  1. We must n't hate clubs. I decided it is a bad habit. That leaves the problem of some pestering supporters of various entities such as Liverpool and others. Sending them to Coventry might be the answer.
  2. I went to a club doctor once. He as a former player was known for having sent many a good man to hospital. My legs had become black and yellow with strange hemaetomas. He had a look and he said "I know you were in the stadium for the cup final and you were pressing those legs of yours hard against the plastic seat so this is what happened to you. Give us a tenner now.".
  3. City are a joke. Out of Europe unceremoniously (L-D-D-L). When you say "who will stop us" you mean where the single defeat will come from ? I vote Sunderland.
  4. Is it so easy for a player who is really worth it to stay in the limelight just because the first selection is somebody else ? Suppose we have a youngster who is as good as Diego Costa. I don't believe he will not make a great career just because of that. Only with goalkeepers that tends to happen.
  5. It does n't look good. In the summer England resembled Pierikos of Katerini, with "our" Stevie expected to pull things out of the fire. The question I 'd ask is what English players are there abroad in top class teams, as that might even up things. What could be the answer ? All systems failed. English players were told not to kick the ball high in the air, some Beckhams and Rooneys came forward over the years but no juice. Everybody else has something to show. Germany, Holland, Spain, France win world cups-euros and never sink too low. The Dutch though their league is unimportant now did very well in the world cup. But England teams are like falling stars. You see them now, next they disappear.
  6. Eva could not celebrate the 2nd goal as Mourinio leaped infront of her like goat.
  7. 11 13 5 Gerrard's Slip 20/1 2 9-0 Bryan Smart — * * Adam Carter5 Dwelt, alway towards rear (op 16/1)
  8. Hazard what a mess ! Should have been 2-1 or 3-1 at halftime. Then Mourinio would n't dare park the bus for an entire 45 minutes, then we would have scored five.
  9. Chelsea (-1) in your betting. It was last week's Racing Post advice against MU. It was a loser then but in the sphere of a Chelsea win it makes sense - unless we break a leg again.
  10. Gerrard's Slip has 2.4% chance to win in my book. First from the bottom of the list. Race is due 5 minutes before Liverpool-Chelsea kick off. The favourite is Tahaab under Frankie Dettori. It impresses me however that BHA allows funny names for horses. Ours would n't allow. Gerrard is a first time outer though.
  11. City must be the biggest "no to Europe" fans ever.
  12. But he did not even use his style. When approaching the spot he looked like he was facing a doctor with one of those big instruments that look for hemorroids in peoples a**es. Should have said to Drogba please take it, I 'm not in the mood.
  13. That disallowed goal before the penalty should have counted. Then in the pen Hazard huffed anf puffed and it looked a certain miss. At first I prayed for Drogba to take it then Hazard came forward, then he decided to go for a Socrates kick, then game over. Defensively we were not in the pitch. The Maribors missed empty net chances.
  14. We used to fire flares, but now it is a little illegal. In some grounds they have secret crypts for flares but the police don't search. During the 1968 AEK basket ball european championship campaign, we lit the Panathinaikon stadium & it was perfectly ok to do that then. I had a replica pistol that could fire flares. I still have it but it's gone rusty. The ones we scared most were the Italians of Ignis Vareze. I think it became illegal two years later because there were fuzz around and they told us "don't let us see again any of those replica guns".
  15. It's true what he says about ultras, bar some unexpected behaviours from them. They make the atmosphere. I 've been on occasions where the entire stadium was cheering non stop though. Against Barcelona was one match.
  16. My first glimpse of ultras was in the mid-seventies. Those were guys with bell trousers, the fashion of the seventies, but not from boutique shops - you could see they were shopping from uptown prams. Some are horrendous. Many are ok, but one time the club gave me ticket among ultras - by mistake. Those characters threw the entire row of seats onto the pitch and they were threatening to eat the ears (!) of decent supporters nearby who did not like them destroying the seats. We were of course all with the same team. The opponent's ultras were right across, on the other side. So if I was on the other side as well, it was going to be my ghost writing here. Those characters should be taken to the army for nine months every time and live with bears in the mountains.
  17. There should be song writers & and psalms books for the fans like church. That will keep the atmosphere lively. Fans should be kept on their toes. Have I mentioned that my Greek team is AEK of Athens ? In 1989 we won the league championship and we scored in the 90th minute against Panionios who were very strong that year. It was under torrential rain and the ball got stuck in the mud - was going to be an easy clearance for the defenders otherwise. So it was Christmas-easter and new year's day all in one. As I jumped about in the terrace, I knock a fellas umbrella and it breaks into pieces. He was going to get soaked as a result, plus the umbrella became useless. But all he did was to hug and kiss me for the goal ! So it is a question for the organizers. We need to avoid lewd verses though I should think. I 'm fed up with those.
  18. Maribor are weakies. I liked Sporting a little. Schalke are Germany's bores.
  19. QPR's goal was a French billiard cannon shot. Against some mightier opposition, I don't know ... Same story as against UTD last week. There was a friend here and I said now that Schurle came at least we are going to have one chance for the 2-0 -to win the handicap bet- and then Van Persie scored for them ! Today Costa was not 100.00% fit again. That was one reason. I can't possibly imagine the league title is in any danger, mainly because the opposition are nowhere (we have to become Indonesian team !). CL is the true challenge.
  20. We used to have foreign refs in the sixties. There are some epic stories. There is also a film somewhere with Jack Taylor refereeing a match between Iranian teams and talking down to unruly players. They used high sensitivity directional microphones so what he was saying could be heard on tv. But I don't think that answers anything. The solution to the problem of bad refereeing is video refereeing, with definite rules as regards the extent to which it will function.
  21. firstrow sucks big time. Did n't see a thing. Then I put 50c on Liverpool draw, to see if bet365 tv app comes on, and the f..... scousers won it in the 96th minute.
  22. There were endless television debates in Greece in the years 2002-2003 over the issue of id cards, whether to include the holder's religion or not. Those who were in favour of omitting religion were 90% communists, 8% who called themselves dodecatheists -the ancient religion- and 2% muslims-catholics-Jews.
  23. Only the communists are against religion. Why they do this ? Used to look strange to me because throughout history there were countless numbers of rulers who installed their own bishops and lived happlily ever after. Why then communists not do the same but sought to deny people the hope of salvation ? The answer seems to be this: Church represents a higher authority -or thinks it does. So even the bishop-party man at some point in time was likely to come forward and say "listen here tavarich Jozef Vissarionovitch, your policies are rubbish and the people are hungry". To avoid this and make their rule absolute, they decided to attack the worlds religions. The fanatics are a different kettle of fish, but they are basically heretics. Religion teaches love-tolerance and wants us to live in peace, not the opposite.
