Im afraid to say but i feel the same barring some minor miracle. At the moment doubt if we will even manage 6th. Its going to take a monumental effort by everyone coupled with plenty of good luck to finish in the top 5. We live in hope.

Arsenal and Chelsea are pushing Barcelona hard in the chase for Atletico Madrid's 26-year-old Argentina forward Julian Alvarez. (Teamtalk), external This cheers me up to some degree...if true

just saw this now massive ACL knee injury for Samu a couple weeks ago ☹️ he is out until at least Halloween 2026 atm obviously misses the World Cup for Spain summer 2027 would be the earliest any sane team would look to buy him Porto striker Samu suffers season-ending ACL injury https://portugoal.net/club-news/5508-porto-striker-samu-suffers-season-ending-acl-injury FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa suffered the injury most feared by professional footballers – a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament – in his right knee in Monday’s 1-1 draw against Sporting and will miss the rest of the season as he begins his recovery. The Spanish centre-forward has been a huge success since joining the Dragons last season from Atletico Madrid. Samu scored 27 goals in 45 games in his debut season at the Estádio do Dragão, and followed that up with 20 goals in 32 games in this year’s campaign. Ironically, Porto coach Francesco Farioli singled out the 21-year-old for lavish praise in the post-match press conference after the Clássico, no doubt unaware of the extent of the injury that necessitated his substitution at half time. The Italian coach spoke at length about Samu’s first-class attitude in training, his willingness to learn new skills and said he believed the Spaniard would become “one of the top five strikers in the world.” Samu himself has shown he is an emotional player on and off the pitch ever since joining Porto and took to social media to express his devastation at the news, writing the following message on Instagram. “Yesterday was the unluckiest day of my career. I suffered a serious injury. I still can’t believe it. I’m devastated and speechless. I’m going to be out of action for several months. It’s tough for me not being able to help the team and fight on the pitch. Now I’m another supporter backing the team to achieve our goals. I believe in God’s plan, being strong and positive, which will make me come back stronger than ever. Thank you for the messages of support and comfort.” these are the top 10 Spanish CFs in terms of valuation:

Our next three games are Arsenal away, Villa away and then Newcastle coming to the Bridge. We will get 2 points out of the next 3 games if we're lucky. United have 2 home games and away to Newcastle Liverpool have 2 home games and away to Wolves We might be out of the race for UCL by the time we play Everton.

Also it's absolutely telling about the standards of the current state of the club and the squad, that we as fans have to lay blame to Palmer, who had definitely had a poor game by his standards, for this Burnley result. Because of the sorry group of players we have like Fofana, we've come to accept that keeping a simple clean sheet and protecting a 1 goal lead at Stamford Bridge is impossible. In the Drogba-Lampard era, or even the Hazard era, Palmer would just be one of many other similarly talented players. No one would think too much if a Joe Cole or a Juan Mata had an off day. There were others to share the attacking burden, and we had defenders that could be relied on as a failsafe. I won't change my tune. This is all on BlueCo. The current iteration of BlueCo, namely Eghbali & Winstanley and their stooges, should either step the fuck up or get the fuck out. Don't really care which.
-
According to Rosenior, apparently one specific Chelsea player was assigned to mark the Burnley goal scorer, but he ended up marking the wrong man twice for the last two corners. Wonder who that player is.
-
Arsenal are apparently going to appoint highly regarded Jim Fraser as head of recruitment. The same Jim Fraser who spent 20 years at Chelsea as academy manager bringing in players like Reece James and Levi Colwill. While we get stuck with Winstanley & co. Yippee.

My issue is...out of the fixtures we have coming up we have only won against Everton, Spurs and Forest. Rest we lost or drew already. Soooo not looking promising! Arsenal we havent beaten in 10 games! United who knows luckily its at home as we're on a non winning streak away since 2013...its just mehhh you can't see where we could win! Think after next sunday we'll be 6th..hopefully wrong! Just can't see us winning against Arsenal
-
We can't play against the big boys, we cower under the sheets Just have to accept we won't get fuck all
-
Rosenior taking off Neto at the end was stupid. When playing with 10 men always smart to have a player with pace as your outlet. He took him off and we had no width. I think Enzo should have came off at that point. Damaging result. Next week I expect that Liverpool will beat us as I don't see us getting anything from Arsenal. This is our next fixtures: Arsenal (A), Villa (A), Newcastle (H), Everton (A), City (H), United (H). All extremely tough games and defo will be some dropped points there. Liverpool have West Ham (H), Wolves (A) and Spurs (H) next. Football is not played on paper but Liverpool will fancy winning all those fixtures. Going to be a real difficult month and if we manage to be in top 5 after those fixtures conclude, then we must have done something really well.

I cannot even bare to read the media after that shit show yesterday I was watching the game was my lads and kept saying 'this is going to en in tears' and they kept saying 'fuck off dad your boring' You could smell what was going to happen, we are becoming bottle jobs
-
I agree with others that there really isn't a realistic 'WC' target for the striking position out there atm. If we're still experimenting with forwards, I'd like to see what a returning Jackson (yes, that flopping card-magnet Jackson), could do linking up with Joao Pedro in attack, if he doesn’t seek a permanent move. Unlikely that it will happen, with Delap having been here only 1 season. Club is likely to give him more time to settle.
-
Jury is still out on Rosenior too, IMO, so you can add that to the list. I'll give him full credit for the performances in the opening fixtures and getting Joao Pedro back on song, but the last two games are making me skeptical. You can't be dropping points against the likes of Leeds or Burnley at home., even if the players are largely at fault for most of it. This kind of shit happened under Maresca too, albeit with more pedestrian football being played.

I think targeting a top striker is just fairy tale stuff, hardly any even exist in modern football and to get one we'll need to get lucky at some point - Liverpool thought they could just go and spend big and get it sorted with Isak... It is not that simple at all. As we ourselves have seen countless times. Overall I am happy with JP there and although we could be better we have scored 48 PL goals so far this year, but we have conceded a similar amount of goals to the teams in 13th-15th. My overwhelming priority for years has been to just get back to being a truly elite defensive side, strong depth of elite CBs+DMs with an elite GK behind is the proven recipe at Chelsea. Arsenal have flagrantly copied our model and shown that it still is the most realistic strategy in modern football unless you've got City level money (and City level willingness to breach the financial rules). It is never surprising to anyone when our PL season goes off the rails because we are building on a foundation made out of fucking wet paper and the whole point of leagues is they brutally expose that. We are a cup team for now.
-
And there aren’t even any financial excuses. We secured Champions League qualification, won the Club World Cup, and it was the perfect moment to bring in proper, top-level reinforcements. What’s happened is unbelievable.
-
It’s unbelievable how bad this transfer window actually was when you really think about it. Signing Estêvão — a young winger with talent — fine, that makes sense. But then what did the board do? They went and signed three young wingers with “potential” for the future — Gittens, Estêvão and Garnacho. There isn’t a single proven, top-level player in there. It was obvious we needed a centre-back. Maresca himself asked for one, and they ignored it. We needed at least one established, top-quality centre-back, and we got nothing. It’s honestly shocking. We moved on from Jackson and brought in Delap — another young player. The goalkeeper situation still hasn’t been sorted out. And for Cucurella, instead of proper competition, they signed another youngster with potential, while Gusto is being played there out of position to cover. It’s ridiculous. And everyone knew we’d need proper depth because there was no pre-season. Liverpool won the game and now it’s only a matter of time before we drop out of the top five. Arsenal and Villa are next — I honestly think this is going to be a tragic end to the season.
-
Mean not surprising seeing as we have only won 12 games anyway..dropped points in 15 other games

after the WC CFs, here the next best a mixture of older ones, youth, EPL flops, and potentailly good ones some are not available (strikethroughs) the five in bold are the best targets IMHO, and these are all young Rayan and Junior Kroupi at least are doing well so far in the EPL Matheus Cunha Nick Woltemade Viktor Gyökeres (doubt Arse would sell him, and he has also been a bit of a flop in terms of us paying what Arse would demand to sell him) Omar Marmoush Marcus Thuram Benjamin Sesko Kai Havertz Samu Aghehowa (tore up his ACL, out until at least October 31, 2026) Ferran Torres Moise Kean Rasmus Højlund Serhou Guirassy Evanilson Pio Esposito (hard AF pull, Inter likely will not sell him, and he does not want to leave Italy) Ange-Yoan Bonny Vitor Roque Igor Thiago Gonçalo Ramos Jonathan David Yoane Wissa Dušan Vlahović Jhon Durán Joaquín Panichelli Rayan Mikel Oyarzabal Conrad Harder Junior Kroupi Franculino Djú Karl Etta Eyong Ivan Toney Eliezer Mayenda Kauã Elias Francesco Camarda Aleksandar Mitrović Kader Meïté Jhon Córdoba

who? Other than perhaps Osimhen, what 'top CF' (ie WC) is available and will come here? here is every world class (now, not potentially) world class striker (plus the 3 ancient ones who have beem WC for 15 or so years or more) only 2 are 26yo and under all of next season, and IF we are talking the summer 2027 window, Ekitiké, who of course is not available anyway, would be the only one within BlueCo's age restrictions Osimhen is proably the only one on this list that we might, MIGHT have a shot at, Alvarez's price is insane, so forget him, maybe Isak would come, IF Pool sell him, but he is a true dice roll atm given his health and his production maybe maybe Lautaro, by why would he come here, especially IF we have no CL next season?? Erling Håland turns 26yo Kylian Mbappé turns 28yo Alexander Isak (IF Pool sells him) turns 27yo Julián Alvarez turns 27yo Ousmane Dembélé turns 30yo (during the last several weeks of next season) Lautaro Martínez turns 29yo Hugo Ekitiké turns 24yo Victor Osimhen turns 28yo Harry Kane turns 33yo and the 3 ancient ones Cristiano Ronaldo turns 42yo Robert Lewandowski turns 38yo (why would he come here even IF the board says lets get him for 2 or 3 years (ie ages 37 to 40yo or so) Karim Benzema turns 39yo Atletico Madrid want £175 million for Julian Alvarez https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/transfer-news/Chelsea-need-to-walk-away-after-latest-demand-from-julian-alvarezs-camp/ As per Cadena SER, Julian Alvarez’s camp has informed interested clubs that his price is around €200m (£175m). This would be the second-highest transfer in history and the most expensive signing ever in England. But the report also stated that Alvarez is more likely to sign a new deal with Atletico Madrid rather than leave the club in the summer. Let’s be real, it’s highly unlikely that Chelsea would entertain an offer above £100 million, let alone the price they’re asking for. For a player who’s struggling for form, demanding that kind of price clearly points towards them wanting Alvarez to stay at all costs.

shameful just shameful ☹️

Yeah I don’t get why players celebrate tackles. Its quite embarrassing. But its common in modern day football…. Strange sub but don’t forget Reece has been playing in games where we’ve been all over the place still from set plays and that too. Don’t think him organising the defenders as you put it would’ve made a difference, doesn’t strike me as that sort of player/captain. Genuinely not sure he’d be captain if he wasn’t from the academy. By all accounts he’s great at organising days out/team meals though 😂 Rosenoir pretty blunt with his assessment after the game, highlighted 4 or 5 big issues. Hes not wrong. On players lacking accountability 100% nail on the head, the standard of defending is abysmal. Nobody wants to do it. This is one of the softest teams we have ever had, which is embarrassing when you look at the spend and the apparent level of players. In all honesty, I am sick to death of Enzo Fernandez, the guy is a joke. Stealing a living. How he’s got a World Cups winners medal is beyond me. Good with the ball an absolute passenger without it. We need a top GK, top CB, top CM to pair with Caicedo & a top CF in the summer. Then we might be a sure thing for top 4 next season.

When do they start pointing the finger at the sporting directors?
