Dan Lee 47
I think players don't need to justify the money they cost. Whoever recruited them should answer that question. To be fair, it is not his fault on his price tag. Who paid the bills should answer the question. When you go to buy players, you should have in mind what you want to do with them. He didn’t have a 52m release clause for nothing so to not expect more from him and question him taking that price tag into consideration would be wrong. I mean look at Lukaku who is getting the exact same based on his price tag. Which is mentioned every game/week and rightfully so based on his performances. I am a well-known friction writer. People appreciated my skills. A company hires me and pays me a big buck. They told me to write non-friction stories. Nobody likes my new stories. Is it on me? We have to ask ourselves about Tammy, Giroud, and many more, etc. Why in different systems, they can be successful but not in Blue? If only Lukaku, we may blame him. We can see that it is not only Lukaku. Strikers are struggling here and if they go somewhere else, they can do better. What I mean is that when we buy a player, we should consider whether he can perform in the current system or will we change our system for him. Managers get paid a big buck to make decisions. They should share the same responsibilities.

There is a argument about our recruitment of attacking players but this isn't one. Lukaku was clearly a poor/limited player who would never work here. I and a number of people predicted this before he came. I also said I'd rather Giroud/Tammy to him. All fell on deaf ears. As for Tammy/Giroud. I wouldn't say they were failure's here. What we needed was an upgrade but instead we downgraded because someone/people at the club don't know how to evaluate players properly. MoroccanBlue 5,380
Final straw for me. Needs to leave this summer. There was a moment during the game where Kante was running with the ball and missed an opportunity to play Werner through. Graeme Le Saux then said, "Why didn't Kante play Werner earlier, he was clean through?" 5 minutes later, Kante played a ball over the top to Werner who was clean at goal and onside, miss controlled it with no one around him, and went out for a goal kick. I genuinely, genuinely wished Arlo White replied to Graeme by saying, "Perhaps that's why." Offers nothing now.
Vesper 30,161
Tuchel handed brutal Romelu Lukaku Chelsea repeat as £33m call made easy for next owner Thomas Tuchel suffered an unfortunate repeat of Romelu Lukaku's historically poor Crystal Palace display in Chelsea's disastrous defeat to Brentford https://www.football.london/Chelsea-fc/transfer-news/romelu-lukaku-tuchel-Chelsea-owner-23583137 The writing has been on the wall for Timo Werner at Stamford Bridge for some time now. With only one Premier League goal to his name this season and a flurry of sub-par displays, the forward seems destined for a summer exit. On Saturday in the dismal defeat to Brentford, Werner hit a new low. For the majority of his Chelsea career so far Werner has been widely supported by the Stamford Bridge crowd even if things have not been going well for him. But on Saturday any patience left for the nearly £50m man signed from RB Leipzig in 2020 firmly ran out. Statistically, it could not have been more damning for Werner. Given only his third Premier League start since December 11th, the striker completed zero successful dribbles, created no chances, had no shots on target, no accurate crosses, zero ground duels won and lost possession 11 times. This ranked similar to Romelu Lukaku's historically unimpactful display at Selhurst Park back in February, where the Belgian only touched the ball seven times, the first time that has happened in the Premier League for an outfield player since Opta began recording data. This however felt reflective of Werner's deteriorating displays in a Chelsea shirt. With technical limitations and a lack of space to make the runs he did in the Bundesliga, defences have been able to nullify Werner pretty easily since he arrived in England. Reports emerged during the international break from the German outlet Sport1 that Werner wants to leave Chelsea and if the club were to receive an offer of around £33m, a deal could be done to give the struggling striker his wish. The decision for whoever takes over Chelsea should be simple when it comes to Werner's future. He has failed to deliver what was expected of him and his lack of consistent game time when others are fit indicates that he has greatly fallen down the pecking order. Werner was replaced with the maligned Lukaku in Saturday's second half, neither has scored a league goal in 2022 so far, Lukaku's last coming against Brighton on December 29, Werner's against Southampton back in October. bigbluewillie

Superblue 6,372
It's not a coincidence that Tuchel reverting back to the Mount, Werner, Havertz trio these last 2 games has made us in general look a more fluid unit both in attack and with our pressing. We'll have to see where we're at in the summer but at least for now this should be our first choice attack through to the end of the season. Werner I think deserves the chances to resurrect his Chelsea career and make sure we're not giving up on him too early because that ability and willingness to make those runs in behind a defence is something the rest of our squad doesn't really offer enough of. We have to find a way to move Lukaku on in the summer, I think that's a given as he's a square peg in a round hole for Tuchel. Then anyone else in attack really depends on what we're looking to do in the summer and how big a priority a new attacker is. I wouldn't mind us taking a punt on Dembele if we can still get him on a free transfer, but someone needs to make way as a result. It's probably going to end up a toss up between Ziyech, Pulisic and Werner - all offer very different things but are all very inconsistent at times too. We have Gallagher coming back. As for Pulisic I would still keep him, and if Werner wants to continue with us then okay. But with Gallagher coming back one will leave....but then again Gallagher is mid, so he will be taking Saul spot.

Disagree on him getting the chance to resurrect his career here. Sell him in the summer. Has played 83 games now across 2 seasons only scoring 22 goals which ultimately for someone who was renowned for being a goalscorer is unacceptable. He has missed something like 15 easy chances across 2 seasons now too. If he stays and again doesn’t produce we risk losing out another 10m on his potential resale price probably. He is too inconsistent and also mentally seems not fully up to it. Maybe that’s harsh on his mentality but was he not blabbing to the media about how its easier to play for the German NT? Absolute nonsense to suggest we should keep him. Even at his best, he isn't cut out for this league.

Werner has a future here and shouldn't go, not at least until worse players than him anyways. Lukaku and Ziyech should be the first to go and only after looking at Timo. Completely different. Werner's game isn't suited for this league. There is some things you can coach and some you cannot. I don't expect any manager to come in and improve Werner's technical ability in tight areas. This is something you develop as a child, not in the prime of your career. Ziyech wins us points against mid table/bottom half clubs. Not to mention he has a element in his game that can be useful against low blocks. There is genuinely no point in Werner unless we play Southampton 38 times a season.
