  1. The Brazilians know everything about the Physics of ball games (notwithstanding the 1-7 defeat in the hands of Germany). At the opposite end of the spectrum you will find the Scots who believe it's about who kicks the ball higher in the air.
  2. If you are harassed by the defender you can't do it. Also it depends on the body's momentum and the ball's momentum, the instantaneous motion vector of the centre of gravity of the system ball-player. When those two are not right it's difficult. So you see some good looking rebounds ending up in the roof of the stadium, with the pigeons, because the ball is moving from the goal posts outwards. However Luiz scored a nice free kick against Derby County and Willian tried three or four times against Stoke but he was unlucky once again.
  3. I don't think they are as dismal as last year. Their table position is good and they are not on the way down like the other early surprise team Southampton seem to be. Last season the hammers parked twenty five buses - reminded of Proodeftiki, the team from the Piraeus suburbs. West Ham are 4 pts above Arsenal.
  4. Stoke put up a brave performence against us but not one that impressed significantly. The commentators - members of Liverpool fc board of directors were appalling once again, "the equalizer is coming any minute" then "Fabregas scruffed his shot yet it went in". Diego Costa lost his marbles twice. A bit unlucky in the first half but the clear chance following Schurrle's effort late in the game when the two goal difference was at stake cannot be missed. Hazard's heel injury at a time when match typicalities were being wound up, proves once again that football plays dirty tricks. Some of the worst injuries to players of various teams have happened during training.
  5. Arsenal are clowns. The way they handled that match after they went 2-1 ahead was appalling - nothing to do with Mourinio's defensive tactics in our match against Liverpool. We did some back pedalling but we did n't make it "Courtois against 11" ! For the life of me I don't understand why that Frenchman has n't bee sacked years ago. Last season 0-6 at the bridge. All time record of home supporters leaving the stadium early after a win (6th minute).
  6. There are two bet offers today. Liverpool v. Arsenal and Stoke v. Chelsea. If you back one of the match market's selections, then during live you can have a bet of the same amount on any of the live markets (up to 25 pounds). So if I back Chelsea and Chelsea again soon after the kick off, it's 1.61 and it effectively becomes 2.22. If I back Chelsea -1, it's 2.62 and it effectively becomes 4.24. If I back Arsenal it's 2.62 and it effectively becomes 4.24 again. What do you think ? Arsenal are called the "Enfield daemons" are n't they ? Re. ours I believe the -1 is logical if things drop reasonably right.
  7. Welcome. We have a Greek contingent now - the oldest is LAB. CFC have many fans in Greece because the historic cup final against Leeds was one of the first matches shown live in our tv and also because the cup winners cup final against Real Madrid in 1971 was the first European final to be staged in Greece.
  8. I was worried because even when the stretcher came, they had difficulty putting him in. Also with Courtois against Arsenal, because of the nature of the symptom.
  9. Derby are doing well in the championship. But I don't care for the capital. The FA cup is another matter. But even the FA cup is downgraded these days. When I was younger I remember here in Greece we were thinking of our FA cup as something of more or less secondary importance. But while in England sometimes there were league matches and cup matches in the same week and the English fans/press considered the cup ties more important.
  10. Cahill dived, like Bolshoi ballet. Willian and Costa did not.
  11. If the match was due, they 'd be closer to win it as opposed to the bridge.
  12. I don't get the gloom and doom. With the City away match gone, we have the edge plus the 3 pts. You wanted a third goal but 2-0 is ok against a side who did n't give up. I mean if we win 5-0 and the opponent has left the pitch, it does n't count (e.g. Spurs last season).
  13. From today's lot only Juve is -somewhat- dangerous. From those of tomorrow Barca or PSG are definitely strong opponents and Roma just a little. The two English teams Arsenal and City (if they make it) are ruled out, are n't they ? Are Sporting/Schalke also ruled out ?
  14. Tottenham almost went ahead at the bridge last Saturday - Newcastle were more lucky. I liked the way we went after the equaliser against Newcastle -and we did pull one back. Before the 0-1, I just think our approach was too girly: Little flicks, itchy bitchy teenie winnie stuff - the other teams don't suck all that much ! The players should know better. Work, or it's AC Milan (*) - Qatar - Kazakhstan next for you. (*) post Berlusconi as well
  15. Did you notice Stevie's back pass yesterday. Sunderland forwards fluffed it but it was made with compass precision.
  16. Well, it's an away match. One of the Greek historic matches was PAOK Salonika v. Panachaiki Patras in 1973. PAOK were going great guns for the championship but they lost 3-5 ! In Salonika there is the rumour one of their coaches was running towards the Patras bench with a bank cheque at half time but hit another bench on the way and broke both his legs. As he fainted, he could not talk to the ambulance men and say "please give the cheque to those men". I was on a ship's deck the following day Monday and a man tossed away a copy of the Times so I open and see the Greek results. Hello, what's this, I said to myself. But at the same time, Olympiakos -the eventual champions of 1973- drew 1-1 at Kavala, a Newcastle like quantity those days. Later when I read the press of the day they praised Olympiakos performence to get that draw.
  17. One reason for the defeat is we went there to attack from the word go. We did not even think it worthwhile to secure the draw first.
  18. 1-0 thanks to give away penalty. If that's a championship team then I 'm the king of Samoa.
  19. City play like kittens. I like Arsenal better.
  20. Why ? Are they going to make it 24 x 3 ? Don't forgret that the City - CFC match has already been played (1-1). We were a lot more clueless last yeat of course (Norwich ...). This league is small time affair, like the Rafa Europa cup against Benfica, unless miracles happen. CL is the litmus test.
  21. You have to consider that we did not want to settle for the draw. We attacked them from the start. That resulted in another Sunderland of last season situation. The match could have ended with a 3-0 win just as easy. With Mikel's header perhaps - Newcastle would have called it a day.
  22. Who was the one who lost Cisse in their second goal ? Is that the same Cisse who played for Panathinaikos ? I think not.
  23. I don't think Diego Costa is selfish but he looks a little scared lately of getting injured. Mind you that was a pen in the 88th-89th min, where he got the yellow card.
