Liverpool supposedly lost interest in him a couple weeks ago, I don't believe this rumour right now, unless we go out and buy someone better it doesnt make sense He will get straight into the team etc at Liverpool he will be on the bench The only doubt is that even after all the much better biz we have done, they do want to sign bledy garbanzo so I wont be surprised if they go out and bring in a prospect outside the top 10 list of options! grrr Edited August 9 by CucurellatheCat
Pizy 19,040
I see CFCPys tweeted a clip of what Maresca actually said about a new CB yesterday. Apparently he did NOT actually say we need to go out and get a new one. It was misreported by everyone last night. He was asked “do you need to bolster your defense after the Colwill injury” and he said yes most likely not knowing what the word bolster means. He probably just meant that we need to find a solution to the problem. Not necessarily through the market, though.

They're def in the market for another CB Edited August 9 by CucurellatheCat Vesper

I would prefer to sign a left footed CB hes as good with both lol I posted this in here the otherday from a summary I got from his stats pages: "Marc Guehi is right-footed, although he is known for his comfort and skill using his left foot, particularly when playing on the left side of the backline." Duppy Conqueror 1,570
Maresca has said in the past of the importance of a lefty at CB in his team for balance. I reckon this is because of when Cucu is moving around the LCB is playing on the edge of the back line. With LW/RW cutting inside on their inside foot it could be argued that lefties should play right side and righties play left side in defense but that's probably an whole debate in itself. CucurellatheCat 23
Here's chat gpt total summary of guehis feet (although i air on the side of this is all bs) Marc Guehi is a right-footed centre-back who has established himself as a key player for both Crystal Palace and the England national team, renowned for his technical ability and composure, particularly when playing on the left side of the backline despite his natural right-foot dominance. His proficiency with his left foot, developed through extensive individual drills in the Chelsea academy, allows him to execute precise passes and maintain control under pressure, making him a valuable asset in build-up play. As of August 2025, he is set to captain Crystal Palace in the upcoming Community Shield match against Liverpool on August 10, 2025 Edited August 9 by CucurellatheCat
Duppy Conqueror 1,570
I would say Guehi is by far the best option even remotely possible (unless we taken another risk on recently injury prone players like Scalvini) CucurellatheCat and Vesper

mkh 650
Nice is negotiating for David Datro Fofana, and Toulouse are also interested. Chelsea are demanding a one-off transfer. Both Nice and Toulouse are trying to find a financial solution. Nice has instead raised the idea of a loan with an option to buy. Toulouse can afford a transfer fee estimated between €4m and €5m, but are being held back by the player’s salary demands.
