He was an insurance. Just in case an Arsenal-like injury bug hit us as I believe he's a wing back and central mid cover. Fortunately for chelsea we were not hit. UNFORTUNATELY for Ake we were not hit.

I think he's still a guy who can be average most of the game, but can have that one moment of magic that can prove to be decisive. I don't argue that his form has dipped (e.g. effort on pressing). I just feel that some of the slating the he's been getting is unfair.

I was watching a few Chelsea highlights on youtube (as i always do). He's had some briliant games for us. - Against Swansea away, scored the first and the fourth which was a cracker - Against Newcastle at home, scored the first and provided a backheel assist to Costa for the second. - Thought he was brilliant against Livpool second leg cap one cup ...You have a run of subpar games and some people are just quick to forget and think you've been useless all throughout...

Just rewatched the match...His pressing on Meyler started the counter attack that led to Costa's goal. Dont think anyone has pointed this out. Btw, happy birthday Ramires.

Talentwise i dont think the gap between chelsea and soton is that wide, despite chelsea players' wages and transfer fees. I find it weird that some people just put blame SOLELY on Jose.

Good attacking performance in the 2nd half vs Good defensive counter attacking / parking the bus / goal keeping by Soton. I dont think we need to change manager just yet... just my opinion...

On another day he could have won us the game with that solid chance he had. Foster was solid to be fair. Think he's taller than Tibo.. Definitely wider..

Feels like he's not breaking down attacks as he used to. He's not making enough of those "stab" tackles and interceptions. I've a feeling that the incident with Burnley that could have broken his leg is in his head... ...or he's just tired..
