Spurs attack in the COC final (bandaged head and all) should go down in Chelsea history. - Popularity: He's an absolute favourite of his teammates (they voted him as their PotY last season), Mourinho (he's on record as saying that he really likes Cesar), and the Chelsea fans. - Proper Chels: He loves the club and the city, and signed a new 5 year contract back in September last year. As I said, I would love Cesar Azpilicueta to be the next Chelsea captain, but if not him or Cesc Fabregas, I believe one of the two Belgians - Eden Hazard or Thibaut Courtois - should wear the armband, as they both tick a lot of the boxes that I have mentioned Cesar does above.
  17. Not entirely sold on the home shirt yet (although it is growing on me)...Also my feelings for it might be exacerbated by the fact that I love this season's home shirt so much. On the other hand, the away and third shirts look awesome!
  18. In the midst of arguably not the greatest run of form by his standards and all this shit going on with Bale, he comes out and scores 5 times in one game including an eight minute hat trick. Insane!
  19. Captaining Spurs today...interesting.
  20. Hope we win the league early so that he can start consistently in the last few games. A nice little cheap goal in one of the next few games would help!
  21. For me this is the main deficiency in Thibaut's mostly faultless performances at the moment. A few of the goals he's conceded have been unlucky and somewhat ridiculous, but we can't ignore the fact that he is having concentration lapses that I doubt we would be seeing from Petr. It's these concentration lapses that are leading to things such as being caught off his line, slapping/punching the ball into dangerous positions instead of clearing it, and letting in shots that he should maybe be getting to immediately after making a great save. I love Courtois, but he has to maintain 100% intensity for entire games to completely win me over.
  22. Feel as though Matic is critical for the United and Arsenal games - we cannot afford for him to be suspended. Obviously Fabregas is important in those two games also, but with Diego likely to be out, I think Cesc is less important than Nemanja. I don't think we can rest both of them against QPR, so I think I would be prefer Cesc to potentially be suspended instead of Nemanja. I'm happy enough with Cahill at CB for now to put Zouma in DM, as I would prefer Mikel to return from injury coming off the bench. Thibaut hasn't done much wrong but Petr deserves a crack in my opinion. Really wish Luis could play but just can't see it happening. Don't think Oscar should start, but this is such an Oscar game - he loves playing against the average teams, and scored against QPR last time we played them. Then again, I thought this about the Hull game and Jose didn't pick him, so it will be interesting to see what happens. Cech Ivanovic Cahill Terry Azpilicueta Zouma Fabregas Willian Oscar Hazard Remy Subs: Courtois, Luis, Mikel, Matic, Ramires, Cuadrado, Drogba.
  23. I'm thinking Terry also for the same reason. Fabregas and Matic next in line.
  24. Pretty sure that for some reason Victor's loan terms don't prevent him from playing against us, but isn't he battling an injury anyway?
