If the club aren't sold on anyone currently on the market that would command big money, then Reina would be a good short term, low risk buy to give us a year, maybe two to get the right longer term keeper in.

He knows and understands Sarri's system. Looking at Jorginho today that seems to be a big plus. He also has Prem experience.

Reina is gonna be 36 in August and he has already been error prone 10 years ago at his peak. We do not need another ageing, error prone reserve goalie. only makes sense if Caballero leaves and even then it would make more sense to sign a homegrown reserve goalkeeper.

Thankfully, not a single reputable, reliable source has said anything about this. Even our board ain't dumb enough to buy a keeper who moved for free just weeks ago. One who is also 36 or whatever he is and way, way past his best.

In an ideal world we find a suitable long term replacement now or Courtois happily see's out his final year, but failing that a stop gap like Reina is the next best thing and certainly preferable to commiting to an unsuitable long term buy like Butland or Donnaruma.

Ederson and Allison emerged respectively in the last two season's has to be noted.
