Roy Keane makes bleak prediction for Chelsea summer signing Pedro Neto

https://metro.co.uk/2024/08/14/roy-keane-predicts-Chelsea-summer-signing-will-flop-this-season-21418786/

Roy Keane believes Pedro Neto will ‘add to the chaos’ at Chelsea and ultimately flop at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea completed a £54m move for the Portugal winger last week, with Neto signing a seven-year deal with the Blues until 2031.

Neto, who spent five productive years at Wolves, was presented to Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge on Sunday during a pre-season friendly against Inter Milan.

Chelsea have endured another turbulent summer, changing manager after Mauricio Pochettino agreed to leave and spending almost £200m on a number of signings.

But Keane expects injury-prone Neto to ‘add to the chaos’ in west London and believes he will endure a disappointing first season for Chelsea.

When ex-Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright suggested Neto could be one of the signings of the summer, Keane said on The Overlap with Sky Bet: ‘No! He’s always injured! F*** sake. He’s like [Luke] Shaw.

‘He’ll add to the chaos. He’s going to add to the chaos. He will run everywhere and then spend six months on the treatment table with a hamstring injury.’

Following his move to Stamford Bridge, Neto said: ‘I feel really grateful to have joined this club.

‘I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this shirt.’

Chelsea begin their 2024-25 campaign on Sunday against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

That's 192m offer there

Please tell me who's valuing Kepa and Lukaku that much. We've tried to sell them for years and no one has come forward.

the other poster is simply taking what we paid for players and claiming that is their present value, which is absolutely erroneous in terms of calculating swap value

Other than us, no one has valued them anywhere nearly as much

This:

Atletico Madrid would like to complete the sale of Portugal forward Joao Felix, 24, to Chelsea and sign the Blues’ 24-year-old England midfielder Conor Gallagher by Wednesday. (AS - in Spanish), external

And this:

Chelsea have set an asking price of £60m for any clubs interested in signing 22-year-old English winger Noni Madueke. (Athletic - subscription required), external

And this:

Paris St-Germain are set to beat Chelsea to the signing of Rennes’ France Under-23 midfielder Desire Doue. (ESPN), external

The "other poster" isn't at all. Never claimed what there value was, just simply what we paid.

'Some one of his stature'? He had one good season in his career and has dined off that since. For sure, he is an 'ok' CF in an era limit CF options, however he isn't a player that should be able to command those types of wages.

If he doesn't want to take the wage cut, stay in Naples and enjoy the money as if he comes here he is likely to quickly become a Sterling were his wages are a massive issue/disproportionate to the rest of the squad/his output.

That Napoli thing where they are threatening us to take a cheap cut on Lukaku or they will go for Neres is absolute donkey shit.

They are begging for Lukaku and so is Conte, they need shot of Osimhen and the only way for both to happen is via us.

in Simple terms, if Sterling were on 10k-a week wages he’d now likely be part of world-wide auction for his services.

He’s not tho, so good luck moving him.

Put it this way, if someone offers 50 million for Madueke late in the window, would the club decline the offer?    I doubt it.

How many credible links were there for Doue to Chelsea?    All I remember seeing was Doue to pick between Bayern and PSG with Spurs as an outside shot if he was keen on a move to England.

Someone should tell the EPL to bring forward the transfer ban against Chelsea.   We don't need another player who has zero interest/commitment.

Even Dortmund didn't want him permanently....and apparently they offered United another cheap loan deal. 😆

Good luck to Lukaku then, wonder how many goals he'll score for the reserve team this season?

On the other hand, fact that one doesn't like the player is not making the player worth 0 Euro. Lukaku, Kepa, Sterling or Mudryk are still gold for Serie A (hence all the clubs lick fingers for Lakaka), they just are not to keen to pay for them, so why would we give them away for free, just to take off some overinflated value from another rando who will probably flop in PL and massively boost a club we may meet in Europe one day (hope, lol)? That's no way to do business, club can always give players away for free like it did with Zyiech. Having 250 million worth of assets on books, despite the wages cost, surely makes some financial operations easier too.

Napoli doesn't want any 20 mil player, they are quite pressed into Lukau and want Osimhen out, yet nobody wants him. And we don't really need him, given he has trainwreck written all over him and people are now getting hyped up with Jackson and probably think Osimhen with his wages and ego will be sitting on the bench, patiently waiting for chance in Carobao or not playing will not hinder Jackson's development lol. So if even in this situation we cannot recognize position of power, then good luck. It looks like straight swap for me if we toss Casadei in.

Lukaku can be shipped out for 15 million any moment I guess, but it's not the point to sell 100 million player for 10 million and 3 more free 20+ million players as a bonus.

Not super fussed about the Gallagher/Felix deal, slight squad upgrade shipping out a non technical player who isn't suited to positional play to buy one who is, but has never really delivered on his potential.

While I am optimistic we should be getting top 4 this year, signing a top striker or CB would really help a lot on this:
