His fall from grace this year has been one of the main reasons we are where we are. He isn't alone though, and you are right Oscar needs to be out.

The fact he was used again when Guus came in says a lot....we fell short in this area because of two things....Matic been completely rubbish and our penny pinching last summer.

He wouldn't get in any other team above us.

Simply needs to be shipped in the summer, decent player but just so slow and has an unhealthy habit of not tracking runs. We need more strength, pace and legs in the middle of the park, he's the complete opposite.

For all of Fabregas' faults and he has many, especially defensively, he still adds something to this team. I really cant say the same about Mikel.

The same can be said of mikel adding to the team defensively while having hopelessly glaring attacking deficiencies.

My point being, IF you copy and paste everything that you wrote in your first post and post it in the cesc thread, you would be hitting the nail on the head.

Dont get me wrong, I am not supporting Mikel here, just that the same reasons that people want mikel to be sold should be applied to others too. Mikel, cesc, pedro,oscar - to name a few.

after the game he had against city I'd expect people to be more upset, but I guess mikeI is just accepted for who he is.

btw, not a big fan of Fabregas either, but he belongs to a higher tier.

Fab and Mikel are similar in terms of mobility, you simply cannot have two such players in the same line-up. You then add Oscar to the equasion, who is completely average, and it's a no-brainer why we suck ass so much in the middle of the park. Last season we had Matic to hold things together. We are severely lacking an Essien in there, this will definitely be fixed next season and I don't believe Mikel will play another full 90 for the club again.

Yeah ffs lets hope alot of the backroom staff go to specsavers this summer,as 1 man and his dog spot could see its a big weakness(plus afew others) the last few seasons at Cfc.

What I noticed about yesterday's game after recalling which players played (I could only see the 2nd half), I had to conclude that our Mikel Obi played CB. Mikel at CB. Football has peaked.

 

But honestly, that is not even a bad idea. His offensive contribution is minimal anyway whilst his built is perfect for CB. Also he is as composed as anyone and a decent passer. That being said I wonder whether Gus did not simply play Miazga.
