Special Juan 28,517
This is a really important point now, if we break this loan recall and keep him on the bench or sidelined we have seriously fucked this lad. This only makes sense if we start his regular and he takes the place of the shite like Tosin, Badshir etc This decison could make or break this kid

Special Juan 28,517
Apparently he's coming back and we are doing more business in the coming days... We are in the race for Jacquet but for the summer with Liverpool and Bayern, so we aren't winning that race Extra business could happen next week

Vesper 30,738
Sources: Chelsea weighing up options around centre backs but still working on Jeremy Jacquet The latest... https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/sources-Chelsea-weighing-up-options It’s been a bit of an up and down last week or so on the transfer front. Chelsea have plans for this window now in terms of incomings, as we reported. But there has been some obstacles in the way that has put doubts around some of these proposed incoming deals the club are trying to pull off. The main one of course is centre back Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes. So what is the latest on that? Do Chelsea have a backup plan? And are they already working on another idea? Yes, they are. More below… Chelsea’s sporting directors left France on Monday after holding what SPTC Sources described as positive talks with Rennes regarding a move to sign Jacquet. There was still some things to sort out in the deal, but everything on the player side was positive and all but done. On the club side, things were not done. Chelsea have continued a dialogue with Rennes this week but no longer face to face, and it is true that the idea of loaning the player back for the rest of the season was mentioned as a possible option to convince Rennes to let the player go now. But since then, although talks have continued at a tentative level, nothing has been agreed at the time of writing this. Chelsea do have other centre backs on their shortlist, but they really rate Jacquet and he is the guy they want. So no other moves for any other centre backs have been made as of yet. One other option that SPTC Sources have been told about is around Mamadou Sarr and bringing him in this month. The centre back is on loan at Strasbourg, but Chelsea have been pondering bringing him back, especially if Jacquet is signed and then loaned back to Rennes until the summer. The only issue Chelsea have with doing this is that they will need to cover Sarr’s absence at Strasbourg. So there are some ideas they are looking into there as well, and one possible idea mentioned by sources is sending Aaron Anselmino to Strasbourg to cover that. mkh
Vesper 30,738
Sources: Cole Palmer's future? So, what's been happening here and what is the player thinking? https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/sources-cole-palmers-future Many of you have been asking me to write on the future of Cole Palmer from what our sources know. So now, I’ve complied a sourced report on the future of our attacking midfielder. The noise around Manchester United does have some substance to it. Palmer is a Manchester lad and has all his friends and family around there. So of course he is going to miss elements around it. There is also a personal situation that Palmer is facing that I would prefer not to speak about, that will make him more inclined to be around that area again and perhaps miss home a little bit more. He’s back and forth form Manchester to London quite a bit, or at least he has been recently. So the ‘homesick’ noise does actually have a little bit about it. On the player side, Palmer is not unhappy at Chelsea. He’s more than content being a Chelsea player. He didn’t really enjoy playing under Enzo Maresca though, as reported at the time; he didn’t feel as though he was able to play with the freedom that he had been playing with when he first arrived at Chelsea. But as a Chelsea player, Palmer has not been described to me as unhappy, he just got frustrated under Maresca and the homesick thing is certainly a thing, but for more reasons than the public know about. Palmer is also frustrated with his reoccurring injury and also, with his own form. He wants to be doing more for the team and wants to get back to where he was. So he is annoyed at himself as well, hence the body language on the pitch that fans have been noticing. Right now, I have not heard that Palmer is planning to ask to leave or is looking to leave, but as I have said, it’s not something that would surprise me if I did hear it, based on everything I’ve said above. If Palmer was to leave, I’d be less surprised to see him head to Manchester United rather than back to Manchester City. United is more where his roots are and he was a boyhood fan of the club. On Palmer’s future, a lot will depend on how the rest of this season goes for him in a Chelsea shirt, and how things go at a potential suitor such as United. But look, there’s nothing from sources at this moment to say that Palmer wants out or is going to ask to leave - so that’s the main takeaway for now at this point in the season. On the club side, of course they are not going to entertain any offers for Palmer. He is one of five players the club see as indispensable in this moment, alongside the likes of Reece James and Moises Caicedo. They are concentrating on getting the best version of Palmer back, and he is not for sale. However, IF Palmer went to them and asked to leave the club because he was unhappy, then I’d be surprised if Chelsea didn’t then entertain it. I personally do not believe they would want to keep an unhappy player in the squad, whoever that was, and nor should they to be honest - that is where problems start with disgruntled players. Not saying Palmer will become a problem if this did happen, but I’m just saying that I’d be surprised if the club kept any player who put in a transfer request. Again, I’m not saying this is what Palmer is going to do, I’m just going over the possible scenarios. And this bit here is really just my opinion as the club state not for sale. To sum it up, I’ve not heard that Palmer is unhappy right now as a Chelsea player, the club will not entertain selling him, but there is certainly an element of ‘home sickness’ but due to deeper reasons that it would not be right for me to talk on, but would be understandable to everyone if they knew what it was about. Palmer also likes to play with freedom to be able to feel confident and comfortable on the pitch - so I’m not sure whether he gets that with Liam Rosenior more or not, maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t. Time will tell. mkh

Pizy 19,123
Really wondering wtf the plan is now. All the briefs to the press were that we wanted a “top” CB this month who goes straight into the first XI. Anselmino is absolutely not that and definitely isn’t better than either of Fofana or Trev yet. Probably not better than Josh either who is already not playing as much as he should be. Bringing back Anselmino only for him to ride the bench like Josh does makes no sense to me the more I think it through. If one of our current lot were on the way out I’d get it. Special Juan 28,517
Plan is simple, fetch back Anselmino, saves money on Jacket Potato or whatever he is called, we will lose the race for him and the club will say we did everything possible to get him Bunch of spineless wankers, I mean us Liverpool or Munich who you going to choose? and us who will low ball them OneMoSalah

Okay, you don’t want to spend £55m on a kid from France midseason. But there’s a reason we wanted him so badly and that was because we wanted someone who can go straight in. Going from wanting a starter to recalling someone who may not even play makes no sense. Why not go get Senesi?

Pizy 19,123
Really wonder what goes on with Josh in training for both Maresca and now Rosenoir to not fancy him so much. He is a super talent and miles better than Badiashile and Tosin yet can’t get consistent playing time. If we’re actually thinking of selling him as a “pure profit” move I think it’ll go worse for us than Guehi did. If we are dumb enough to sell him to another big club like Bayern we will badly regret it I think.

NikkiCFC 8,491
Why so inpatient? Let's get CB in the summer doesn’t make much difference. I'm relaxed about CL qualification. Edited 1 hour ago by NikkiCFC

I’m fine with us not spending silly money on Jacquet this month for sure. But if a CB HAS to come in (which we clearly feel is the case) I’d have preferred we went and got an experienced head who instantly slots into that LCB role that Badi played today.
