the wes 7,212
I'm 80% sure he'll sign.Carlo Ancelotti has played down speculation linking Sergio Aguero with a January move to Chelsea. The Atletico Madrid striker admitted earlier this week that he would suit Chelsea' s style of play, while he also hailed Didier Drogba as the finest forward in the Premier League. However, Ancelotti has stressed that he is not close to bringing anyone to Stamford Bridge at present. Asked about Aguero, Ancelotti said: "It's not true. We don't have news of a signing, or a contract with any players. "At this moment, we don't think about buying Aguero." ffs

Alee. 182
Im 110% sure hes coming. I wouldnt be surprised if an agreement has been reached already too, so heavily linked. How can Carlo possible say we're not interested when Aguero himself has confirmed our interest! Cant wait to buy Aguero
chrismada9 1,948
Okay, so Carlo reckons that without Drogba, we can still win games with personnel we already have?? He must be on medication! We only just beat Porstmouth at home, we didn't take them to the cleaners like we normally do at home against bottom clubs. Everyone in the sky sports studio said that Chelsea missed Drogba that day. So who's going to fill the boots when he's at the ACON? Sturridge?? Borini?? Kakuta?? Ok they're upcoming players, but they're not playmakers, they have no chance of emulating what Drogba has done over the years for Chelsea. It takes time to be at that stage.Truth of the matter is, we need a playmaker, a prolific gifted striker. It doesn't take a genious to work that out. Carlo is just being an idiot! ZanSnake 1,211
CJ, i think we could use the Christmas tree formation. Anelka alone up front, who has already shown us he can be a lethal striker on his own ie last season. If we play Kakuta, that we have a superb playmaker, as do Deco (when on form) and Joe Cole. Ballack could also fit that role, and maybe even Lampard. Also, i don't see how we can say that Borini that type of player if he hasn't played a full match yet, and the same for Sturridge. We have three options during the ACON: Christmas Tree, 442 Diamond and the old 433, and i think Carlo is smart enough when to chnage tactic when it is needed. Yes Aguero is an awesome player, and i do believe he will come to the Bridge, but he would be a add-on to the great squad we have already, not as a replacement for a player that is gone for a month. IMHO i think that Borini should be ahead of Kalou in the order of strikers anyway, he showed a great sign of brillance in the Portsmouth game, while Kalou didn't make a great impact. chrismada9 1,948
That's all very well saying that Zan, about Deco doing a good job as a playmaker and such like (not that I agree mind) but look how old they are. Deco will be 33 next year, Ballack is already 33, Anelka is 30 at the moment I think, even Lampard is getting to his old playing days now in the 30s and next year, Terry will follow suit. We have an ageing squad with absolutely no upcoming stars. And when we do get upcoming stars, ones with real promise to them, they just leave us. I really thought Lassana Diarra would flourish at Chelsea, but then he got bitchy and fucked off to Arsenal. Aguero will fit into Chelsea like Rooney did at United, like Torres did at Liverpool, like Henry did when he was at Arsenal. He wants to come, the fans want him to come? What's Carlo's problem. If we don't buy anyone in January, and our transfer ban comes active, what the fuck are we going to do?? We'll have no chance of replacing the ageing players we have here. ZanSnake 1,211
Bruma, Cork, Kakuta, Matic, Borini Sturridge, Mellis, Bertrand, Van Aanholt, Clifford, Mitrovic, they could all become first teamers if their development goes right and are given a chance. And with what has been said above, Carlo said that he wasn't going to leave milan and come to Chelsea, and guess what! He did. He's trying to manipulate the media, which is a good method as it would make even more speculation when we sign him. Kajo 176
It is true that Aguero will come to Stanford Bridge?it's hard to say Ancelotti saying we don't sign him or any other player during January transfer window. Aguero said Chelsea style of play is appropriate for him but he also said he don't go anywhere.
Alee. 182
Aguero mulls over pay-cut to make Chelsea moveAtletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero must take a pay-cut to join Chelsea. The People says Aguero will have to take a pay cut to seal a record £40million-plus move from Atletico Madrid in the transfer window. The Argentinian attacker's handlers have been in negotiations with the Premier League leaders for a couple of weeks, but the major snag is his personal demands. Chelsea are worried about handing Aguero a contract worth £150,000-aweek or more because it would spark a spiral of requests for more cash among their existing stars. The bottom line is that Aguero would have to accept around £110,000 to £120,000 a week and that would leave him in a worse position than he is in Spain. The South American star is willing to quit La Liga despite his public statements of loyalty to Atletico. An insider claimed the deal was at 'stalemate' until one side changes its stance. He said: "Sergio would like to come but he does not want to take a pay cut. "It just needs Roman Abramovich to take some positive action and get his cheque book out or the whole move could collapse - he could do that with a simple nod of his head."http://www.tribalfootball.com/aguero-mulls-over-pay-cut-make-Chelsea-move-522261 Edited December 21, 2009 by Alee. Alee. 182
I dont see why we're not signing him yet, if the problem is his wage bill, i dont see why we cant pay what Atletico were paying, Atleti have financial problems, and i see them selling Aguero come May, be it to Chelsea, Real Madrid or Manchester city. However in our case, i feel it has to be January, we cant rely on the transfer embargo to be completely lifted, we cant take that risk, if we're going to buy him, we should do it now. Even if we loan him back. But, with the African Cup of Nations coming, i dont see why we'd do that. Kalou (thank god) and Drogba will leave for ACON come Jan. We'll only have Nico, Sturridge and Borini. No way is that enough if we are looking to win the Premier league. We've already slipped alot, if we do more, we're sure to drop down from the top, and once that happens, its very hard to go back to the top. We've been in this position before, and we've lost the season from this position before, This time we cant afford slip-ups, and not buying a striker will be exactly that.In three words: BUY HIM NOW
carefreeluke 27
I don't see why it's so important we sign him. Firstly, we haven't got the hardest fixture list in January anyways. We could have Anelka up front on his own or with one of the youngsters. This could be a great time for Kakuta, Borini and Strurridge to prove their worth. We also have the option of bring backing Di Santo who has done well at Blackburn. We are also going to have to pay a lot of money for Aguero who might not be even first choice with Anelka and Drogba. I doubt he will like sitting on the bench as well. While also he's just getting in the way of our youngsters anyway.
