Special Juan 28,187
I'd like to see Santos involved at some point here and see what he has got, a smattering of changes but with an outlook to making sure we get minutes into legs but don't go overkill. Start Delap, rest Jackson, start Santos and rest Enzo the rest is up for debate

NikkiCFC 8,369
South American teams are great so far. No one can beat them. This means so much to them. I'm fine with draw and topping the group with nice scoreline against Tunisians.
Special Juan 28,187
Rotation, Santos in midfield please, Delap to start, Lavia to start, Essugo and Nkunku Gives a few a good rest
King Kante 1,643
Maresca will have to actually allow us to go out and play tonight. Flamingo are the best team in Brazil currently and this tournament means everything to them. Playing OAP walking football will be a recipe for disaster. Palmeiras is especially obsessed with winning a global championship other than the disputed one they won at Copa Rio (played in 1951 and 1952 only) in 1951 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1951_Copa_Rio Big 12 clubs: Atlético Mineiro, Botafogo, Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Flamengo, Fluminense, Grêmio, Internacional, Palmeiras, Santos, São Paulo, and Vasco da Gama. These are the six Big 12 teams who have won either the Interncontinental Cup or the FIFA World Club Cup Intercontinental Cup winners Santos 1962, 1963 (the Pelé-led best ever, IMHO, Brasilian sides) São Paulo 1992, 1993 (Cafu-led) Grêmio 1983 (Renato Gaúcho-led) Flamengo 1981 (Zico-led) FWCC winners Corinthians 2000, 2012 (grrrr) São Paulo 2005 Internacional 2006 that leaves these six Big 12 Brasil teams without a true global championship (although the first 3 teams listed claim one, see below) Palmeiras (won the 1951 Copa Rio, but lost the Intercontinental Cup in 1999 and the FWCC final in 2021, (to Chels) Fluminense (won the 1952 Copa Rio, but lost the FWCC final in 2023, they did win the Tournoi de Paris in 1976 and 1987) Vasco da Gama (won the 1953 Torneio Octogonal Rivadavia Correa Meyer (played once, it was the successor to the Copa Rio), but lost the Intercontinental Cup in 1998 and the FWCC final in 2000, also lost the Small Club World Cup final in 1956, they also did win the Tournoi de Paris in 1957) Atlético Mineiro (they never played in the IC, nor in a FWCC final (they did win 3rd place in 2013), they did win the Tournoi de Paris in 1982) Botafogo (lost the Small Club World Cup final in 1952 and in 1957, never played in the IC nor in a FWCC final, they did win the Tournoi de Paris in 1963) Cruzeiro (lost the Intercontinental Cup in 1976 and in 1997, never played in a FWCC final)
Special Juan 28,187
Based on what is being said on here it sounds like Flamengo are like Liverpool on crack.... This might be good for our lot, make them stand to attention and wake the fuck up from the off
Pizy 18,985
Yep, this should certainly be a test of how much our players actually care about this competition compared to the clubs who are treating it like a massive prize. Maresca has already said he’s going to rotate a lot for the CWC so I’m interested to see which areas he does so. I don’t think he’s going to rotate Moi or Enzo. Nor Palmer and Cucu. But everywhere else I can see it. Think we should go with an athletic, aggressive XI.

After PSG's shock result earlier, victory tonight gives us a very good chance to progress to the last 16 and avoid a clash with Bayern Munich in that round. Then, if we reach the quarters, there's a good chance we'll avoid PSG there. There's no doubt that the clubs would want the money for progression in this tournament. It's just a question of which ones manage to get their squads excited about it too. Edited June 20 by OhForAGreavsie
Special Juan 28,187
wow that line up... He wil be crying come the season start when players are hanging out their arses. mkh 620
FIFA website is calling our shape a 3-5-2 with Gusto and Cucurella as wing-backs. Neto and Delap as strikers. Chalobah CCB, Reece RCB, Colwill LCB. Palmer CAM, Enzo and Caicedo as the midfield pivot.
Pizy 18,985
Man, there really is a massive black hole on our left side. We badly need another attacker or preferably two. Genuinely feels crazy that the club is reportedly SUPER keen on winning this tournament and taking it seriously yet they let Sancho leave, knew Mudryk is gone, and have not aggressively gone after replacements before it started. At least 1 left sided player should’ve been signed weeks ago.
