Why do we need ake?

Christensen out Ake in makes sense.

Chris just like Rudiger and Zouma prefers RCB position. Only Tomori prefers to play on the left just like Ake who is also left footed and can play LB too. More physical defender on the right Rudi-Zouma and more technical on the left side Tomori-Ake. Makes sense.

Bournemouth losing £40m man, linked with Chelsea, would be a damning blow to Eddie Howe

https://90maat.com/bournemouth-losing-40m-man-linked-with-chelsea-would-be-a-damning-blow-to-eddie-howe-opinion/

A.F.C Bournemouth are in heaps of danger having dropped into the relegation zone after a 4-0 defeat to fellow strugglers West Ham in their last Premier League outing. But further issues could be on the horizon as the Cherries are at risk of losing their most crucial defensive asset in January. Reports have emerged in The Sun that Chelsea are considering exercising the £40m buyback clause they had placed in Nathan Ake’s contract if they can offload Andreas Christiansen.

Eddie Howe will be spending the entire month worrying that the Cherries could lose their star man should a buyer be found for Christensen. Losing Ake would be catastrophic for the side who sit in 18th place in the Premier League table in their attempts to spend a sixth consecutive season in the English top-flight. The issue is that Howe’s side have scored just two goals in their past seven Premier League fixtures and without anyone finding the back of the net regularly they are reliant on keeping a tight defence to pick up any points.

Former Bournemouth Player of the Season Ake has made 16 starts this campaign keeping three clean sheets as the Cherries have struggled to keep other sides out. But his place in the starting eleven is all but guaranteed as only Chris Mepham has made more tackles and interceptions at centre back than the Dutch international. Furthermore, Ake is essential for Howe’s style of play building from the back, with the central defender having averaged the second-most passes of any Cherries player whilst boasting the highest pass completion rate. In essence, Ake is a critical cog in stopping the opposition scoring and starting moves for the Cherries.

The sum Chelsea would have to pay is a considerable fee for Bournemouth to receive. However, the fact Chelsea have a buy-back clause means they could trigger it at any moment. Howe is likely to be concerned that the Blues could wait right until the end of the window to push the move through and all the power is in Frank Lampard’s hands. Should Bournemouth lose Ake, it would be an enormous blow to their chances of surviving in the Premier League. But if they fail to find a replacement for Ake, the Cherries will be as good as relegated.

Mertens is nowhere near Cavani level

he is pretty much done as a top rate player soon and is tiny and would get bullied in the EPL now that his pace is rapidly fading

What's up with the lack of links to a left-back?  I was hoping that since Lamps has dropped  both Alonso and Emerson this season, a left-back would be priority

complete breakdown here

unless we are the mystery team with the 30m euro bid for Rayan Aït Nouri, looks like it is Chilwell or bust in the summer as it stands, which is very risky on multiple levels

Crystal Palace want to sign Angers left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri this month

https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2020/crystal-palace-want-to-sign-angers-left-back-rayan-ait-nouri-this-month/

L’Équipe report that Premier League side Crystal Palace have decided that they want to sign 18-year-old Angers SCO left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri this month.

The player is contracted to Le SCO until 2021, who are asking for a considerable amount of money in order to sell a teenager whose interests are being managed by Jorge Mendes, believed to be in excess of €30m.

Palace have accelerated discussions in recent days, with several conversations with Angers and the player’s entourage having already taken place. The fee demand is making the conclusion of any agreement complicated for Roy Hodgson’s side at the moment.

Atletico Madrid remain in contact for the teenager, and Palace could face competition from them if they daddle much longer.

I'm thinking the exact same thing, out of everythinf we need a left back the most.

If the board and Lampard think that we'll be fine with Alonso and Emerson for the rest of the season then they are clueless.

- Lampard said he's surprised Dembele popped up so much over the last few days because he hasn't been discussing with the club about him BUT Lampard didn't explicitly rule him out when asked if Dembele is actually a target.

- Lampard reiterated the club will sign players if only the right ones are available.

- Lampard also said we are not close to signing anyone.
