This is slight semantics. My point was that a 150 IQ, if done on a test that went that high, is a score that means that SFL would be of exceptional intellect. My point was that I do not doubt he is intelligent but I doubt he is as high as that as such a figure would give him an exceptional level of intelligence. If he is that high then it is a shame for humanity that he decided to focus on football.

I dont get why.

It will take a lot more than people with higher IQs to make such a huge difference all around the world when you consider all the shit such as poverty, racism, disease, addiction, crime, lack of clean water etc that plague different parts of the world.

I mean lets be honest these problems are not going to be lessened or solved by one or twenty highly intelligent persons. These problems are only going to be lessened or solved if they are tackled by a large number of people, regardless of high IQ or average IQ. Even then, it is not as straight forward as that.

I think my posts have been taken on slightly the wrong way. My initial point was that I questioned the original articles announcement that SFL had an IQ of 150. As I pointed out, a lot of IQ test's do not go above 130 and, for those that do, it means SFL would be in the extreme end of genius since this is notmally assigned to those with an IQ above 130 (which is also why some tests do not go above that level.) Further from reading the article, it seems that they have based his on his GCSE results and not an actual IQ test which is a poor form of extrapolation.

As for my comment about humanity, by that I meant with an intelligence of that level he would be approaching Turing/Einstein levels. I never said he would be some great healer, I meant that he would have a level of intelligence that allows him to deal with highly philosophical/mathematical/scientific problems. No where did I indicate that having a high IQ means you can solve societal problems or that you would be nice.

An IQ of above 130 places one in the 98% percentile, so not such a rare genius.

The article explicitly states that there was a company doing iq tests with the squad at the training groudn and Lampard reached a score of 150+. Nothing to do with his GCSEs. They were just anecdotally added. Also, there are plenty of corresponding reports on said incidents of the tests taken at Cobham so I have no reason to doubt that Lampard indeed had such a remarkable result on that particular test.

Further I think IQ tests project an anachronistic and limited spectrum of intelligence. Most are based on pattern recognition. But often enough the person designing the test is subject to follow a subconscious pattern by doing so. This pattern could be a lot simpler than the one being asked for in the test. Consequently a person who is just experienced in doing such tests will find them much easier.

For example, for my first job interview all applicants had to complete an IQ test with all kinds of matrices, graphics, word sequences etc, typical IQ test BS. Because I used to do them for fun as a kid, i had no problems solving the whole test easily in time while all others struggled. So, I got the job.

A friend of mine, one of the most intelligent people I know who now works as a computer scientist at a famous venture capital firm applied for the same job a few months later and somehow failed badly. Consequently he was eliminated in the first round. Simultaneously a few absolute dumbwits who had less problems with the tests were hired.

In the end, maybe the most accurate test of intelligence is how much value someone attributes to these IQ tests.

All English players are not good enough for starting 11 tbh.
RLC from last season was fine.
Yeah I agree. But when Ruben reaches his best again in a more offensive system, he will be a beast again.
But to be honest, apart from Azpi, Puli, Zouma and Kante, nobody is good enough either. God bless we have signed Ziyech.

The overrating of RLC is honestly ridiculous.

Oxlade Chamberlain is better than him ffs.

I am (and have been) a member of the 'he probably is ruined for years or maybe for good due to a horrific Achilles tear' crew

same for CHO

and I called Emerson years ago

he never recovered from his horrific knee injury at Roma

we bought damaged goods

It is funny that Ruben made a sprinting test with Broja and couple of other guys and he was the fastest of them by far.
Ruben will be back. Already started with a great pass to Tammy last match, but he needs more match time. He needs more match fitness

He’s had spells or moments of quality. And even then, it wasnt exactly against elite opposition that actually led to a goal. Never a prolonged period of good form. The dummy against Otamendi and goal against Frankfurt
is the new Oscar brace against Juventus.

Looking forward to all the reactions when, not if, when RLC doesn’t live to their irrational expectations.

Name me one player that can play such a pass that is in our squad?

If he plays that consistently, then we'll talk. Otherwise, playing it once means zilch because every player has their day with a spectacular goal or assist.

most English footballers are the most overrated group in the world

the only ones I truly rate atm (would would be on a 25 man roster or loaned out for development and then brought back)

Raheem Sterling
Jadon Sancho
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Marcus Rashford
Declan Rice
James Maddison
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Mason Greenwood
Phil Foden
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Bukayo Saka
Dean Henderson   (backup)
Jude Bellingham   (loan him out)

that said
obviously we are not going to flush all of ours, as I cannot see any of the following being sold atm Mount, Reece,, Tomori, RLC, Faustino Anjorin, CHO (although he looks a shadow post Achillies, as does RLC), Lewis Bate, etc

Ruben played 240 minutes and played mostly coming from the bench and he played one great assist to Tammy, so he made a match winning assist already. Lampard used him twice as a winger and he could have shown more for instance against Leicester in the cup when he came on, but Barkley played three hospital passes to Ruben, which fucked the three counter attacks up. He still is strong and he still has his pace. If he has still this great close dribbling skills, we will see next season but maybe Lamps still sees Barkley as a starter. Who knows

I doubt we will ever see the best of RLC again, I dont see it.

Sell Ross and Jorgo, buy Kai and Partey. Instant improvement. That would give us Kante Mount Kova Billy Kai and Partey for midfield.
