Apparently he's close to joining Real Madrid who have always been his preferred destination and Chelsea just the second choice if Real don't want him. If a player doesn't want to join us then I wouldn't even want him at the club.

Do you have any quotes from Maicon or his agents to backup your claim?

It couldn't be more obvious. We were the only team wants to sign him, he negotiated with us; Real stepped in, he stalled. Plus, Jose.

I think 3 years is good, any more is getting a bit stupid, as we have no idea what he will be like. Or as other people have said give him 2 years, then have a clause where he can get another year if he can do x,y,z. then if he is good we keep him and if he isn't then someone else can have him... Also lots of these teams are buying the "older" players... Not particularly because they are still amazing (drogba the exception), but because it generates a lot of interest in there club as well as rising ticket sales, shirt sales etc, just because they are a famous name that has been known in the sport for ages. So if say we have him til 34, i reckon we could still sell him for a few million, and het some of the 8 mil investment back...

So...there are no quotes just merely on your own assumptions? Is your assumption that "he stalled" because "Real stepped in" reported by anyone somewhat reliable or by anyone for that matter? Media are mainly speculating it is due to length of contract.

Furthermore Pr22 logic is purely false that he claims since Maicon prefers Madrid he goes on to say "If a player doesn't want to join us then I wouldn't even want him at the club." It is false to assume since he prefers destination A that he wouldn't want to join destination B. I prefer to live in Chicago rather then New York, doesn't mean i wouldn't like to live in New York. I rather sleep with Kate Upton, by no mean i would reject a night with Megan Fox.

As things stand Maicon is not a Chelsea player he can prefer whatever team, if he was employed by Chelsea and expressed his desire to play for Madrid that is different at that point i wouldn't want him at the club either.

Do we know if Mata #1 choice was Chelsea? his father offered him to Barca last summer, would he had prefer to play for them? IDK I'll let you speculate.

How about Hazard? Would he had prefer to play for Madrid if they were hard after him, again i'll let you speculate.

I could go on and on.

My assumptions go back a few years when Real Madrid were seriously trying to sign him and if memory serves there were quotes from him and his agent at the time that a move to Real Madrid would be a dream come true for him, especially now that Mourinho is their manager. Also there have been numerous reports ever since he was first rumoured to be on his way to Chelsea this summer that he would choose Real Madrid over Chelsea if he had the chance, and by the looks of things he now has that chance.

And as for your post later on regarding the cities and the girls, let's put it the other way around. If Maicon doesn't really want to play for us and instead chooses Real Madrid, we are then free to choose from the other good options and assuming one of them actually wants to represent Chelsea as his first choice club then I would naturally prefer him over a mercenary who would come only for the wages. Of course the vast majority of players are mercenaries like that these days and not many of them care which club they play for as long as they get paid and win trophies but still I would rather take my chances with someone else. Wasn't really that into the Maicon transfer from the start and if he chooses another club then it's his loss and I won't shed a tear over him.

I don't think the possibility of losing Maicon to Madrid is a huge blow.. there are other decent right backs out there, and I agree with YuriZhirkov, Azpilicueta is someone we should focus our attention on.. we could snatch Debuchy from under Newcastle's noses but he's not the youngest right back available!

I actually read one blog about us trying to sign Danny Simpson!! :o
