This is where I don't think that the wages Law is reporting are correct.

I can't see him being on higher wages than everyone on this list, except Hazard

I can. I think Kante and Hazard will get raises and no one else deserves to be on big money. I can imagine someone like Fekir would break 200k.

Kante and Hazard are going to get huge raises.  This would still make Kepa the 3rd highest paid player at the club.  Which I can't see.

Maybe he got himself a great deal (good for him).  But, I'm going to remain sceptical.

Think this is the first time since 1997 when we signed De Goey that we have brought in a keeper to be #1 immediately.

Cudicini was initially backup, Cech was signed in advance and no one really knew the plan regarding him right up to the teamsheet vs United coming out and Courtois went on loan for 3 years.

I don't think Matt Law would put his neck on the chopping block like that. He's probably overpaid but he also signed him to longer term so he's lost two renegotiation years.

That's a possibility. Maybe he'll be underpaid in 4 years time.

Matt Law was one of the only people saying that Kovacic had an option to purchase in the loan deal.  Might not be on his A-game today.

A lot of people said it. He was likely guessing but there is no doubt when the club have a statement to make, he's the guy.

When Kepa's family moving to London, We want his whole family here including his grandma.

From what Ive read hes no children and been with his girlfriend since 2014

Apparently ZZ rues the day he didn't sign him but said at the time he did't want to bring in a player mid season to mess up the dressing room.

And every report Ive read say he is really strong with the ball at his feet and epitomizes the modern day keeper.

Glad to see we went in strong with the 7 year contract.

Seven years because of amortisation, to spread the transfer fee over the contract. 70/7 = 10m per season on the books.

True. It's just a bit of a shock to see the seven-year contract. Don't think we've offered anyone more than the standard five years.

This world cup has made the transfer window keepers market 🤣 clubs paying crazy money for GKs . Sad that we didn't fill the one position which is very important - striker. I can't see how we are going to score goals with Morata?? I would be happy if we were starting with OG or bats.

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-record-transfer-kepa-arrizabalaga-wants-to-go-down-in-history-as-clubs-greatest-goalkeeper-a3907216.html

"I'd like to be remembered at this club when I leave years down the line as a goalkeeper that has helped the club win a lot of titles and gone down in history in that way.

"All clubs need to fight to win titles and all players want is to win. So what I would like is to win more titles for the club. This is what I aspire to do.

"On a personal level I'd like to be remembered as someone who got on with everyone. A likeable person who people enjoyed having around.

"I just want to let the fans know that I am looking forward and am excited to start playing for the club. I have come prepared to work really hard. We have a very exciting season ahead of us so let's go for it and see what we can achieve together."

He added on Chelsea TV: "I know all the Spanish players that I have played with in the various age groups for Spain. I spoke to various players before I came here: Cesar Azpilicueta, Alvaro Morata, Pedro.

"I had excellent references from them about the club. It has been a great support for me over the last few days.

"It has been a very important decision for me, a tough decision for me for my personal life.

"What attracted me to Chelsea? Everything. All the titles the club has won. All the players at the club, the city, the Premier League. It is an accumulation of things really and I'm delighted the club has signed me.

"Of course there are many great players here like N'Golo Kante, Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud. It is a squad full of fantastic players."

"I am really looking forward to working with Sarri and having my first training session," he said. "I have heard great things about him, great references. I can't wait to see that first hand, to meet him and work with him.

"I think his style is not too different from the one used in the Spanish national team or in many national teams. I believe my qualities will fit in well with his style.

"I personally like his style, the way he thinks, the way he wants his team to play. It's aggressive, he likes to attack and put pressure on the opposition.

"I'd say I'm a calm, settled keeper. I think I try to convey a calmness to the team. It is really important that the team feel they have behind them a keeper that is feeling in control."
