Messi slams "physical" Chelsea

Messi slams Chelsea

"They wanted to make it a messy, broken-up match, very stop-start. A physical contest more than football.

"That's not our way. Our way is to want the ball all the time.

"When a team plays like that, you think. 'How can it be a team with players as good as that doesn't even try to play the ball? How can they just sit there?' " Chelsea took the lead in the second leg at Stamford Bridge when Michael Essien spectacularly volleyed home.

But a series of debatable decisions from Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo allowed Barca to stay in the tie and grab the goal that sent them through.

Messi, however, remembers the match only for what he claims was Chelsea's basic style of play.

He added: "They got the ball, gave it to the goalie and he thumped it. And that was it. It's hard to believe a team that reached last year's final and have been Premier League champions could play like that."

What has messi got against us ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

because he knows in his heart of hearts we deserved to be in the final.

if he is a perfectionist this will eat him up until he wins it again, seems as he wants to be the greatest.

It is ridiculous that teams like Barcelona expect other teams to play right into their hands and not disrupt their "wonderful" football. We showed the world how to contain and beat Barcelona, and due to some poor choices by the ref and just sheer bad luck we were not the team to go through into the final.

He said something similar a few years ago after they played Rangers......

Lionel Messi has accused Rangers of playing "anti-football" in last night's goalless Champions League game at Ibrox and warned they will suffer at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona dominated for large spells in the Group E match but failed to break down a stubborn Rangers defence. Walter Smith's men held on for the point which keeps them joint top of the group ahead of the return leg in a fortnight's time. But while Rangers were thrilled with the draw, Messi was less than impressed by their tactics.

"It's incredible," he said. "Rangers didn't want to play football. They practised anti-football from the first minute and it's a shame we couldn't take victory because we created a good number of chances. We just didn't put them away. I think that when they come to the Camp Nou everything is going to be very different."

The 20-year-old Messi added: "We need to find a solution for breaking down a team who close down so much, but I don't believe we will come across many teams who play this way."

Bear in mind thats the same Rangers team who got to the UEFA Cup final.

Frankly, he can go fuck his sister.

Chelsea and rangers can never be compared.

The UEFA Cup is/was of similar stature to the Cup Winners Cup we won in 1998, so to come out with a statement that its a nothing tournament is utter crap. Does that mean by your reasoning that our CWC win is meaningless ?

Who's comparing Chelsea and Rangers ?

Messi is complaining that we played a negative game to stop them playing their flowing football. Rangers deployed the same tactic and he came out with the same comments. Wheres the comparison other than a tactic used by the respective managers?

Seriously.........you're a numpty

the comments made towards Chelsea and the comments he made towards rangers where compared.

turns out they are similar, because they where 'compared'

and what I'm implying is that similarity's in messi's comments towards the two clubs should never be compared, evidently.
