Europeans giants Barcelona will do anything to sign Man City’s Erling Haaland in 2025 or 2026

https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/europeans-giants-anything-sign-man-085100273.html

Barcelona club president Joan Laporta is said to be prepared to do anything to sign Man City striker Erling Haaland next summer or in 2026.

The Catalan club have made a positive start to the 2024/25 campaign as Hansi Flick’s side sit top of La Liga three points ahead of rivals Real Madrid.

Robert Lewandowski has played a huge role in this with the Polish forward producing 10 goals and two assists across Barca’s opening nine matches. The former Bayern Munich star looks back to his best under Flick’s guidance but the legendary striker turns 37 next year ahead of his contract expiring in 2026.

Laporta will need to replace Lewandowski during one of the next two summer transfer windows and the Barcelona president has his eye on Man City’s Erling Haaland.

According to SPORT, Laporta will do anything to bring the Norwegian superstar to Spain in 2025 or 2026 as the Barcelona president will want a big name as the face of his project after Real Madrid secured the signings of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham over the previous two summers.

This would be an incredible acquisition for the Catalan outfit but they will need to get their finances in order to make it happen.

Would Man City’s Erling Haaland join Barcelona?

Haaland has said in the past that he wants to experience playing in many different leagues and La Liga is likely to be the next one.

Should Barcelona continue to grow the way they have been this season and with Real Madrid’s forward line already full of top talent, a move to Catalunya could be possible in 2026 for the Norway international.

Pep Guardiola is also expected to leave the Etihad Stadium by then, should he sign a one-year extension at the Premier League champions, which all plays into Barcelona’s hands.

This would be a major operation for Barca to pull off and a lot is uncertain, what isn’t, is that the Catalan club will become a force again in Europe should they acquire Haaland as the 24-year-old is a goalscoring machine.

Hope they want James instead.

Certainly going to have to find numerable levers there Joan.🥳

What would he cost? £200,000,000?

they have a lot of players they could sell

none of these are 100 per cent untouchable (Gavi and Pedri due to never ending injuries) and many of them would raise huge funds

Gavi
Pedri
Ronald Araujo (the least likely one of all these to be sold, IMHO)
Frenkie de Jong
Raphinha
Jules Koundé
Fermín López
Alejandro Balde
Andreas Christensen
Ferran Torres
Eric García
Ansu Fati
Marc Casadó
Héctor Fort
Iñaki Peña
Pau Víctor
Pablo Torre
Marc Bernal
Gerard Martín

If they want to make money, they aren't short of options as you listed.

So sad we didn't get him, would've dominated a few years.

His performance against us in the CL for Atletico was one to remember. The one time someone performed & we didn't end up snapping them up.

Lucas Chevalier is a superb keeper.

Amazing saves again tonight versus Monaco.

Away clean sheet.

Diogo Costa has had dodgy games most times I have watched him for Porto.

Gregor Kobel is poor with the ball at his feet.

Costa just doesn't impress me in the slightest. He had a very up-and-down performance against United (bailed out by Samu).

I just can't see us going for another GK unless two that currently on our books are permanently sold.

unless the teen Mike Penders is the real deal, we simply have to upgrade at GKer IF we want to win the league and CL, IMHO

absolutely not sold on any of the ones we have under contract (and it is a lot, when you count the ones out on loan)

atm, judging off a lot of games I have watched outside of the EPL, Chevalier is easily the best of the ones who are actually available

Costa has fallen off, which is why no teams have went for him I wager

we really fucked up not buying Mamardashvili and shitting away £88m (not counting Kepa) on various and sundry meh keepers (barring Penders becoming a monster)

I totally agree with you. I have no idea why we keep paying above market value for subpar goalkeepers.

A top CF and GK would give us a real opportunity of becoming legitimate competitors once more.

However, based on our transfer business since Roman left, it appears that nothing will change in the immediate future.

What have people made of Hermansen at Leicester? Everytime I see Leicester he looks like the reason they are still in games every time I watch their highlights.

My sample size isn't massive - and I am not advocating signing him - just interested to here what other people think, especially if they've seen more of him.

  • Chelsea asked for information on Patrick Dorgu during the summer, with the view to the Blue Group signing him for Strasbourg initially, with a future at Chelsea. However, he was considered too expensive and could now sign a new deal at Lecce, even though summer 2025 could be one to watch again in terms of movement for Dorgu.

  • Despite rumours about Reece James possibly looking to leave Chelsea for a warmer climate due to his injuries, there is no truth to the claims that he’s held any talks with Barcelona or Benfica. There is no chance for Chelsea to sell James, who is now working his way back from injury - he is fully focused on Chelsea and he remains an important part of the project at Stamford Bridge.

  • Tosin Adarabioyo is expected today in defence for Chelsea in the crucial game against Liverpool. “He’s one of the leaders,” Enzo Maresca said about him as Tosin has also not been dribbled past even once this season so far.
