Aesthetic Relic 301
1. "Dont roll your eyes at me sunshine" Why what are you going to do ? 2. "Maybe when you grow and realise that the world doesnt revolve around football you'll understand where I'm coming from" Please quote me when i said the world revolves around football. 3."Your opinion on a glory hunter changes season to season. Make your mind up and stick to it" Again quote me ! 1. Stick an apple in your mouth and spit roast you...... 2. Figure of speech 3. Hold on while I trawl through several seasons of posts to find an exact quote
Shane 2,275
I'll be honest and I only started having an intrest in Football about 6 years ago. It was accutally a week before my birthday and alot of my mates supported football teams, I consulted my older brother who is a Man United fan and asked him who I should support, He suggested Chelsea as they will be good next season as RA just took over and were linked with many players. From that day I supported Chelsea and couldn't give a shit if i'm called a gloryhunter, because a gloryhunter would have left when we went 3 years without winning the league. They may not need to, but if they want to share why they started supporting Chelsea, why not?
warnie_666 1,081
I dont mind, but it seems like fans out here are trying to prove they are not glory hunters. And I feel no one needs to prove anything, we all know that everyone out here are genuine fans, a fake fan wont make an effort to search for Chelsea Forum and post in it.... Its just that this thread is wrong. May be we can have a thread where everyone shares how and why and when they started supporting Chelsea. Ray. 217
TBH, I don't care if people think of me as a Glory Hunter. I decided to become a Chelsea Supporter after the FA Cup this year, and have supported the team ever since, OK I haven't been to many away games yet. Fulham has been my first Away Game and Aston Villa will be my second next week and possibly more and maybe even a Euro Away game at some point, other than that I've been to every home game so far and will definitely be continuing going to home games and will be looking into getting a Season Ticket next year. I know there are many people who can't afford to go to games, I don't think that makes you any the less a fan than someone like myself who tries to go to as many games as he can. You just go with you heart and enjoy it whether it's going to a match, watching it in a pub, at home, or on the internet. I'm certainly enjoying it so much and would never question someone elses support. The way I see it is we are like one big family which is growing all the time and we should support one another. Elliott 7
At the end of the day, I don't give a shit who someone supports, as long as they stick by that team for life.I agree with that sentiment.I'm pretty sick of people saying that those who support big clubs are automatically glory hunters. These days, there are several ways you're going to get into a football club1 - taken along by your dad etc2 - going with your mates in your teens as something to do3 - seeing a team on tvWith options 1 and 2, the club is ingrained into you early on, and it also means it'll likely be your local club, who may or may not be a good side. Well, with option 1, it is also somewhat likely its not your local team, as was the case with me.With option 3, its likely to be a top side, for two reasons. a) the top sides are most commonly on TV and you're not gonna root for the shit team are you? It's not human nature I don't think, not usually anyway. If you're lucky enough to have a football supporting dad, then option 1 is where you get your team. If you're lucky enough to live near the ground of a football team, then option 2 is where you may get your team. If not, then, what you're left with option 3. And as Alex said, as long as you then stick with that team, I see no problem with it.

The best piece of advice that i've had is from Mark Worrall who said the following to me from a personal email that I had with Mark For me supporting Chelsea isn’t so much about the football (CFC were dreadful when I started following them properly) but more about the shared experience and the glorious unpredictability that comes with the territory of being a football fan.One final thing, dont let anyone tease you about being a JCL (Johnny Come Lately) the club has to grow its fan base somehow, and its my considered opinion that every new supporter that chooses CFC is one less fan for the likes of Rottenham Dropspur or Do You Come From Manchester United. He also gave me lots of advice as for reading and have taken a lot of inspiration and met him briefly at the Tottenham game Edited October 10, 2009 by Blueray
.Cee 50
I dont think anyone needs to give an explanation when and why they supported Chelsea. That's because some people feel insecure about why they support Chelsea so they feel they need to justify themselves. And I agree nobody actually needs to give an explanation as long as they stick by for life. Edited October 10, 2009 by .Citraningsih

middleoftheshed 388
We are obviosly going to gain new fans everytime we are successful and it's not a new thing, speak to some of the older guys at the Bridge today and see how many of them first followed Chelsea after the 1970 cup final. Just like new fans today they probably started going with their mates and fell in love with the club through the experiences they had and were hooked for life, as soon as the final whistle went at my first match I knew I'd have a season ticket one day. People who know what football is all about will never stray because even if were playing in league 1 in 10 years time it will still be the same Chelsea. flamiejamie 0
Manchester City probably gained about a hundred thousand fans worldwide since they were bought a year ago and have brought in some mega stars. In fact, probably more than 100,000 worldwide. What can we do about it? Nothing! It's easy for fans who are not dedicated to jump ship and change teams. Once you've found a team, and have cheered for them wholeheartedly, if you change teams you are a gloryhunter. You are also pathetic. Jessman 9
I was born in Fulham, my father was a Chelsea supporter, as was my Mother and all of her family, they actually met at a Chelsea game. But on topic, When I see or hear people calling me a glory seeker I just tell them to fuck off, I dont need to explain why I chose Chelsea to anyone, it's a life choice that can be made up of many memories, may it be going to a game, watching them on TV, or whatever, as long as you are passionate about them, and know in your heart that you are proud to be a part of such an incredible team and get right into it, you dont need to explain shit to anyone.Let them see you are proud of your club through good and bad times, and they will come to realise you truly are a fan, not only on the outside, but in the inside./Rant over. blue_army 2
The way i see it is that you are either a fan or a supporter, to be a supporter you have to support the team e.g be in the crowd shouting the boys on each week. You can be a true fan from anywhere around the world and still have the passion... but i dont know how you manage it god it would drive me mad ( i know im spoilt by the amount of games i can attend this is on a below average salary but i sacrifice other things for chels i hate watching the chels on the tele as well i just cant enjoy it ) the international breaks are bad enough as for me watching Chelsea is more than the football its the feeling of being part of something in a crowd freezing your arse of at some northern hell hole in the middle of jan. What is also special about following Chelsea up and down the country is in modern society where people are judged by so many, no one cares who you are what you do etc etc you are part of something and always accepted for being chels end up chatting to people who normally you would never talk to in every day life
