Everton vs Chelsea

Sounds like Lavia is out again this weekend. It’s starting to get super frustrating now. He picks up an injury seemingly every 2 matches and misses time. He’s such a talent and makes everyone’s life easier but just cannot stay fit. And he’s only 20 years old! How is someone so young so injury prone?

Just Badi, Fofana, and Lavia injured and Cucu suspended. We will have a full squad with plenty of depth.

Lavia & Cucu both being out for this one could hurt us if Everton setup to counter attack, I guess. But tbh if there’s any opponent that you could hand pick to be missing a few defensive players against it’s this current Everton side who can’t score goals.

I think I heard that they had like 25% possession against Arse the other day. We know they can’t score to save their lives but are also very solid defensively at times.

Unfortunately not.

James and Mudryk also out. 6 senior players out, I wouldn't quite say full squad.

James is always out and Mudryk was not going to start and probably not coming off the bench.

With Neto, Sancho, Jackson, and Palmer starting, I think our offense will be fine. Midfield will be fine. Cucu will be missed the most.

Not great to hear Badi and Fofana are put for at least a month. For me, this pushes up the need for a CB. We already needed this, but of fitness is also going to start to be an issue, then we will need to push this up. Either way, here is my predicted line-up:

Sanchez

Gusto Tosin Colwill Veiga

Caicedo Enzo

Neto Palmer Sancho

Jackson

I think we will end up with something like the above as:

a) I can't see us moving Caicedo out or CM without Lavia

b) Gusto hasn't been great out on the left

c) Veiga's height will likely be beneficial on set pieces.

This said, I hate playing Everton away. It is something like 1 win and five losses in the last seven games there. This really isn't as easy a game as some have made out in the media.

If we win this tomorrow we can effectively completely dismiss City as a threat to us this season. Before fucking Christmas!

Imagine telling any of us after that first match of the season when City beat us while barely breaking a sweat that we could be 10 points clear of them by Christmas and that they would be in a serious fight just to finish 4th. It would literally sound impossible!

All 3 points here would give us a ridiculous cushion and margin for error in our quest to secure UCL football. Must win game for me.

Quite worried about Lavia.. He doesn't even have 50 professional appearances by his name yet and constantly in and out with injuries.. It's already end of December in his second season for us and hasn't spent 500 minutes on the pitch yet. Is he ever going to be ready to play 40-50 games a season?
