This guy Ronald Araujo that we’re being linked with seems to be well liked by Barca fans and he is apparently in negotiations right now to extend his contract. So that’s likely the only reason our name is being used. Seems he is future captain material there so I highly doubt they’d allow him to go.

Going to be a whole lot of this kind of thing for the next few months. Every CB under the sun will be linked with Chelsea.

I don't think he would suit Tuchel system since he isn't very good with the ball.

Unless PSG hit the crack pipe like Barca circa 2018, we've no chance of getting rid of Lukaku.

Why you think this? Lukaku here is the same Lukaku last 10 years. 3 teams already paid big money for him. We got our money back for Morata.

Araujo is alright. Still only 22. If anything his positioning is his weak point. Perfectly ok on the ball. a beast in the air.

Seems to be quite a reflex on here: Anytime we are linked with a somewhat athletic defender, there is an instant post about how poor he is on the ball lol.

Still, the move is an absolute non-starter. just click baiting by the spanish media. dont see him move when barca is his dream club

Because he is 29 now, on £350k+ a week and any idiot that didn't think he was a Donkey before we brought him, now knows it 100%.

Exactly the idea anyone will take this huge donkey off us is ridiculous

no one will take him even for free with the wages he is on

he will sit his fat contract out like winston Bogarde

worse than useless cos he is drawing the team down to his level

If we had a second forward (a Giroud type) who could rotate with Lukaku when he’s out of form like this we could get by. But it’s just our luck that Werner doesn’t score either and for some strange reason Tuchel won’t just go with Kai up top these days.

If scoring goals is your reference point, then it's hilarious that you mentioned Havertz considering he hardly went on a goalscoring spree when he had that run upfront between October and November last year.

In any case, how do you know Lukaku isn't being dropped/rotated because we don't have another forward who could rotate with him? It could simply be that Tuchel has that usual manager blind spot and insists on playing Lukaku regardless of his form, performances etc. The fact that he cost 100 million is probably what is making Tuchel play him week in week out. He didn't hesitate to drop or take off Werner, Havertz, Giroud or Abraham last season, for example, when he wasn't happy with them (maybe Werner/Havertz should try their luck and go bitch to the media and see what happens).

Also, I don't get why Tuchel feels that we have to play with a reference point, a target man figure upfront to thrive. Yes, we had success in the past with Drogba and Costa but I don't get why Tuchel is trying to go down that route again. Man City and Liverpool don't play with one for example but here we are, trying to shoehorn an ill suited striker into the XI.

I don’t even just mean playing Havertz up top so he can score more. It’s just that we look way better and more dangerous without a traditional forward.

I would MUCH rather see Havertz as the striker with Pulisic, Werner, or Ziyech alongside him and Mount just behind him.

Am sure Lukaku's price tag is playing a big part here and god knows why Tuchel seems to think that we have to play with a reference point upfront. If anything, it's disappointing that we haven't seen more of the Werner-Havertz-Mount combo that worked well on the occasions that they played together late last season.
