I am not sure which festival you are referring to because there are too many here() and you might be referring to some particular cultural thing.Diwali is one universal festival celebrated across the whole country with people lighting up their houses with candles and divas, now a days some fancy LEDs as well. It's usually a 2 day celebration ending with bursting of crackers(which i don't really advocate when it gets too loud and smoky but it's traditional).
