Premier League thread

Has the alarm bell rung once too often now?

Arsenal's Champions' League chances are hanging by a thread and City's are too. The Citizens might have picked up a slightly better result than Arsenal's but in truth they should have been at least 4 or 5 down at half time. We can't crow either. The pundits will probably spend the next week talking about Chelsea being the exception but none of us here will be fooled by that. Our draw masked a dreadful performance last week and we know it.

What the heck is up with our league? Do we have things too easy? Will the money roll in for the players no matter what and is the same true for the Chairmen? If they sign good players the TV cash floods in but what happens if they sign only adequate players? They still find themselves swimming in oceans of cash. These are only the same speculations we've all thought about after previous poor seasons in Europe but can we ignore the situation any longer?

Now is the time to ask these questions before any potential miracle results come along to turn the ties around and lull us back to a false sense of security. Something is broken.

lol, where have you been

Europe has moved from having walcotts and Sterling, to having people with the combination of

ball control,

passing,

dribbling and

vision.

If you don't have 4 players in your starting line-up with this quality, you can only park the bus to win the Champions League.

One of the problems of Manchester City is the way the groups are formed. 3 years ago they played with Dortmund and Madrid in the group, last season Bayern and then they played Barcelona, and this season again the same. There is a lot of incompetence from the managers that should win at least sometimes this big games, but on the other hand... Man City are really unlucky.

About Arsenal I can't understand how they can be humilliated at home by this mess of a team. Arsenal is a lot better than Monaco.

Arsenal is not better than monaco. Epl have overrated teams like city arsenal united and liverpool. In reality they are mediocre teams. liverpool lost to basel and got outplayed.

Epl hypes the player like sterling ibe kane ,but in reality they are average.

For Example Look at Emre Can and Alexis Sanchez,Fabregas. They looked pretty darn average in their leagues but suddenly they are world class in EPL.

English players and English teams are mostly overrated. Other leagues have some incredible talents that don't even get half of the attention as the likes of Wilshere. At the moment, even the Premier League is overrated. La Liga has a very good, improved competition for the title, while maintaining 3 serious Champions League contenders. It's pretty disappointing how much the Premier League has fallen in terms of quality in the past couple of years. It has all become fancy little players going forward but defensively and mentally, we are the only team who can stand out in Europe. Teams like Arsenal will continue to embarrass English Football if they don't adapt can keep playing with their stubborn, predictable style.

Anyways, over to us to save the 4th place once again for the Gunners.

The change to the seeding system from 2015-2016 on is, in most seasons, going to make things worse for all but one of our clubs.

Well I suppose I could agree that La Liga has a good balance. I honestly think Atletico Madrid has MADE La Liga better because their squad literally has enough balance to compete with the likes of Barcelona and Real at the top. Most of the players that Simeone has moulded have the exact same traits, for example, he's able to bring on like for like in a game (Koke for Gabri; Torres for Mandzukic).

But I digress, The Premier League, in terms of youth development has gotten stale. There's far too many foreigners in the league, and some teams have struggled to blood English talent. I say Southampton and Spurs have contributed more than any Premier League club this season. Southampton's unexpected success, while Harry Kane has sprouted instantly for Spurs (saying from an England fan's point of view of course). Whether he's worth putting on an England jersey I've yet to see, but he definitely has the right form and mentality.

There needs to be more "Harry Kanes" in every position for every team in the Premier League, there simply isn't enough IMO. The youth will come eventually, but as Gary Neville said once after the World Cup last year having seen Germany win it with all their youth; "You can't just go in there waving a magic wand".

Just look at emre can, average in bundesliga suddenly world class in premier league.

Who in what world calls Emre Can world class? He barely even starts for Liverpool. He's only been getting game time recently because Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson are injured.

Posts like these are highly inaccurate and annoying.

He has played centre-back for a while now, but totally agree.

And [the change in UEFA's seeding system will make things worse for] the others also.

Not for all the others no.

Only Spain (3), England (2) and Portugal (2), had more than one top seed in this season's Champions' League draw. Next season those countries will be allocated just one top seed by right. One country might be able to claim a second club in pot one but only if that club are the European Champions.

Other countries will gain from the change. France and Italy, for example, had no top seeds this season but will be guaranteed at least one next time around. The situation for Russia will be even better. From my memory, Russia has never had a top seed in the Champions' League/European Cup draw but they will do in 2015/16.
