What did he do right?Yaya completely dominated that midfield.

Well when he was still on, the team was obviously instructed not to press and to sit deep. He had a similar performance to the rest of midfield in the time he was on the field which was below average because we were giving City all the possession. But I don't remember him doing any big mistakes..

Mikel needs to go, he's utterly useless. @Kojo has been saying this forever, and even though, we all know he's absolutely spot on, he gets nothing but improbable contempt.

But again there'd still be some incredible human beings here, charged with the fucking statistics and nerdy charts to show how fucking good Mikel's passing percentage is, Dayuuum if passing back to the keeper would win you trophies, we would have won it all by now -__-

oh and we don't know what his role is? I reckon, his role is to fucking defend, right? oi, well we fucking conceded two goals while he was on the pitch and scored one when he got off. #GETITRIGHT

In a nutshell, He's not even good enough to be part of a pub team's bench, so just fucking ship him back to Nigeria -__- #5realz

City are one of the few teams who actually target Mikel. They press him and try to work passes around him because they know he's very slow and doesn't turn quickly.

Today was just another example of Mikel not being athletic enough and being poor defensively.

A Passenger. That's how I summed up his game. An absolute passenger.

Maybe we were told to sit deep, sure, but that doesn't give Mikel licence to jog around aimlessly and, more often than not, practically stand fucking still. He didn't even stand were he was fucking supposed to, he was actually, most of the time, too far forward! Mikel, forward! I know, it sounds weird! He actually looked like he was there for the lulz, expecting everyone else to do his job. Maybe I'm too harsh...maybe he just thought we still had Didier...

Once pressure is put on Mikel, he can't cope and turns to absolute shit. City were very quick with their passing and it took him totally out of the game. I mean, completely and utterly out of the game. Sure, he was great last season, great in Munich, but it's a completely different team now. The whole team doesn't sit next to him anymore, behind the ball, defending as one massive unit. This season, he has a lot more responsibility against the top sides and that is where he has been found out. Pass it quick and well against us, which top teams will do, and he is a pointless player to have in the squad. I honestly believe that, and that is why I see him as no more than a squad player.

This is what I meant whenever I say I believe there are DMs in the world who can do what he can do, except they can also run and/or pass. Take Ramires for example; sure, he doesn't have great positional sense or passing, but at least he can fucking run. At least he got at the City players, in so far as he could. At least we can see his passion, his effort and that he gives a shit.

But Mikel? Well, he can't run. Nor can he pass or dictate the tempo of a game. And, apparently, he can't even position himself at times. So let me ask, against the top teams, what fucking use is he?!

We must field 11 players.

Oh now you've done it, You've put Ramires into your arguement, here comes The Skipper to tell you that Ramires and Mikel are different players.

Shocking by him really disappointed had a point to prove didnt

Believe it or not I used to really like Mikel, like he was always one of the ones I would defend, but last season he just proved to me that he's not ready at all.

Yeah sure I maybe I am harsh, that's just me, I am the bigget exaggarator on this forum. But he's not ready, and if he's going to be ready then it's certainly not now. Mikel in some sense does have some abillity in his locker, as I've always described him "good on the ball, bad off the ball". He is very good at keeping the ball, not many are as good as that for his weight, he rarely gets the ball took off him.

But it's clear this season has been possibly his worst. He's been off form so many times, even his passing which has been a strong point for Mikel throughout his whole Chelsea career and It's just been shambolic this season, yeah once again i exaggerate but still you get what I'm saying, 'I aint happy'. My point is, and I've been making this point since november last season is that he's not ready, and will he ever be ready? I don't think so. But It's clear we have to get a new midfielder, yeah sure keep him in the team, but we need new midfielders we can't just keep holding onto him when he's playing bad.
