Werner's release clause is 25m

his salary would be far higher than Dembele's

but not 25m over 5 years total outlay higher than what a 50m+ Dembele buy plus salary would be (or at worst it would be around the same overall cost)

and we are crazy if we put all our marbles into obtaining Sancho and Chilwell both in the summer

odds are not in our favour we land both, and I can easily see losing both (especially IF Pep stays at Shitty, as Chilwell himself said he is waiting to see what Pep is doing as he wants to play under him)

a big clue will be Ake

reports are out that Lamps is balking at triggering Ake's buyback as he thinks AC will come good

we are watching (if it all goes truly pear shaped) the foundations of Lampard's downfall being laid out

the team, as it is currently configured (and with a huge question mark regarding Kante's future) is simply not good enough to keep moving forward

extraordinary amount of question marks and hopeful wishes plus a status quo satisfaction and/or over reliance on a number of problematic players

15 players plus the loanee dregs

Willy (39 next season) Zouma, AC, Azpi, Alonso, Emerson, Kante, RLC (massive injury) Barkley, Mount as THE starter at AMF, CHO (looks a shell atm of his pre-injury form), Pedro, Willian (age and contract expired in 6 months), Bats, Giroud

plus all the dregs (possibly as many as 16, 14 for sure) out on loan and not yet sold, so still on the books

Bakayoko, Moses, Donkeywater, Miazga, Zappacosta, Danilo Pantic , Baba, Kenedy, Lucas Piazón, Mario Pasalic (Atalanta are supposedly exercising his option), Musonda, Lewis Baker, Jamal Blackman, Nathan, Marco van Ginkel (not sure if he is going to be renewed or released) Izyy Brown

its is madness to have around 30 problematic (some more than others and for many disparate reasons I do grant) players under contract

Apart from that everything else is OK.

Hopefully the same statement from Crystal Palace soon, either get quality or don't get at all. I'd rather add academy players.

not counting keepers

here are most all of the 'quality' players I rate in terms of actually obtaining

many are very young, others are veterans

some I only add because of links but I do not agree that they are worth the price

most are impossible in January and all will be hard pulls even in the summer

some are still going to probably be impossible then, or too expensive due to crazy high release clauses, and names missing (like Koulibaly) are now too old to buy for the price demanded

bold (2 for each position) are who I personally would most try for

CB Milan Skriniar (doubt he would come here), Alessio Romagnoli (Mino as agent fucks us here, grrr or he would be my number 1), Ibrahima Konaté, Raphaël Varane (pipe dream but what a bloody great CB), Marquinhos, José Giménez, Caglar SöyüncüGabriel Magalhães, Rúben Dias, then next after those, Ake (I do rate him as a ball playing CB)

LB Chilwell, Gaya (100m euros RC, insane), Alex Telles, Alex Grimaldo, David Alaba (Bayern likely will sell, and summer 2021 he is too old for me to recco a buy), Theo HernandezRobin Gosens,  Alphonso Davies (Bayern will never sell him, TBH if I could snap my fingers, after Chilwell, he is my 2nd choice, he will, perhaps someday VERY soon he will be the best LB in the world, he just converted at 19yo from winger to fullback and has been a revelation), Rayan Aït Nouri

RB Achraf Hakimi, Lukas Klostermann, Ricardo Pereira, Nordi Mukiele, Timothy Castagne, Youcef Atal (depending on how he recovers from a horrific knee injury), Valentino Lazaro

DMF Thomas Partey, Eduardo Camavinga, Declan Rice, Florentino, Sandro Tonali, Sander Berge, Denis Zakaria, Bruno Guimarães, Aurélien Tchouaméni

CMF Saúl Ñíguez, Marco Verratti, Houssem Aouar, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (massive rebound year so far), Corentin Tolisso, Maximilian Eggestein (great young German, sort of Kroos-like, but more athletic and far less polished), Ryan Gravenberch, Jude Bellingham

AMF Kai Havertz (might be too expensive), James Maddison (deffo too expensive), Donny van de Beek, Dominik Szoboszlai (left footed, can play RW too I really rate him for the value), Martin Ødegaard, Dani Olmo (we have made an offer), Reinier, Mohamed Ihattaren (super youth talent, turns 18 in a month, I rate him very high, another lefty) , Isco, Jonathan David (can play at CF as well), Jack Grealish (many hate him, I think he is the real deal, he would only leave if Villa were relegated, and maybe not even then)

LW Ousmane Dembélé (only for a huge price reduction), Richarlison (too expensive though after 'EPL tax'), Ansu Fati, Milot Rashica (great young winger, Dortmund want him bad to replace Sancho, RB Leipzig as well, to replace Werner, he is tracking to 27 goals, 9 assists in 3600 minutes at Werder Bremen), Donyell Malen (can play CF as well), Krépin Diatta (potential Mane clone) Federico Chiesa, Zaha (IF 40m or less, so there is my stance on him)

RW Jadon Sancho, Nicolò Zaniolo (left-footed, plays AMF too), Mikel Oyarzabal, Hakim Ziyech, Samu Chukwueze, Leon Bailey (only for a low price), Calvin Stengs, Ferran Torres

CF Mbappe (pipe dream) Timo Werner, Lautaro Martinez, Mauro Icardi (but 99% sure PSG will exercise the option to buy him, as it is only £55m, and he is on full season minutes course to score 50 goals all comps), Paulo Dybala (probably a pipe dream), Victor Osimhen (I would like to see one more year of him, but I think he has huge potential), Luka Jovic (loan plus option to buy only), Myron Boadu (huge huge potential 19yo in 11 days 17 goals, 12 assists in 2200 minutes), Fedor Chalov (we are linked, trying to watch more, Russians worry me in terms of busts), João Pedro (now, as of January 1, 2020, at Watford after they got him from Fluminense for a ridiculously low price of £3.6m), Adam Hlozek (bonus youth, 17yo SS from Sparta Praha that all the giants are looking at, remember his name) Moussa Dembele at the end (I do not think he is worth £60m)

the only thing I am referring to is the window-specific nature

as in no January sale

what happens in the summer is far more wide open

Chelsea warned off trying to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele in January transfer window

Chelsea have been warned off a January bid for Moussa Dembele after Lyon took the unusual step of publicly reaffirming their desire to keep the striker.

It is now up to Dembele whether or not he pushes for a possible move to Chelsea this month or accepts his club’s stance.

Dembele is one of a number of forwards Chelsea have been considering to bolster head coach Frank Lampard’s attacking options.

Chelsea have tracked Dembele’s progress since he was at Celtic and French reports have linked the Blues with a cash-plus-Olivier Giroud bid for the 23 year-old.

Arsenal join January battle to sign Nathan Ake after Calum Chambers injury alters Mikel Arteta transfer plans

Arsenal are set to join the January tug-of-war for Nathan Ake that could involve as many as five Premier League clubs after Mikel Arteta admitted that the injury to Calum Chambers has changed his transfer plans.

Chambers underwent surgery on Thursday after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee in the defeat to Chelsea and Arsenal confirmed he will be out for between six to nine months.

Chelsea remain favourites to re-sign Ake thanks to an agreement that they can buy him for £40 million as part of the deal that took the defender to Bournemouth in 2017.

But Chelsea are facing the growing threat of competition for Ake if they do not complete the signing early in this month’s transfer window.

Arsenal have placed Ake high on their list of potential replacements for Chambers, along with Red Bull Leipzig’s Dayot Upamenco, while Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Everton are also monitoring his situation.

Our interest in Moussa Dembele is legit. It means Lamps is trying to sign a decent rotation option for 35m before spending in the summer. Not a bad idea because good players are available, have release clauses in the summer. But is there no one better than Dembele available?

Unfortunately he might be right, Lyon released the same statement a few days before Lacazette and Mendy left for Arsenal and Madrid. Hopefully they don't bulge from what they say because he is bang average.

This means Ousmane is leaving Barca. If we don't get Sancho or Olmo, Dembele should be on our list, worth the risk.

depends on the price though

Manure know they have a ticking time-bomb on their hands with Pogba

he not only needs surgery again, and his contract ends in 18 months

BUT the twat Mino Raiola is blasting the team publicly and promising disruption

and STILL

Manure come out with a take it or leave it price

of £150m!

Barca may try the same shit with Dembele

Pretty sure he will be loaned out with an option to buy like Coutinho and James.

if his strike price for the option is fair

I am interested

he has insane upside

the problem is he has massive risk as well, especially if we are talking £80m or more (likely more)

other than those 18 months

he has been pedestrian at best

It's strange to think that Germany have produced lots of talented, technical attacking players over the last decade but none of them scream consistency or have been consistent. Draxler, Gotze, Brandt and even Reus to name a few. It's almost as if the mental side of the game has been forgoed.

Did you not say the other day that you thought these buy back clauses were a guarantee that he would re-join and there is nothing that club or player can do about it?

I disputed that and Matt Law seems to agree with this notion as he's suggested due to our buy back clause that Bournemouth would likely have to accept offers only slightly higher than this from other clubs too, i.e. giving Ake a choice of clubs and not just guaranteeing he comes back to us.

I'm sure first refusals, etc all work in the same way. You can't force a player to move if they don't want to.

No, Ake is a straight buy back clause, not a first refusal. Bournemouth has to accept. The player has no choice in the matter. It expires before the summer window. I do not know why you continue to argue about a straight buyback clause (first refusal is more nebulous) when I already proved I was correct. It is becoming pedantic.

It's going to be the likes of Ake, Zaha, Olmo and Dembele and not Werner, Sancho etc

It might not be any of those, at least until summer. I have posted on each before.

1. Unless he is bullshitting (quite likely??) Lamps is hesitant to buyback Ake and he thinks AC can come good. (Stupid move IMHO, as Ake can play LB as well, at least better than wrong-footed Azpi)

2. Lamps just said he has had no real interest in Zaha. (I like this)

3. Olmo prefers to go back to Barca. (Big potential miss, but not a true 'gutted feeling' atm.) I am more gutted fucking Juve snapped up Dejan Kulusevski. There are still two of my 3 young, left-footed big pacey RW/AMF hybrids left, Dominik Szoboszlai of RB Salzburg and Nicolò Zaniolo of Roma. I woukd buy them both if we miss on Olmo and Sancho as they both play 2 positions. Most of my targets I push get purchased by big big clubs and most (obviously not all, I am not infallible) perform well, so I at least have that affirmation. Shame it is almost never us who do the buying.

4. Lyon said no sale in January for Dembele via an official club statement (very rare event)

Werner and/or Sancho in January still are slightly possible, if not likely. That assumes (there is confusion still) that Werner's release clause is now in effect and not for summer 2020 only.
