Elliot for me is the one to get.

But I agree unless we can get an upgrade I'm also against selling him. Because it's dumb as heck selling him and staying with injury prone players.

So sell for silly money and if can get an upgrade.

If not the board should not sell, but knowing them they will sell and get some 18 year old from Africa....

Chelsea goalkeeper situation has been left wide open again

It's a strange one developing here

Chelsea continue to get linked with new goalkeepers for the summer. The last I heard, they have a lot of faith in Mike Penders and it has been swaying towards him coming in to at least challenge to be Chelsea’s number one this summer. But that is not yet cut and dry. There is a chance that they still decide he needs another year out on loan for his development. A final decision will be made at the end of this season.

I guess now though, it will also depend on what happens with Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, and any new names that they could look at.

Robin Roefs of Sunderland continues to be mentioned, and the club have not yet put out any briefs to say that they have no interest in him. Now when they do that, I never truly know what it means, but the fact they haven’t yet tried to squash this rumour, does make me think there could be something in it. There will be different reasons why a club will squash a rumour though.

Neither Jorgensen or Sanchez want to be a backup, they both want to be number one. So there is still a scenario that both leave the club in the summer if they are not the regular number one. And with Sanchez again looking like he has just been stripped of this title by Liam Rosenior, who at the moment appears to prefer Jorgensen to play his brand of football, it really does raise the question marks over Sanchez for this summer.

Jorgensen wanted out in January because he wants more games and has been concerned about his World Cup place in the summer. But Chelsea blocked any move because they didn’t want to have to replace a keeper in the mid-season market.

So with both Sanchez and Jorgensen, there are question marks. Chelsea are also most certainly taking a look at other keeper names as well. Then there is the situation of Penders. It’s all now very open and I have no idea how this will go down come the end of the season.

A prediction that Chelsea could change their transfer tact now

They wont...

https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/a-prediction-that-Chelsea-could-change

8ac7e6a5-329b-4e5b-a2d8-e5f5fc1fb105_331

I thought I’d take a look at these quotes today, even though I don’t think Chelsea are going to change the ways they recruit, not at all. But still, it does make some sense what is said below, so you never know.

Chelsea are being tipped to sign more players in the summer transfer market by former Everton CEO Keith Wyness this week.

Ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, says Chelsea will have to look at selling players in the summer transfer window and change their transfer strategy to adapt to their financial situation.

Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Chelsea will still buy players in the summer.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It doesn’t mean to say they’re not going to buy. I think they will.

“But they’re going to, I think, we’re going to see a flight to quality. Whereas before, they had a flight to youth. If you look at it, if you follow what I’m saying, they had a lot of development players.

“Now I think they’re going to see if their strategy has worked, and can they sell those players they bought younger? Can they sell them now at a higher price? We’ve got to see. And this is where the market’s going to test themselves. And will there be enough buyers out there?”

I think this does make some sense really. Chelsea will obviously still be needing to sell players, as every club does. But they continue to assure us all that they will not be selling any of the players they see as indispensable. Time will tell on that one of course.

I don’t think they will change their course though because they fully believe in this project and they way they are doing things. At least, Clearlake do.

Chelsea still believe in Liam Delap?

What else are they going to say!?

https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/Chelsea-still-believe-in-liam-delap

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has put something out on Liam Delap this week.

He states that Chelsea still believe in Liam Delap, and behind the scenes, they feel he’s been unlucky with injuries. The message form inside the club is that you have to back him and give him a bit more time because he’s still young.

So Kaveh has clearly gone to Chelsea and asked them about Delap. But what exactly were they going to say in response? ‘No, he’s not been good enough and we’ve given up on him’!? They are going to put out correspondence saying that they still have faith in a new striker they only signed in the summer, right? They have to.

From what I have heard, Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Delap for the rest of this season. And then in the summer, they will make a decision on him. I can actually potentially foresee a loan move for Delap at the end of the season, rather than being sold. But he is very much playing for his Chelsea future right now. He needs to well and truly step up.

Chelsea didn’t pay much to sign him so he was low risk anyway. And as I’ve also reported, we had heard that he had been struggling with the training sessions early doors. I’m not sure if it is now the same under Liam Rosenior.

Delap will want to be playing much more, so it could be a case of a loan move to go and play more being best for all parties involved. But let’s see, there’s many games left to play, and a big decision to be made come the end of the season.

I still think Delap has many good attributes, but it’s about application, confidence, and playing in a possessional-based team and getting used to that. It’s a big difference from Ipswich.

Hmm

Since the 2022/23 season, when BlueCo took over, Chelsea have a ZERO PERCENT win rate against Arsenal and Manchester City in 20 matches.

More from Feliciano

Feliciano when asked about Chelsea’s rough patch:

🗣️ “Well, we just won two trophies last year. So, kind of depends a rough patch for whom. Arsenal haven’t won in 20 years since that I have checked.”

Feliciano: “We take very seriously that Chelsea have been a top six in the Premier League, and we intend to not only stay there, but we intend to compete for trophies every year.

“We intend to win the Premier League someday soon. And I think the reality is that I think we have put in place a much more sustainable system, in terms of players, in terms of kind of development that I think is yielding results right now.”

10.23am - Disasi on Chelsea

Axel Disasi:

“If I say everything, maybe I will get into trouble, but it was tough [the first half of the season at #Chelsea]. It was very tough to be watching every single week, every single weekend the games on the TV...

“I was just working, waiting for my time - that’s why now I’m just enjoying because I know what it feels like to be in front of the TV and not on the pitch. I learned to be more patient, to stay professional, even if the circumstances were hard...”

10.11am - They intend to win the PL someday soon

Hard to believe they intend to win the PL soon when the summer incomings are looking like Penders, Quenda, Emegha and possibly a CB

Even if some of them seem to be quality youngsters, you just can't expect clinical performances over a 38-game season with such a young squad.
