Would not call it a winning system. TT is here 67 games so far, CL last season was just 7. We struggle big time and results are the reason why he should change formation.

And I never expected 3atb to be long term. Last couple of weeks suggest we are in direction of change. Also Tuchels history as well.

So Sosa doing good in Germany means nothing. And now I remember another name mentioned here years ago - full back from Bundesliga. Lazaro was doing great in Hertha, Inter bought him and now he is on like 3rd loan.

We struggled a lot with results because injuries - notably to Chilwell and James - and COVID all happened at the same time. Because we didn't have our two main WBs and the alternatives were so far off, Tuchel had to try something different and reverse the slide (it wasn't that long ago that we were steamrolling teams, notably Juventus with the back 3 that had Chilwell and James). Hence the use of the back 4 in the recent games but a lot of those decent performances came against a Spurs side whose manager has kept on moaning about not being at the same level as us while the other one was a poor performance at Brighton. Am sure it was also not lost on you that Tuchel reverted to the back 3 against City in between them. So the change to the back 4 hasn't exactly been a grand success and not set in stone either. Don't know why people like to obsess over formation so much to the point where people make it and results seem mutually exclusive. Tuchel has a history of playing with the back 4 but hey ho, he unexpectedly played the back 3 the second he got the job. If anything, Tuchel has shown that he's not wedded to a single system and that he's pragmatic enough to adapt (some times to the detriment of the team).

But Chelsea have put in some groundwork to perhaps bring Dembele to the club later in the year, although it will still take at least one of the forward group to leave to make room for him.

Would not say it, it is just because James and Chilwell because league wise we are pretty much the same as last season. Our attackers are struggling big time from day one and without that changing I cannot see us move to higher level. Rudiger, James, Silva and Chilwell cannot score every game.

Back 4 will be grand success when we get Tcho and Conor back. And play attacking players on right positions.

We lost FA Cup final against inferior side

Would not win Super Cup and would already be out in Carabao Cup without Kepa and pens (we draw all these games)

Even in the league we got top4 last season but 38 points in half season is on a track to 76 full season which is nothing special really just like this season.

So like I said CL campaign aside from last season we are not really that good. And for me personally we are not playing good football with focusing on defenders to score goals.

But the change was clearly a reaction to the mounting injuries and COVID that we had. Otherwise, why didn't Tuchel play with a back 4 from day 1 this season? Whether or not Tuchel will stick with a back 4 remains to be seen. He could easily rotate between the two systems (which will present its own problems).

The attackers struggling has more to do with how Tuchel has been using them. As much as they haven't been consistent, we have seen what we can do everyone is on it with the back 3. It's a case of getting the consistency out of them and that partly comes from Tuchel's management.

So says NikkiCFC. We have tasted success and disappointment with the back 3 before. We have also tasted success and disappointment with the back 4 before. There's no foolproof system here.

It's also the same inferior side that we steamrolled back in November with the back 3.

Villarreal are hardly a rubbish side and the Super Cup was also the first competitive game of the season, on the back of the Euros. Do you expect the team to be on fire from day 1?

And we heavily rotated the XI in the Carabao Cup games...

In case you have forgotten about it, we have been scrapping for a Top 4 finish over the last few years - with a back 3 and with a back 4. So again, no system is foolproof here.

Copenhagen registered Roony, who Chelsea are still scouting and been enquiring about, as part of their European team, over their record signing and so on. He's unbelievably interesting, I think he can go all the way in a couple of years.

I wonder if the board is still waiting to see how Leonardo Spinazzola recovers from his Achilles tear

if he had not gotten injured at the Euros, we would not be having any LB conversations (and he can, as a right footer who plays an inverted LB, play RB as well)

the big downside with him (besides that huge injury) is that he turns 29yo on March 25th, so even if he somehow is fully fit by fall 2022, he will turn 30yo in his first season

he was a monster the past 2 seasons before that injury, is big (1.86m) strong and pacey, and solid on defence

[The Athletic] Chelsea’s agreed buyback clause does not kick in until 2023 for Livramento. Buyback clause is set at £50m although he would actually cost Chelsea around £38m as they are in line to receive a share of the profit from his next move.
