if spuds win today v wolves

and if we lose to Leicester

Villa could really fuck us so hard their last two games

if Villa lose to Spuds but then beat us

then we are but a few results away from crashing out of even the Europa League (only one true emergency handbrake in that scenario, Everton v Citeh)

 

assume that all above happens

then for us to crash entirely of out Europe the following needs to happen:

Spuds need to beat Leicester (coin toss, and the 2nd most likely to stop it all on paper)

West Ham need to beat West Brom and SOTON (pretty likely, SOTON might be tricky)

Liverpool need to win just 2 of 3, all against absolute shit teams (99.5% going to happen)

Everton need to beat Sheffield United, Wolves, and the big one Citeh, but Pep may start all scrubs getting ready for the CL final

 

if that all happens

bye bye even EL for us, unless we beat Citeh in the CL final

Pool 99% likely goes above us on goals scored no matter what with only a win, a draw, and a loss (as long as that loss is by only one goal if they only win by 1 goal)

we both would be on 64 points

the best GD possible for us (we lose both by only one goal each) is 20 GD

the worst possible GD for Pool if they draw, lose one by one goal, and win one by just one goal is 20 as well, but they already have a 6 goals scored lead on us, plus a game in hand)

the only positive (not much of one at that point) is that  all 3 of spuds, West ham, and Everton can finish on 65, and it only takes one of them hitting 65 to knock pool out of CL as well (at that point would love it to be west ham, and they have the easiest games left by far) at that point

if we beat Leicester, then Spuds (of all teams, lol) can guarantee us CL with a win (100% lock then) or a draw versus Leicester, a draw works as long as we (if we win v Leicester by only one goal) do not lose by 3 or more goals v Villa

we beat Leicester we are on 67 points with a (at worst) 23 GD

Leicester will be on 66 points with a (at best) 20 GD after we beat them

a draw with spuds leaves them on 67 with a 20 GD (at best) at season end

if we both finish on 67 and both finish exactly with a +20 GD, they go though 99.9% for sure as they have a +10 goals scored lead on us

For once, I'm glad Spuds eon today.

Mason is doing a good job so far and no doubt he'll want this  run to continue to give himself a chance of getting the job fulltime.  He might get it if they finish with 2 more wins and if they get 2 wins that would guarentee us top four if we beat Leicester.
