The agreement between Roma and Chelsea is now close, with Chelsea expected to take a loan fee of £8–9 million for Romelu Lukaku.

Roma is also working on Lukaku’s wages, which Chelsea will not contribute to, so he will have to take a cut to about £7 million a year.

We better under no circumstances sell or loan Maatsen after we already let Hall go. We should be giving him a LOT of minutes this season at LB just like Gusto rotating with Reece. He was amazing in the role for Burnley and can be so for us as well.

If the club got rid of him and kept Cucu I’d be 10x angrier at that than letting Hall go to Newcastle.

with only 6 days to go in the window, it will either be impossible:

(Davies and Mendes, my only 2 TRUE LB wants, plus Theo (defensive issues though) would be impossible too)

or

extraordinary hard

to bring in a great replacement

(the following only other remotely acceptable LBs who are eve remotely available, and some of these are basically impossible now as well):

(the 3 in bold are the best in terms of talent)

Federico Dimarco
Pervis Estupiñán
José Gayà

Rayan Aït-Nouri
Caio Henrique
Mathías Olivera
Joakim Maehle   (he just went to Wolfsburg, ffs)
David Raum
Borna Sosa

leaving these 2 as probably the easiest

Quilindschy Hartman
Joaquín Piquerez

and both are dice rolls

Unfortunately it is very hard to get rid of Cucu. With some players, if they've fallen in transfer value this quickly, you can write down their value on the book e.g. if they have a serious injury or some other exceptional circumstance. It is rumoured we have written down Lukaku's transfer fee massively from a FFP perspective after his interview. This is why we can 'afford' to sell him for so little now. But there is no imaginable reason to do this with Cucu, he's not had done his ACL or anything, he was just an average player bought for a crazy transfer fee.

£56m it cost us to get him (+£7m in add ons potentially but lets assume we wont pay those) on a 6 year deal (£9m+ wages per year). So, his current book value is £47m-£50m. We can already not afford to lose money on any players in fact we need to create nothing but tonnes of profit from players somehow, so to get Cucu off of the books now you need someone willing to pay ~£9m wages and a £50m transfer fee. In a years time his book value will be £37m-£40m which might be doable if he's had a good season somewhere but of course £9m in wages would rule out most clubs. Maybe Arsenal or Man Utd are the only clubs stupid enough to take him off of us.

The most realistic route out might be in 2 years time when his book value is only £28m.

Then somewhat but not fully independently there is the question of what to do with Maatsen. If he does not reach the level where he's almost guaranteed in the XI then in all likelihood we will have to sell him sooner or later, because of the way FFP works. It sucks but it is the way the system is designed and our whole spending approach relies on it - if we don't want this we had to not buy Enzo, Caicedo, Mudryk, Fofana etc. It will at some point become necessary to pocket profit for Maatsen and buy some £30m option in the market ala Gusto, unless Maatsen becomes so good that we cannot realistically replace him affordably in the market.

I don't really watch the Bundesliga much but thought Raum looked solid at the World Cup

He is really poor defensively and a weird character tho . a great crosser and provides a threat from the left side but played a horrific first season at Leipzig. Would pass on him

Roma are closing in on a full agreement with Chelsea to loan Romelu Lukaku. As revealed, Roma unwilling to pay more than Inter did when they loaned the Belgian striker, but there is optimism a compromise is close. Key to the deal is Lukaku reducing his wage.

if he wants crazy money, then he needs to go sign with the Saudis

if he refuses to reduce his wages and also refuses to go to the Saudis, then he can go play with the teenie-boppers in the reserves league

HE is the one who poisoned the well here, ripping us and slating us in interview after interview

we are the victims here (and obviously foolish as well for dumping £182m on the cunt between fees, add-ons, and salary commitments)

Don't know why people keep talking about Saudis it was reported they withdrew the offer for him a few days ago after they got Mitrovic..

At this point not even the Saudis want to tarnish their reputation further by associating with Lukaku 😂
