I’ve learned after last summer that I shouldn’t write off an underwhelming or non-sexy signing. Palmer for £45m got a lot of “that much money for a guy who can’t even get a game for City?!” And there were also like 4-5 other attacking mids that we all preferred like Cherki for example. Then he turned out to be the best player in the league for the season.

But goddamn, it would be a crazy gamble to spend all this money on Duran.

If we signed Yaya sanogo as our starting striker would you say … eh let’s not write him off ? probably not. 99.999% of pro players would constitute underwhelming signings so writing them off saves a lot of time.
Palmer did not set the world alight at city but everyone could see he was a superior talent compared to whatever that Duran Duran chap is atm

In other news, Ten Hag stays at United. Which probably means they’ll be attacking the Olise situation full-on with that settled now.

Bad news for those of you who really want Olise probably.

Is that guy legit?

this fucking ownership group is destroying us

I am starting to wonder if it is on purpose

revenge for a Russian owner crushing the competition

I started to wonder the same when we signed fofana… them buying trash youngsters on eternal contracts for huge sums is one sadistic way to destroy a club for sure. But the motive has to be something else. When did Americans ever mind rigging a competition

People at Red Cafe are saying the reporters close to the club are saying they must make some sales before they buy anyone. On top of that Newcastle are not releasing Dan Ashworth who is to become the Sporting Director at Man United until July 1st. Even with making the decision to keep ten Hag, their house is still not in order for transfers.

True, but you can afford to be patient with a young midfielder or winger or most other positions. But when we already have a striker like Jackson who is super inconsistent with his finishing the absolute last thing we need is to add some kid who is the same.

We either need a striker who is the finished article or at least well on his way to being so.

I just want to hear what the club leaks/briefs to the reporters about Duran. What their justification is for potentially spending such a ridiculous amount of money an an unproven backup striker from Aston Villa.

Like who’s driving the signing and what they think his potential is etc. The fact that we wanted him back in January too must mean that someone in particular in our scouting department has to see some massive potential or something.

if this happens and for that price, this is a make or break transfer for Bo-Clownlake

if Duran turns out to be shit, then that is IT

they clearly need to sell as theyb have no fucking clue, at that point, how to run a football club in terms of transfers

The people driving recruitment are the co-sporting directors, have been since January last season.

The two of them need to go ASAP. This club isn’t Brighton or Monaco - they are out of their depth.

The justification is going to be that he's under 23 and data they have on him will look good. Thats been the prerogative since they came in.

I actually think Duran looks really good - but it’s a lot for a striker that hasn’t proved much.

We got Cole for 40 mil and people were crying on here. So who knows. There is a good player in Duran though.

The whole “he can’t play for Villa” thing is overblown. Villa were in a if it ain’t broke don’t fix it mode and they have their best striker they’ve had in god knows how long.

Duran could be a big thing. He’s rapid, has great shot power, presses well, and has a bit of asshole about him.
