  1. 1. What type of player do we need the most?

    • Centre back (Injury crisis there)
      7
    • Striker (Too reliant on Drogba)
      8
    • Winger (Anelka, Kalou inconsistent)
      12
    • Playmaker (No imagination in the midfield)
      33
    • Goalkeeper (No decent backup to Cech)
      0
    • Other
      0

Im gonna throw this out there to put the cat amongst the pigeons so to speak, im actually starting to think maybe we need a new goal keeper and not just a backup, for me cech isnt the same player he once was, for me alot of goals he has conceded this season where savable if he made an attempt to get it, to many times ive seen him over the last couple of years look like he is going to attempt the save then seemingly decide he wont get there so doesnt attempt it, he merely watches the ball go past him before tying to gee up the defence, he is still one of the better goalkeepers around but I think if somebody came in with a big bid then id consider selling if we could find a suitable replacement like lloris or somebody like that.

Also an attacking midfielder with abit of guile, vision and flair somebody who can play in the hole.

I hope this is a joke. Cech has been a class above all season. Without him in goal we would of conceded a lot more goals then we already have.

cech has probably made the least mistakes of any of our defenders ,,,,and a high % of top class saves ...a better keeper could not be found

I'd be willing to talk about it before the Liverpool game, now it's just a knee-jerk reaction as this man has been our player of the season and one mistake won't erase all his world class performances.

Cech did a few brilliant saves against Liverpool. I'd rather point to our tactics and link between midfield and forwards. We lack a good quality playmaker with vision, pace and technique. Every successful team has one. You can argue that we've got Lampard but he is playing so deep nowadays that he can rarely shoot or get forward. Barcelona has Xavi, Inter has Snejider and so on. We need either a quality AMF or wide players to strech defensive blocks Inter, Man City and Liverpool tend to use nowadays.

Yeah, replace John Terry as well.

Not that i'm blaming Cech for yesterday, but maybe we do need a keeper to keep Cech on his toes as there's not really that much competition in his department.

I would like to see Shay Given or the Fulham keeper(Stockdale) arrive as a No2 to Cech,as Turnball hasn't been involved in that many games to be so competitive.

Given although hasn't had much games this season,is a proven shot stopper, while Stockdale is definetley one for the future.

But i laugh at anyone who suggests that Cech hasn't been the same since his injury at Reading back in 2006.He's still Chelsea's No1 by a mile.He just needs competition,i feel.
