Christian Pulisic

Tuchel said he didn't start Pulisic yesterday because "he's very strong from the bench" and also because Werner and Havertz are a good pairing upfront with good understanding with one another. Don't think Pulisic would enjoy basically being called a super sub but next season will be(?) important for him because he would only have 2 years left on his contract come next summer.

In any case, he's the first American to play in the Champions League and win it, unsurprisingly. Good thing he did it before McKennie does with Juventus or Dest with Barcelona.

Can see he and Werner being rotated depending on games. Pulisic better against low blocks.

Having read this and your other post in the Tuchel thread, I'd say there's a lot of assumption going on.

Last season Pulisic was able to provide amazing performances, but not so after his injury.

For me pulisic and Werner are somewhat similar, but Werner has a lot more power. He does not go to the ground that easily and can work in tighter spaces. Actually think Werner is better against low blocks because of that. One way Pulisic can give himself a chance is by scoring, like he did last season.

Against high defense lines, playing both would work just fine, like we did against RM.

ahead I consider untouchable only Havertz and Mount, all the others with the right offers the others  can go!
CHO will need a season out, while ziyech, werner, abraham, pulisic and giroud are all salable. put out 2-3 of them and take in 1-2 like sancho or a striker
Pulisic for me is no more than a sub, now he could have some opportunity to play cos the other players in his role are weak how he is.
For exemple: sell ziyech, giroud and abraham. CHO out on loan. take: sancho and another.
team: mount, havertz, pulisic, sancho, werner and the second purchase ( 6 total)

Save your FM save and close the game down...

No way we sell Werner or Ziyech after 1 season (they will surely have next season to make an improvement which if they dont then they will be up for the chop I would think) or even consider selling CHO and Christian either I wouldn’t think.

Abraham will maybe be sold and Girouds contract is up, is it not?

One would hope not but you say that when we still have the likes of Jorginho, Rudiger, Alonso etc after all these years despite their flaws, the criticism among other things.

Operating in tight spaces is something I expect Werner to get better at. It's something that Nagelsmann worked on last season at Leipzig (see quote below) and I imagine Werner and Tuchel will aim to do the same.

Nagelsmann: "Yeah, it’s part of the reason why we’ve started him a bit deeper, we don’t want him right on the last line, because he needs a bit of a head start, a bit of tempo, in order to really show his pace on the pitch. When he’s on the last line, he often finds himself static when he needs to get going, but with a bit of room in front of him, he can hit top speed. And from this deeper position, he’s much more involved in our build-up play and combinations. In the last few years all his moments have come in transition, whereas now he has his moments in combination play too. He’s having many more touches of the ball than in previous years, and this new position has done his development good, playing in between the lines against teams who sit deep. That’s another trait he’ll need if he wants to be one of the best in Europe. There are a lot of teams who sit deep and defend deep against you, and he needs that second way of being dangerous to opponents too, and he’s definitely developed that this year."

Lets be honest, the criticism of players like  Jorginho and Rudiger has been severely over the top 75% of the time. They've played bad games, for sure, like everyone else, but probably looking back at their spells here the majority of their games they have done well enough in or at least better than how some people seem to think about them.

Even Jorginho’s first season, the fans booing him v Malmo because he was a Sarri signing is one of the most embarrassing things I have ever felt as a Chelsea fan. The witch hunt for him has still been on this season at times and I am beginning to wonder if there is a large percentage of our fans on social media/places like these who are a bit ungrateful or spoiled perhaps because of players we’ve had before. He's not world class by any stretch but I think the lack of respect/appreciation for him is quite frankly unnerving at times and its obvious that he is one of those players that people will point the finger at him near enough every time without a hesitation.

Alonso maybe he has shown he isn’t at the required level to be a mainstay at a top side but hes never let us down when hes played this season either. He probably will be off this summer though, well him or Emerson but ultimately I don’t think he’s been the worst LB/LWB we have had for years. He's probably a more superior player to the likes of Baba Rahmann, Emerson, Yuri Zhirkov and Ryan Bertrand who have tried to replace Ashley/compete with Ashley at the time. He’s not had an amazing career here but his first season he was pretty good and whilst he has glaring weaknesses again I think its sometimes too easy to just point a finger at one guy instead of 11 or 12.

The point is, they have their flaws as players, just like those players you mentioned previously and yet, they have been here for years.

fair enough. Point remains that Pulisic aint better at that. While he may not have the same deficiency, he has others. Pulisic lack of power makes him an easier target against low blocks imo.

It's a shame he did not score that 2-0. Would have been such a nice scoreline reflecting our superiority and the whole US would have gone even crazier. Captain America shirts are already among the best selling ones. We have climbed to 3rd place in international kit sales since we bought the little guy. I don't think he has improved too much under TT if at all but our focus was on defense this season, so much is clear. Puli has two qualities i value above most in a winger which are pace and intelligence. I dont doubt he has a big role to play for us next season.
