A person I know just recently had a friend that was murdered while trying to save a woman from being raped. She died later on in hospital.

I thought I'd share it.

It is so sad to see nice people departing too early. My mom used to teach at university and just today she was telling me how sad she was because she found out one of her students died in a car accident. I can't really know but I think every teacher who really takes his job seriously dreams of watching his students fulfilling their dreams and having success in their lives and it probably hits them hard when things like these happen. And I bet it is even worse when they're murdered like that.

It hits me hard every time something happens to one of my students, current or former. They are in a way still my kids even after they graduate and move on. I still check on them and like hearing about their lives, so when something bad happens it hits makes me sad too. This hits me twice as hard to because I know most of his friends and I know they are hurting too. So senseless.

Thanks for the kind words.

@Full, how very sad. A tragedy in so many ways. I hope they find the people responsible.

@BluesChick, so sad to hear that. I hope they catch whoever is responsible so everyone who knew can have some sort of closure.

I'm pretty much currently feeling like:  :banghead: Midterm exams are always a huge cause for stress, and they haven't even started!

Dude you got to chill...

You are always panicking because of your exams or university work, relax!

Enjoy your life, do the things you love, you cant let it drive you insane!

Hmm i dont get stressed by exams most of the time except for the day itself, then it's "o darn do i still know that stuff / did'nt i forget to learn something?!", i kinda like periods before exams anyways, my motivation to study is way bigger then :)

@Choulo, just make a schedule? Perhaps you will feel better if you see you will be ready in time if you follow that.

Wait, arent you an undergrad?

Mundaka gave you a nice advice there mate. I think you cant let anything overrun you, you cant be a slave of anything (job, school, etc).

I am suffering with this, cant let it completely take you. Try to keep things balanced!

No. I finished my Bachelor in Science last year and am now doing my Masters in Science.

Yeah, I'll try, thanks :)

Best advice I can give you as med student is make a schedule and regardless of school - do what you like, be with your friends. There will be times where you must prioritize, but the paradox in life is that if you solely concentrate on one thing you will not get it. Best of luck, Choulo, don't forget your xpert11 tactics! :D

I literally came in here to moan about exams/CW but looks like we are all on the same wave length.

I've got 1 month to write up my 5000 word dissertation, a 4000 word research report, revise for an exam and prepare a presentation. This is a lot, but its perfectly manageable.... if i got down to do it!!

Im on the edge of messing up my degree. im averaging at 61 (want a 2:1 which is achieved by getting 60-69) and if i mess up these last few modules thats it ill end up with a useless 2:2 and owuld have wasted 3 years.

I seem to not be able to do any work until 1 week within the deadline, this si usually ifne, however, everythign is due in on the same week, so i have to get some done in advance of this deadline but i just can't seem to motivate myself to do it. Im on my laptop now writing all this open with all the documents i need open to get on with my work but i cant be bothered. Im watching the lion king for the third time in 3 days. Scar is a knob. Mufusa should have dealt with his ass right at the start of this film.

anyway, any tips to motivate me? i know what i have to do. i have to be in a decent enviornment with no distractions and get on with it. but i dont want to do that. Ive been setting myself little deadlines like "have this section done by the end of hte day" and i find myself watching the lion king. again. "look Simba, everything the light touches is our Kingdom" - thats where im at now ;)
