I wonder what you mean by 'clowns'. A lot of research has actually been done on the relation between humor and intelligence, and most shows a high correlation between the two. It depends on how you define intelligence, of course (the studies correlate with IQ tests) and if you are adressing the joking around on this forum or just the dumb posts.
