Actually i can understand why this is being bumped. I mean, PSG want Cavani, that basically means Zlatan is off right? I mean i can't see those 2 playing together athough that'd be a scary thought. I'm not bothered with PSG, they're doing nothing wrong. I'm kinda joking really because it's like ... we're linked with someone then along come PSG. I actually think Ba was always going to leave. We need to push the boat out and at least get one MASSIVE striker. With Torres, Ba and Lukaku we don't have that lethal striker at the peak of their prime. Lukaku is still young with no experience at a top team. Ba is a good striker but not what you'd call a superstar elite striker and Torres is not what he once was. We need a top class superstar striker at the peak of their prime. The only man that suits that now is Cavani. I think we'll go all out for him now. There aren't many more options unless we go for Zlatan.

Yawn. Still....PSG had many years of hurt. Let them enjoy their wealth. If De Rossi chooses them, congrats to em. I believe he'll come to us if we offer him a similar contract.

There's no point showing an interest if we're not willing to offer the asking price for anyone. PSG will offer big. We seem very cagey upto now. If he can be bought for £13m, just do it. He may be getting on a bit but i reckon he's got 4 years left. That's good enough for me. Getting extremely bored and fed up with all these rumours though, really doing my head in.

It's not at all a biased thread because i'm going on the numbers that are in the media and the rumours that we want both. Cavani is better than Rooney atm, a lot better in fact but is a lot more expensive. Rooney is also not finished yet imo. If it was Cavani £25m against Rooney £53m, the poll would be 100% in Cavani's favour but that's not the case. I've not made anything up at all. The media are reporting we're after Cavani and Rooney. The media report Cavani has a buy out clause of £53m which Napoli want met for him to be let go and the media are also reporting that Rooney could be available for £20-£25m. These aren't my figures. These are the actual stories. I'd be over the moon with Cavani but i'd be excited as hell to see Rooney with Mourinho. Also if we spend £50m on another striker, he'll be compared to Torres every day and if he goes even 3 games without a goal, we'll start getting edgy and it will really get annoying hearing about Torres over and over again. He'll be under huge pressure. Imagine Rooney scoring the winner for us at Old Trafford in Moyes' first home game. Just imagine it.

When Rooney put his first transfer request in, it was a dead cert he was going to City and he was in his prime then. You'll never really know if they'd sell their best players to rivals or not. To them, no player is bigger than the club and if you want to leave, go for it. We don't manage Man Utd and we don't operate there so we can't know how they are prepared to do business. they may have sold him to City a few years ago. To me it seemed like that was going to happen.

Man Utd have won a few PL's with Shrek. Nobody is guaranteed to win the league anyway whoever they have and i also never mentioned that Rooney or Cavani would win us the league. We're looking for a striker and these 2 are who we are rumoured to be looking at. Can Rooney or Cavani win us the league? If course they can, no doubt.

There's nothing wrong with Ba except the issue with his knee may be something that Jose isn't keen on long term and maybe the fact that he's not a global icon which seems to matter nowadays. There's plenty wrong with Torres which we all know about and Lukaku is basically a new signing. Ba is currently the main man and maybe that's not a big enough main man for a title contender like us? Chelsea nowadays buy players to sell shirts.

Irrelevant thread? I'm only asking what people think, i'm sure that's not hurting anyone and if we end up with one, it certainly won't be irrelevant. We are linked with both so it's not just some made up dream scenario like saying shall we buy Messi or Ronaldo. If you look at the transfer section here, how many of these names have actually come? 5%? Probably less. It's a very simple thread really. Answer the question or don't bother posting because what you posted there isn't really going to achieve much. I would personally go for Rooney anyway. Although i tend to agree with Alex and you... the fact is we are linked with a big named striker and these 2 are very much in that category. Oh and 2 more points.... 1) Schurrle is a LW and considers himself as a LW 2) We won't win the League with Lukaku, Torres and Ba. In my opinion anyway.

I don't want to mention Cavani in the Rooney topic and i don't want to mention Rooney in the Cavani topic so in a debate of who you'd rather us get, i'd like to see who you'd rather us go in for taking account of price, value for money, best for our style etc.
