Like I said last week, IF we sign anyone it'll be out of nowhere at the last minute.

None of the usually reliable sources (Matt Law etc) have been saying anything in relation to us which to me means Frank is telling the complete truth about nothing even being close.

We're putting all our eggs in the "hope we remain in the top 4 and go bananas in the summer" basket. Time will tell whether it's a genius strategy or if it will backfire spectacularly.

I just hope this summer window is one to remember for the right reasons. Not a case of who we nearly signed but argued to much over the price or who chose elsewhere or who messed up but who we manage to sign.

Need those little sparks again to get things going next season with less annoying games

I doubt any deal will be a loan. He'd probably get a 2 year deal or 1 year with option to extend like Giroud.

For a short term injection of quality for a season or two we could do a LOT worse.

From the article:

“PSG have already turned down one offer from Atlético and are understood to want a fee of at least £10 million to allow Cavani to leave this month.”

We paid £18m didn't we for Giroud under similar circumstances?

£10m isn't a bad deal at all. Obviously his wages would be pretty high I'd imagine but we've moved some big earners from the wage bill over the last 12 months.

I've been very vocal about not wasting money in this transfer window to give ourselves the strongest position possible to make moves in the summer but I wouldn't see a huge deal of risk in this. If he struggles, I assume we'd be able to move him on again in the summer, probably to Atletico for a few million and buy a new striker then.

But if he does well we may view the striking position with Tammy and Cavani to be fine to move into next season and allow us to focus on other needs in our squad in the summer. We can then move on a striker the following summer when hopefully we have less holes in our squad by then.

For £10m it's gamble worth taking. We've spent far more on far inferior players in the past.

Besides, how many strikers do Atletico need? They must have something between 5 and 10 strikers in their books already

dont they 'only' want 20m euros (£17m)?

that is only a million more quid than what we literally did pay for a 6 month loan with salary for the dreadful Higs, lolol

I don't know I saw a few pages back some of you were saying they want 30 millions so I figured it's true.

For 15-20 I'd take him.

well, there are different reports

and yes I see 30m euros (£25m) in some places

that is too much for a 33yo (in 24 days) with 5 months left on his contract and a HUGE salary
