watched like 30 min of the first half - not a great game tbh - but puslic was really good! USA is always the same story: good buildup until the final ball hits the ball boy.

Not sure hitting altidore would be any better tho.

BTW, as a gremio supporter, would definitely recommend we go after the other everton (Soares). It's not just the goals and overall quality, but the attitude and drive. Too bad about the ban, but Gremio wouldn't mind keeping him a little longer...

2 cents on the women's game: in a low scoring sport that football is, the US nt winning so easily and often, does not bode well for the sport. I know US folks here think otherwise, and it is counterintuitive, but I just can't see that dominance in a single-elimination competition being anything other than just showcasing the gulf that separates them from the other teams.

Just thought folks here would get this point - a point I rarely can make at home. ;)

Yup you are on point. Not really big fan of wwc. The gulf of quality is too big. The problem with the other team is that usually they don't have a complete team whereas US has good player in every position.

they were great, but not DOMINANT

dominant is Lyon at club level

4 straight CLs, 6 out of last 9 (and twice runners up)

13 straight league titles, 9 straight league cups

7 of the top 10 players in the world, and 17, 18 or so of top 30

2014-15

look at their league table, lolol and PSG was unbeaten, no draws, except for the 2 losses v Lyon, and that year PSG lost the final in the CL, as they had a massively controversial game in the CL were they upset Lyon at home nil 1 (Lyon had drew 1 1 at PSG , also crazy bad refs against Lyon there too, so only need a nil nil), with the refs absolutely cheating Lyon out of it (4 goals called back, and a crazy non call that allowed PSG to score only goal of the game in the last 10 minutes)

Lotta Schelin, the greatest Swedish player by far ever, was their superstar then, along with who is now the best player in the world, Ada Hegerberg (first-ever recipient of the Ballon d'Or Féminin this year)

GD PLUS 141, roflmaoo 147 scored 6 conceded

pick any of the last 7 or so Lyon teams

they would crush the US national team

I saw a little of Bayern v. Real yesterday.
It was a match without fouls -almost.
Courtois conceded his usual three goals, Hazard was not impressive.

the last two Bayern goals (they won 3 1) were off Keylor Navas, not Cuntois
