Yeah, the only type of midfielder we need is a defensive minded one. Neves doesn’t make sense. 

Rice would be a transformative signing for our team as I think you can put literally any of our other midfielders next to him and it would work beautifully. Problem is, he’s basically Mr. West Ham now and they as a club are highly ambitious. It may take £150m to sign him next summer. They lose him and it not only sends a terrible message but they would also take a huge step back and likely fade into midtable obscurity again.

But we do for sure need someone with his profile. Someone who is highly mobile and solid defensively but is also extremely comfortable on the ball.

This. Kante Kova Jorgi Gallagher Rice/Tchouameni and RLC should be the midfield list next year with the expected switch to 4 at the back

we SO need to sell RLC this summer, as it will be the last chance to get a nice price for him, he turns 27 in a wee bit over a year and

in his last 12,907 minutes

(so 3.25 seasons at his normal minutes per season rate for the last 4, 5 years or so)

he has 29 goals and 60 assists

9 goals and 18 or 19 assists per full season

pretty bonkers

and he has been on some meh teams

only big downside is he turns 30yo in 10 months, 10 days
