Chelsea have signed midfielder Nemanja Matic from MFK Kosice, according to the Slovakian club.

The 20-year-old, who has played youth football for Serbia, completed a switch to Stamford Bridge for £1.5m on Monday, a statement said on www.mfkkosice.sk.

MSK president Blazej Podolak said: "At around five o'clock in the evening we signed the contract on the transfer. Matic goes for 1.75 million euros.

"The success was down to the the fact that the money does not come in instalments, but immediately."

He wont go ANYWHERE lol! He's out injured for a while with a metatarsal injury which stopped him starring in the U21 Championship. After thet he will be in the reserves....At least Chelsea are TRYING to improve their youth policy...And we are after this other player, 16 years old and considered to be the "new Robinho"...However we have been beaten by Man City because of their Brazilian contingent, and the secretly arranged to bring him over to England to look around....But were trying!

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic wanted by Bologna in loan deal

Bologna are keen to sign promising Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old Serb - who has already been capped twice at senior level - was greeted with excitement when he penned a four-year deal with the Blues last summer.

The £1.5m signing from MFK Kosice made three appearances from the bench for Carlo Ancelotti's side, but a move to Italy should give the 6ft 4in giant a chance to play more regular first-team football.

The Italian side are desperate to strengthen after finishing just one place above the relegation zone in Serie A last season.

Would be suprised to see Matic go on loan, he made good inroads last season and is the right age to be getting first team chances. Very composed on the ball and one we should be giving more games to this season.
