A question - how many on here are fairly religious in nature, or believe in the concept of a God?

I lean towards being agnostic. I hardly ever visit temples (my mum's pet grouse ), have done most of the stuff I am not supposed to in Hindusim and find most of it extremely outdated and irrelevant. I think religion does more harm than good generally and is responsible for a fair ratio of all the problems in the world.

I would call myself as being a believer in spirituality though.

Let's not convert this into a slanging match between believers and non-believers, just looking for an honest, clean discussion.

I believe that the concept of a God is to make our human minds as an ease, that because we are a curious species and have to discover a reasoning for everything and how it is, the concept seems most favourable and easiest to comprhend. I am between an atheist and agnostic. I have nothing against religion, but those that use religion as an excuse to do inhumane actions. In the end of it all, all the religions in the world - or most anyway - all point to the same direction, but they are just different roads.

But i am against war over religious beliefs, as in the end that is what it is, a belief.

I wouldn't be a very religious person but I am a catholic and I do believe in god. I refuse to go to church after the revelations of the Catholic Church in Ireland, as part of my college course we had to study it and now I won't even talk to a priest even if they had nothing to do with what happened. I wouldn't read the bible because to be honest I think its stupid (don't mean to offend anyone) and I wouldnt take part in rituals or go to confession or anything like that. I will go to mass for funerals but no way will I take part in the rosary because it scares me. I'm a bit confused to be honest and havn't really made up my mind as to what exactly I believe!

Evolution for one lays waste to religious fairytales of creationism, and Adam and Eve being the original man and women. Radio carbon dating lays waste to all the arguments of the earth only being a few thousand years old.

Given the fact that I come from the Czech Republic, which is not really a religious country, I am an atheist. However I fully respect other people opinions and beliefs.

I hate when people say I'm Atheist. I'm not religious, Atheist is not a religion or belief. Atheist does not exist! I'm not religious and never will be and I don't care what people think or say. Religion is a no no for me because following certain beliefs aint gonna change anything that happens to you. It makes no sense to me, we only live once, i don't wanna spend it listening to how i should live it with so many pointless boundaries wondering if there really is a god or not. And who cares about heaven and hell, you will only find out when your dead anyway so kinda pointless. God built the earth and every other planet and all the suns and every kind of material and atom and whatever, yeah... likely.... What is god? how was god made? And God isn't a name, it's a thing, it's a God, how many Gods, what is this Gods name, it can't be God lol... It's impossible to believe because quite frankly it's impossible to happen. Sometimes i feel someone is controlling what happens to me but that's all in the mind. You'll never know so there's point debating it.

Just live your life how you want and when you die, see what happens

I believe in the spiritual part tho because the energy when you die has to go somewhere. I know people who have encountered ghosts and seen them.
