First Grimaldo now him... But tbh Benfica has always been selling club. Release clause don't mean much imo. I'm sure they would sell him for 60m, Grimaldo for around 40m... Just like Valencia would sell Gaya for around 50m.

not a chance any of those go that cheap

they have turned down big offers already

btw Grimaldo's RC stayed the same (60m euros) (£51m)

I would bite Valencia's hand off for Gaya at only 51m quid

there are only 4 good LB's in the world who are remotely available (unless we cut some crazy deal with Juve for Alex Sandro to come in the summer, AND IF we did that we are only going to get 2 MAYBE 3 years MAX out of him, as he turns 30 in middle of next season)

the ONLY 4 real quality LB's out there

are

Gaya (and I SO doubt they will take less than 80m quid for him, he is the Spanish starting LB and a top 2 in the world now that Alaba has switched to CB (LUCKY fucking Bayern cunts have the next Alaba in converted winger 19yo Alphonso Davies, he was been a revelation there for them as Alaba went to CB, 5 goals and 4 assists already for club and country this season, he SHUT DOWN Sancho and Hakimi in der Klassiker)

Chilwell

Alex Telles

Alex  Grimaldo

that's it

there are no others worth buying who are remotely available atm to be our starter, I wish I were joking (maybe someone pops up on the radar this season, like Davies did for Bayern, I am watching Aarón Martín from Mainz, as Malang Sarr apparently is struggling with LB at Nice, I need to see more of him and also watching 18yo Rayan Aït Nouri of Angers, but he is only a potential, NOT a finished product at all )

we need to watch 21yo 1.90m Englishman  Lloyd Kelly on Bournemouth too

fucking Davies looks like he is going to eventually be a goddamn big big baller, GRRRRRR

wish to fuck (with our crazy good academy) we could produce a LB (I am NOT sold on Maatsen at all atm)

When I opened this thread I really thought we could get him. Now after just one season in City he may be POTY. Amazing last night!

Proper defender.

I think he loves defending more than dancing around with the ball as if he’s a midfielder which so many CBs seem to do now.

Yeah top defender.

Right now a good defender that can be bought at the right price is Jules Kounde. Plays for Sevilla, is 22 and from France.  According to marketvalue his price is 54 million....

Said it before. Kounde would be a terrible idea . He would get eaten alive in premier legue. We are already a short side. We can’t play another shortie in the one position we have tall players for.

So then make him a DM to eventually take the spot of Kante.

I think he can play that role as well.

He's won 90% of his areal duels and has one of the highest verticals in Europe.

In La Liga tho. It's not just about how tall you are. Your vertical is only good use when you actually have the time to get up. a lot of aerial challenges are won by just a quick hop or leaning into the opponent. This guy is so small compared to the regular PL CB he would just get pushed aside. Can you see him win an aerial duel vs Dunk, Maguire or Mings?

He'd ideally be replacing Dave. (who are the same height). And we haven't had a problem all season with regards to set pieces.

maybe. but apparently we are about to replace azpi with Christensen anyway.

Also the Azpi comparison has no legs. We signed Azpi as a RB first and foremost, we then figured out that he can also play as a rCB in a back 3 but he was not originally bought for this. If we would buy a new CB he would ideally fit into both back 3 and back 4, so we should look at what the player offers overall and not what he offers about the player he is maybe half replacing. Also there were issues with azpi's height in cb during Conte's time here.

Still, we can afford pretty much any CB on the market. If we are about to buy a CB out of all the good CBs available why would we pick the tiny one? It does not make any sense.

What's this got to do with us having zero issues of defending set pieces this season?

And if I recall correctly, Dave only got beaten once by Deli Alli in 2017 and that was due to a worldie of a pass from Erikson.

He lost several aerial duels vs alli that game tho

Also how can you say zero issues when the last goal we conceded was from a set piece were azpi was bullied in the air?

Marquinhos beat Ruben Dias for his goal against City. It happens. Should City address this issue because he was beaten ONE time?

What other times this season was Dave beaten in the air? If this is such a liability as you are making out to be, why aren't other clubs specifically targeting him?
