Rumors started yesterday on the web that we might be interested in signing him for £15m, thoughts? I haven't seen much of him but so far based on this WC he seems very fast and a OK player, for a fee of 10-15m seems about right but he won't ever be a starter for us. Is he good enough to be on Chelsea bench? Although I would prefer Aubameyang to this guy, he could become a new Kalou for us.

Now is not the past, money is more inflated than ever before. Also the hype is much much bigger now compared to 5-10 years ago. Yes if this was in 2005 Shaw would cost 10-15m max but now because of hype he was always gonna go for 20-25m min anyway. 10 years ago internet was relatively new and hardly anyone check websites like Daily Mail...etc that posts constant articles praising players as well as numerous other websites. Also being in BPL TOTY helped Southampton's cause massively too as they could use that to argue that he is one of the best LB in BPL. I agree it is overpriced as hell but MU had no chance, they don't have CL football so they have to overpay for Shaw and Herrera. Do you think they would go for them if Alaba and Kroos was available? You think they chose Herrera for 36m over Fab for the same price? It is not always down to them, they knew that lowballing won't work as they tried to get Fab last summer and chasing other targets unsuccessfully. If anything, they have learn their lesson by bidding a huge amount at 1st straight away so the selling club won't get annoyed. Rumor is that they bid 27m before WC and that was rejected, now they are going to get him for 30m which is hardly much more at all. Imagine they have started at 15m, Soton would be so pissed like Everton was with Fellaini last summer that would have probably demanded more than 35m. Then there is the risk of clubs like us coming in anytime for him too. Luis isn't signed yet and there is every chance we could hijack their move so they had to move quickly.

Name me the other 10 better strikers atm that is clearly better than him, so far I could only come up with this in my head: Messi, Ibra, Suarez, Falcao, RVP, Aguero, Lewandowski(debatable, probably not as good)-same with Benzema. The likes of Balotelli, Rooney, Mandzukic, Diego Costa...etc are no where near his quality. Despite the shit season on RW for PSG he still scored over 20 goals. They aren't just simple tap ins either.

Like I said, I have no problems with niggling injuries at all but they cannot be considered niggling if they last nearly half a year. Also coincidentally he had one of the best game in a long time for Brazil straight away, all pointing toward the idea that he was saving himself for the WC. However like many have said he is still one of our best player and shouldn't be sold yet, lets just all agree that we will make a judgement on him next season that will define his Chelsea career.

Well Kalou could play left/right and ST, doesn't stop him from being bad though and for a CAM-the main creative force in a team like our that is not enough. Your last sentence summed it up. No one is doubting Oscar or his ability but rather the fact that can he keeps up with Jose's demands? Being burnout for nearly 5 months despite being only 22 is not a good sign. If he produces another season like that Jose won't have that no matter how good or potentially good he could be.

Bale is atm a better player than Hazard imo, same with Neymar but both just barely ahead not massively like CR7/Messi.

Rumor is that MU have paid 36m euros for Herrera and he will sign soon. Hahahahahahahha Fabregas and Herrera same price, cannot believe what a good deal we got when looking around at deals like this. 36m for a OK mid compared to a world class mid for the same. I know Fab is on bigger wages but still 36m is a joke.

Unless he miraculously develop Suarez/Aguero skills in the next 2-3 years he will never be one of the best ST. ATM he is nothing more than a powerful old fashioned forward whose only do well when the team is doing well, crossing/supplying him with the ball. He is not a Rooney or Suarez who will move back to receive the ball and involves team mates and that is why he won't make it here with us. A club like us need someone a lot more that from our ST. Basically atm he is worth around 15m max in term of ability however his potential means he will be 20-25m. I doubt he will ever get past that 30-35m max even at his peak because of his limited ability.

18m is a OK price for him, would take him for that if he is gonna play as false 9 sometime. Would hate it though if it means some 'mutual friendship' for Hazard to join in a year or so or something like that though or Oscar heading the other way possibly in the future with no replacement(Lavezzi is not good enough to replace Oscar). If Jose really doesn't want Oscar here or we are anticipating the sell of Hazard in the future we should be aiming for the likes of Reus and Vidal to replace them not players like Lavezzi. I hope the club know what they are doing and not just doing everything Jose told them to because he made quite a few mistakes with transfers in the past.

If Vidal comes it would mean Oscar being sold with Fab as the new no 10 for us and I am perfectly fine with that too.
